We found out that our gutters were not as good as we thought it was, so we have a little work to do before we can actually put it into play. Their responsiveness was superb. They sent someone right out, set up a meeting my wife, myself and them. They took measurements of all the windows, went over the product and gave us an in house demonstration. Their price was a little higher than the other. They were on time.
Description of Work: We got a quote from Classic Window and Door to replace a couple of windows that were cracked.

Our goal was to have our house sided and a new roof installed for energy efficiency, and to help keep future maintenance to a minimum. However, we didn't want our home (built in the1850's) to look like a old house trying to look new. We wanted to preserve it's original look as closely as we could while doing the updates. Owner Dan Looney listened to our wishes, and made it happen. Dan's first meeting with us was primarily information gathering. A few days later, Dan returned with many samples of siding, roofing and windows to choose from. We had tons of questions, and he patiently answered them all. We never felt like we were being rushed. We picked a siding that was a bit more expensive than the others, but looked very close to the original old wooden shingles on our home. For us, that was very important. Not one, but three seperate contracts were presented for us to choose from, giving us various combinations of options. We felt so confident in Dan's pricing, guarantees, experience and business manor, that we didn't even compare prices with a competitor. Once all decisions were made, we signed the contract (which included a couple of very nice discounts), and the work began. Start to finish, everything was completed in 26 days. Old roofing was torn off, and the new roof installed, complete with new gutters. The siding went very well, taking slightly longer than if we had chosen traditional siding because of the fussy details, but Dan's crew was impeccable. Two replacement windows were installed quickly and the side porch came out beautifully. We chose Classic Windows and Door primarily from the information in their ad. This company carries an A rating with the BBB, and is also listed with the BCB (Better Contractors Bureau), Good Housekeeping, and is Energy Star and Earthwise accredited. In a red, white and blue banner, "All Products Made in America" stands right out and means a lot to us. Dan advertises with coupons and discounts. This company was nothing but a pleasure to work with. Dan appeared on the job site about two or three times, but he really didn't need to. He has complete confidence in his sub-contractors. Every one of them were reliable and did top notch, quality work. Dan did phone every now and then to see how we felt things were progressing. The roofing was completed in 2 days. Originally we had asked for only two thirds of the roof to be done, as there was fairly new roofing on the remaining portion. But after seeing how nice it looked, we asked if the entire roof could be done, and there was no hesitation at all. Classic Windows and Door was very flexible and accommodating. Every scrap of material was tossed in the dumpster and all was picked up before the crew left. (It's one year later that I'm writing this review and there has not been a leak in the new roof, nor has once single shingle lifted during a storm or from ice.) Within 30 minutes of the roofers finishing, the siding crew appeared and got right to work. Each day they arrived on time and worked consistently until the job was completed. They were very polite, worked well together and all material was cleaned up at the end of each day. As the siding started to go up, it became evident that these two guys are truly artists in their own right. Every detail was done precisely, and it shows in the finished product. We couldn't be happier. The window man appeared at the appropriate time and installed the two new replacement windows in less than two hours. He said he was able to do so because the siders had set it up for him when they did their job. As soon as the siding was completed, the gutter man came to install the gutters and completed his work that same day. It was amazing how smoothly the work progressed. On the day of completion, Dan stopped by to check the finished product and to give us a folder with all of our guarantees and warrantys. We admired the house together, and at that point, we paid the balance of our bill in full. A job very well done. We are happy to highly recommend this company to anyone looking for services such as these. We feel it simply just doesn't get any better than this!
Description of Work: Classic WIndow and Door Company completely sided our house, replaced 2 windows, roofed the entire house and installed ridge vents, removed existing chimney, and redid a small side porch with siding, ceiling panel, and decorative lattice trim. We also had shutters placed in areas where appropriate.

