We had a very large yard (multiple acres) that was not maintained for many years. There were trees that had grown up through it as well as weeds that obscured the house and everything needed to be completely torn up to start over again. This company was able to take on this large job and get trees removed, rip up endless weeds, etc. so that we could start again with the yard and maintain it going forward. They also removed plants that had grown all over the house.

I placed an inquiry to Angie's list for a landscaping contractor to come to my house and perform landscaping work in the context of the following: 1) Weed the flower beds along the driveway. 2) Edge each flower bed ( they are along each side of a longer than usual driveway. ) 3) Provide and install ten yards of the natural mulch ( He provided us with a picture of the mulch and we (my wife and I) selected the natural mulch. 4) The edging , weeding and mulch were to be installed on each driveway flower bed, and in front of a shed building in the back of the property. 5) Trim all of the the evergreen bushes along the driveway. 6) Cut down, chop up and discard a dead tree the front yard. ( I specifically pointed to where I wanted the parts of the tree dumped) 6) Blow of the driveway and lawn of any residual debris. For this he quoted a price and asked me if I was a military veteran and upon responding affirmatively, he quoted $1050. He said he needed a week before, " me an my guys are available to get the work completed. He showed a week later and began to spread BLACK mulch starting in an area we had white stone and which was not supposed to receive mulch. He said they didn't have the natural mulch so he chose the black and insisted we ( my wife and I) wanted the black mulch. He was very cavalier and could care less about what was originally decided. He failed to remove the mulch from the white stone bed. As I was not there when he started l I asked him if he weeded the flowerbeds before applying the mulch? ( We have had the same scope of work done at least a dozen times in our fifteen years living here) he said he sprayed some safe chemicals on the weeds which he insisted would , " take care of the weeds." After about an hour, he said he was finished and at that time he had blown all of the dead leaves and debris from the flowerbeds all over the lawn. His rationale was the contractor we have cutting the grass would mow it over. I insisted that was not going to happen- that he needed to do what he agreed to do. It was about this time when I became suspicious of him because he was working alone after stating he would have men on the site to "blow it out". I could keep writing and writing and writing about what he needed to do. It was clear he was attempting to do as little as possible with the hopes I would accept his poor performance. He argued and argued with me telling me he had a son with a girl he wasn't married to and on and on and on..............one excuse after another he eventually left and we communicated by text message. He continued to insist he should be paid for the mulch. I have pictures I can sends which would clearly show his negligence. 1) When he eventually returned and edged the flower bed the line was anything but straight to the common eye. 4) there are so many weeds growing up from the mulch , it is as if we never had any mulch covering the ground. If I owned Sam and son lawncare and especially with the work advertised on their website, I would be embarrassed to know this is the type of work they do.
