Mr. Handyman of Nassau County

I had contracted for certain amount of money to do various jobs which was agreed upon by the owner, and the person he sent did not do all the work, but they charged me the full price, which I was very disappointed I had used them I think about 2007, and they did an excellent job back then, so that's why I'm torn. But each job itself is a specific job. But the last one this year, in July, they were contracted to do three different specific jobs, and they only did two. The owner contracted with me, we settled on the phone etc., but the different person that he had sent did not complete the job. He said I don't do that, you should get a landscaper, which was a load of bs, because all I asked him to do was chop some vines over a fence with the tools that I provided, he just did not want to do it. I contracted for 4 hours of work. I see the owner as a very strong quality control kind of person, who definitely did a great job last time, but the worker in particular didn't finish the job, so I'm going to give them one last chance, and what I would do is request a different worker, because I don't want to use the company with that particular person again. But I would try the company one more time.

This is the second time we have used MR. Handyman of the Gold Coast to do the same type of work. We were pleased with their work the first time and also the second time. I called their office and told them my problem and they sent someone to my house within a short period of time. They sent Mr. Sean Browne who is an experienced carpenter. He arrived on time, looked at the job, determined what lumber he needed, he went to the lumber yard to pick up the lumber, he returned with the lumber and repaired the soffit. He is a very good craftsman, he cleaned up the job site, was very pleasant to work with and did not waste any time. Handyman is fair in their pricing.

The worker, Jim White, did a great job. I considered him a miracle worker when he got things working in "this old house."

I believe an estimate is part of doing business. I am sure businesses can recoup the costs of estimates in the jobs that they do. I am not in favor of fees for estimates.

The work they did was very good. Jerry was the guy that came to my house. I thought he was a good worker and he was very nice.

Installer was punctual, professional and thorough. I actually googled them first and found them and was impressed with their reviews. Would recommend to others. Pricing is a bit on the high side. Would recommend to others. They do honor senior discounts which is helpful.

The worker was excellent, but he was not able to finish the job in the time promised by the supervisor. The supervisor who promised me came prior to the job and said it would be completed in one day to re-construct the closet and the baseboard covers for the heat. The worker then returned a week later in the late afternoon and was in a hurry to depart. He worked 20 minutes and charged me for a full hour. Overall, he finished the walls for the closet and baseboard covers for the heat nicely. However, the reason he was not able to finish the job on time is because the company overbooked him to do other jobs.

They did a pretty good job. They were very professional. He did a great job. The guy was a good guy. He did a good job.

The overall service was a disappointment. I called to make an appointment and John explained to me about how their service works and their rate. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but I went ahead and book the appointment. Because I was mounting a 60 inch TV, they needed two technicians for that. Since they charge by the hour (and by half hour after the 1st hour), we agreed that the 2 technicians will work on the TV first and when completed, one will leave and the other will stay to finish up the rest (which makes perfect sense). My wife was home and they arrived promptly at the appointment time. The technicians were very courteous and professional. Unfortunately, nothing much was accomplished from 9am to 1pm. In my opinion, I don't think it takes more than an hour to mount a TV. However, the second technician did not leave until 11am (so we got charged 2 hours for 2 technicians). From my understanding, when they arrived, one of the technicians went to work on the toilet while my wife showed the other technician the repair work to be done in the shower grout. Unfortunately, they were unable to repair either items: 1) the shower due to the scope of the job (as water got underneath the tile and they recommend a specialist for bathroom repairs); 2) the toilet they recommended to be repaired by a plumber as the pump definitely needs to be replaced and there might be a problem with the valve. Furthermore, one technician told us that he has never seen this model of toilet (as this is a one piece toilet) and said the repair will require 2 technicians as they need to take the toilet apart (which didn't make much sense to me). They also worked on the stand alone wine rack (one of those you buy off the shelf and assemble yourself). They tightened up all the screws and came to the conclusion that one of the legs connection is broken and there is nothing they can do. (please be mindful that both technicians were there doing this together) So by 11am, the only completed item was mounting the TV. The second technician at that point left and for the remaining 1.5 hours, the remaining technician completed caulking of the kitchen sink and attempted to plug in the HDMI cable behind the TV (which took 15-30 mins and was unsuccessful since no one was able to help him to take the TV down, plug in the cable and remount). All in all, what I have learned from this experience is this: you have to be very specific and certain that the technician can do the job. If you have any doubts, have them take a look and do an estimate first. Or else, you will just end up paying the cost and nothing gets done. For the amount I paid, I could have hired this company to caulk the kitchen sink, a plumber to fix the toilet and Best Buy to mount the TV. I just thought it would be more convenient to hire one company to do everything. But I was wrong. In conclusion, the disappointment is really the way the job was handled (why the 2 technicians didn't go straight to mount the TV and leaving one to work the rest of the jobs). I don't think by splitting up have speed up the process and I feel that I end up paying double for some of the service.

This company was top notch. Phil sent his employee, Jim, who arrived perfectly on time, was extremely professional, and did all of the work needed in a timely manner. Jim was very personable and the job was done cleanly, everything was explained well. We would definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

They told me they would come on Monday to take a look at the work that needed to be completed. On Monday, the employee called to tell me he was on his way to do the work. I was shocked, because I specifically requested they do an estimate first. When I spoke with the owner, he told me they would be doing the work that day or not at all.

They came within the time frame they said. They did not waste any time and did a great job. They were also neat and cleaned up afterwards. Gennaro was very courteous and kind.

We originally had more in mind to repair. He convinced us it wasn't necessary. I was very impressed by his honesty. He arrived on time, repaired the deck and fence. He was very professional and pleasant. We had tried to get other people to do the work, but our time frame was short. I was a little uncomfortable with asking Mr Handyman, as he seemed to be the only one with the time to do the work, but I had no choice (as no one else would do it). I was delightfully surprised and delighted. I would definitely use him again and would recommend him.

I spoke to Phil Sattler on the telephone and he expained to me how they work. I then made an appointment for him to come to my house to to look at the work to done and to give me an estimate of the cost. Phil arrived at my home on time and looked at the work to be done. He then returned to hs office and emailed me an estimate. I then called Phil and asked him to send a carpenter to my house to do the work. The carpenter, Tom Milk, arrived on time at my home to do the work. He purchased the necessary lumber to do the work and then proceeded to replace the rotted fascia and soffit on my house. Some of the work was on the second floor of the house that he had to climb on a ladder, some of the work was detail dental design that he had to cut the wood in the same design and some of the work was a large soffit that had to be fitted overhead. Well, Tom, is a professsional carpenter and he could handle all of it. In addition, he was pleasent to work with and cleaned up everything when he was done. The price of the job came below the estimate.

Mr. Handyman charges by the hour. I wanted a garage storage unit installed. the unit hangs from the ceiling of the garage. I spoke to Phil regarding the installation and after he reviewed the item online he said that it should take the technician about an hour to install. The installer was courteous but after reviewing the instructions and locating the way the beams traveled assessed he could not do the job because the beams did not line up with the tracks of the storage unit. The technician was very apologetic, but I was out $175 for the hour and an uninstalled storage unit.

It went well. He came on time, did the work in a timely manner and cleaned up after himself. He was courteous and the work was of a good quality.

Went very well. Repairs were done well and professionally. Considering the level of damage from fallen trees they did an excellent job restoring the railing back to its original condition. Very satisfied with the work. Not the lowest cost, but worth it!
