I ALREADY TOLD THE STORY ABOVE. Sewer Fitters went out of business in order to avoid having to pay for my work and others. He is also being looked for by Nassau County as of 11/10/11. He has now opened a business under the name SEWER SWAT in Rego Park and may also operate in Plainview.
Description of Work: Dan Avshalomov, who is Sewer Fitters was brought to my house by the Plumbing Company I normally use. Water was backing up and I was told there was severe root intrusion and a possible collapsed line. A contract was signed with Dan Avshalomov who I shall now refer to as Sewer Fitters to jet the full line from the trap supply and install a perma liner setup which is his specialty. However, if the jet failed he would dig up to repair the line and then install liner. Sewer Fitters completed the work and was paid $7500. In November I had trouble again after doing laundry and Peter (the original plumber who brought Dan) came to check it out. He thought something unrelated might have been clogging the pipe since we both assumed the original problem was fixed. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Sewer Fitters had not done a good job. From November until May, I would call Dan whenever there was a problem and he would NEVER return my calls. He did, however, speak to Peter and pay him to come and give it a quick fix until the next time. Peter told me (not Dan) that Dan was waiting for a piece of equipment that he would get in January so he wouldn't have to excavate again. I started using the laundromat and dry cleaners only as I couldnt even get through one wash without calling Peter. It was now May and Dan had never picked up his phone when I called. He only has one phone number which I have seen him continuously answer when he was here. On Mothers Day we could no longer use any water without it backing up. I CALLED EVERYBODY! Finally I had to bother poor Peter who told me I would have to pay since he didn't hear from Dan. It would have cost me $228.11. "Lucky" for me, the original Plumbing Company who sent Dan paid Peter. I know the owner of the Plumbing Company was also calling Dan and has stopped using his services. One week later, Dan called!!!! He told my husband he would stop by the following Monday and take care of everything. He said he hadn't called us because he "thought we would think he was lying about not getting the piece of equipment he needed." Now he was just going to excavate again. He canceled us for Monday. Finally on Thursday, May 12th he showed up with one other person and the machine. They started working and my husband (who stayed home from work) was not optimistic about the way things were going. Suddenly a Construction Inspector from the Nassau County Dept. of Public Works showed up. I will call him John and if anyone doesn't believe me, I have his information. He asked Dan to see his permit to excavate and guess what? Dan did not have a permit. He let him finish the job because he wasn't going to let him leave us with no water. However, he stayed around to supervise. He did not approve of quite a few things that were going on and wanted Dan to remove all the liners because he felt they could be a hazard to the rest of the street. At the end of the day, Dan approached John and said he did not feel he could complete the job. He asked him to recommend a company and he would take full responsibility for EVERYTHING! In the meantime, Dan had to pay a $2,000 fine to Nassau County and pay for a permit. He was suppose to take care of the fine and permit on Friday. My husband and I had to stay at a hotel that night which Dan was going to be responsible for as well as John's overtime. We were all to meet at the house at 8:00 the next morning. Dan showed up because the machine which he had to return was still here. He told my husband his mother was ill and disappeared. The new company finished the job. It cost me $10,800 because they also had to repair the sidewalk, etc. where Dan had done some damage as he had to remove the liners going in to the street. We had to pay Nassau County over $500 so the work could be done because Dan didn't do it. As of Monday, I was told he never showed up to pay his fine or get a permit and his file was passed on to the Nassau County Attorney's Office by the Inspector. I spoke to him once more when he asked me to give him one week to get the money. He never picks up his phone. This man is not just a poor service provider, he belongs in jail for theft or fraud.
