We responded to the Angie's List special offering a landscape estimate including a drawing for $40. Kyle is a very nice guy and does beautiful work but it took him 5 months to get the drawing to us. In fairness, he suffered some health problems but it took 3 phone calls after that to get the drawing and estimate from him. I think his work is beautiful and we love the drawing for future plans for our patio but I think he could benefit from some good administrative assistance.

Workers showed up everyday and kept me informed on the progress daily. Floor boards were removed, joists needed to be raised or lowered, deck flooring was then replaced.

It went really well. The quality was good and it was done on time and within budget.

Our job actually was able to be started a month earlier than originally thought (yeah!), but extended a little beyond what was expected b/c a brand new Trex product was used and the correct screws weren't used on the steps the first time around, so more product had to be ordered. All the builders who came were all very courteous and professional. They clearly cared about the job they were doing and that I was happy with the result. If I looked at something funny along the way I was very quickly asked if there was something that I wanted done differently. They never seemed upset if I had questions or when I wanted the stairs fixed (which was actually offered right away without me needing to ask) and I was given a few options for how I wanted them fixed. I am very happy with the final look of the deck and the process was made very easy--no problems at all that weren't quickly remedied. I would definitely use this company again and recommend to others. They were all wonderful people to work with.

The process got stalled a bit because we had some design questions in the middle. Paul returned and we worked them out and they resumed the job. The delay was at our request, so Paul was responsive in tweaking the design. At one point, when they were building the stairs to come off the deck into yard, we realized they felt too small. We brought it up, and the carpenters cheerfully re-sized them, twice, until we were pleased. No complaints, just there to make sure we had what we wanted. They were also good about pointing out little things they wanted us to see, to make decisions about. There was some concern about the marks on the wood from the double-kiln-drying process. Paul and his carpenter team inspected, found solutions and advised us about what to do, and contacted the lumber company (who were not helpful at all) for us. In the end, the problems was solved and we are very happy with our finished product.

The only complaint I have is their lack of responding to my phone calls. I have called them to come out for an ongoing problem I have had. However, they haven't arrived to fix the problem yet. Their prices weren't the highest and they also weren't the lowest. I would rehire them because I did like the workmanship.

We are pleased with Boardwalk. They specialize in remodeling/additions to older, authentic homes. Boardwalk is much more than a contractor - they are a business. The owner Paul Zachman spends a majority of his time coordinating the projects and working closely with customers on any desired modifications. Paul has a very acute eye for design, he totally revamped some of our plans which was a major benefit. The work crew pays particularly high attention to detail. One day I returned home to find one our windows which was installed earlier removed. One of the guys had noticed a transom was off by a couple of inches and they sent it back to the manufacturer. Many other contractors would have let it go unless noticed by the homeowner. I Highly recommend Boardwalk for homeowners who appreciate high quality craftsmanship and fine homes. While they are not the least expensive, at the end of the day you will be satisfied. And to us that was most important.

Working with Boardwalk Design was a pleasure from beginning to end. Owner Paul Zachman is very professional and has great knowledge of his product and offers many great suggestions and ideas. He worked within our budget and gave us exactly what we wanted. The carpenters were very polite, arrived on time and best of all cleaned up their workspace every day before leaving. They have years of experience and offered many great suggestions as they were building; suggestions that we didn't think of but would have wanted after the fact and saved us money by doing them as they built. They also worked closely with another company involved in laying patio bricks - without Boardwalk Design's carpenters our patio would not have been installed correctly. We would hire Boardwalk Design again, they were great to work with.
