Description of Work: Provided written quote. The contractor was asked to perform services. Said they would get to in the fall, then the next spring, then late summer, then would meet with me the next week to go over the quote. I guess he doesn't want the work. He should have told me that upfront.

We received the job estimate in October of 2013 and gave the requested 20% downpayment. We were verbally assured the job would be completed before Thanksgiving, winter at the latest. In January he asked for more money. Work finally started at the beginning of March. Even though he had by now received 50% of the estimate, he did not use the money on the matierials for our job but bought materials at the last minute at a higher cost and then demanded more money to make up for the difference. The actual work did not begin until March, 2014 and took over six weeks during which time the property and the building were treated poorly with the roof regularly being left open, workers leaving garbage behind and even walking through the inside of the premises unannounced. The mason spilled and left extra mortar all over the front of the building which was never cleaned up or removed. The contractor tried on three separate occassions to substitute inferior materials for those specified in the bid and then argued that he was not doing so or that "these" were what he "meant" in the bid. Only when measurements were made of structural members, proving the material was undersized, did he use the proper material. He only asked for an increase to be made to the bid once, but the final bill showed a substantial inflated amount, including extra labor that any normal client would have thought was already included. Even though the bid was clear on what the job was to be, he walked off the job before completing the work and threatened legal action if his shortcuts and corrner-cutting errors were not paid for by us. Beware. He was very charming when making the bid and said things and put them in writing in the bid but did not complete the job as per bid. He lied about poor workmanship (we saw torn roofing paper being taped and not replaced) but accused us of making it up. He would leave the job on weekends with insufficient protection against the weather and the roof paper blew off during two separate rain storms, allowing water to pour into the building both times. His response was to demand proof of the interior flooding or his excuse was that we should have told him before he left for the weekend that the roof was open. His employee defaced the building, by carving his unique name into masonary, and no action would be taken unless we had photographic evidence of the abuse being performed. Clean-up was substandard. Materials and wrappers were blown all over the property and neighboring properties, pick-up was infrequent and insufficient, cigarette butts are still being found as are roofing nails. Luckily, during the job, we only had one flat tire. His attitude changed from promises to threats and we would only recommend prospective clients to stay clear of this disreputable, squabbling, contractor who did not make an accurate estimate nor keep to his contract. Our code enforcer had to dun him for the proper paperwork to be handed in and the neighbor's property was routinely used without permission and even in direct disregard of "keep off" requests. Bottom line: He bid something, didn't do it; tried to take shortcuts to make up for it; and tried to bully us into paying for his mistakes. Find another roofer.
Description of Work: The estimate was for a new roof and necessary wood/structural repair of sofits and eaves to support new roof.

He gave me a 10 year warranty for the work done. They did a good job, they were very responsive. They cleaned up very well after the project was complete. I would recommend them to others looking to have work done.
Description of Work: Replaced my roof with a new one, made sure everything was alright