replacement windows, doors

We started the search for new windows and doors in early December 2012. We got estimates from 4 companies, including Classic Window and Door. On the initial visit, Dan Looney, the owner, spent several hours with us to gather information, present his products, and walk us through the process of replacing windows and doors. He was very well versed in his products. Dan showed us three levels of windows; an entry level, a mid-range level, and a high end level. All the windows are manufactured by a company called Slocomb out of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.He explained the differences between each level without attempting to steer us to one level or another. All three levels appeared to be very good quality that met the Energy Star requirements and incorporated current replacement window technologies. Dan patiently took the time to answer all the questions we asked. On any question he was not sure of the answer, he took notes and followed up after the fact with the answers. Dan also explained the install process in detail concluding that the size of the job would most likely require about 4 days to fully complete. When comparing the windows Classic offered, I asked Dan to compare them to the products offered from the other companies I had gotten estimates from. I felt Dan gave objective answers without downplaying any of the competitors products. He mainly pointed out the places where the windows were the same and where they differed. If he could not objectively compare a product, he did not attempt to criticize the competitor's product. In the end, he basically stated that all the competitor's products appeared to be of good quality and then focused on his specific products and their features. Dan measured all the windows and doors which he took with him to put together an estimate. I asked to get a separate estimate for replacing the windows at each of his product levels. We received a detailed estimate within about 5 days. The estimate was roughly in the middle of the price range of 4 estimates we received. Dan returned for another couple of hours to review the estimate with us. I was considering using the entry level windows on the back of the house and the mid-range on the front (facing west). Dan did not attempt to direct me one way or another. He said his entry level window was very good quality and would do the job although the mid-range would provide a bit better performance handling the winds and the sun coming from a westerly direction. In the end, I went with the entry level on the back and the mid-range on the front. Dan adjusted the estimates accordingly and we decided to move ahead with Classic right before Christmas. At that time, we paid a 50% deposit on the project. Dan placed the order at the beginning of January with a target of about 8 weeks for everything to arrive. I contacted Dan in mid-February at which time he said the windows were in but he was waiting on the doors and they would be another couple weeks. At the beginning of March, Dan called to say everything was in and we scheduled an install date of March 12th. Dan's installers, Craig and Al, showed up promptly on the morning of the 12th. Craig evaluated the project and decided to move ahead with doing the window installs first. I asked what he had planned for the day and he said he would have all the windows installed and the inside work done by the end of the day. He also hoped to have the patio door in that day. Craig and Al went right to work removing a window and installing the new one before they moved on to the next one. It was obvious that Craig as the main installer had a wealth of experience working with windows and doors. By late afternoon, they had all the windows in along with the patio door. They stayed until around until early evening completing all the inside insulation along with the inside window trim. Dan stopped by in the mid-afternoon to check in on the progress and to get an status from Craig. On the 13th, Craig and Al again showed up promptly in the morning to work on the front door and the garage access door. For both of these doors along with the patio door, Craig was able to remove and reinstall all the wood trim which saved me the trouble of getting new trim that I would have had to stain to match the rest of the house trim. They also had to remove and reinstall the front storm door. They were done with both doors my late afternoon. Before they left, I noticed there was an air leak coming from the bottom of the new front door. Craig investigated and made some door adjustments. He felt he needed to apply some caulk along the bottom of the threshold. Rather then use a white caulk, he said it would not look good and he would pick up some more clear caulk so everything had a nice clean finish. Again, Dan stopped by to check in and get a status on the progress. The plan was for Craig to return early on the 14th to apply the inside caulk so I could head to work and then they would move forward with all the outside trim work. Craig showed up at the promised time even though he had forgotten he was not going to be able to do the outside work that day because of a prior appointment. But he took care of the caulking as he had planned. Craig and Al returned on the 15th and completed all the outside trim work along the back of the house. Craig returned again late morning on the 16th to finish the outside trim on the front top windows and again on the 18th to finish off the front bottom window trim, completing the overall project. Installation work and clean up both inside and out was excellent. The quality of the windows and doors was very good, except for a manufacturing issue with the front door windows. Dan stopped by late in the day on the 16th to take a look at the front door. He took pictures of the defect and said he would work with the manufacturer rep to get it resolved. Dan returned on the 22nd to provide a status on the door. The manufacturer will be replacing the door window glass and the window trim in early April. Dan also walked through the product warranties, explained the available tax credit for 2013, answered some questions, and collected the final payment. Overall, we have been extremely satisfied with our experience with Classic, Dan, and his install team of Craig and Al. I would highly suggest that anyone planning to have window and/or door work done to contact Dan for an estimate as on of the potential project contractors.
Description of Work: Classic Window and Door installed 16 vinyl replacement windows, a fiberglass front door, a steel access door from the house to the garage, and a sliding door to the patio.
