My experience with Insight Environmental was good - I have very few complaints, but I wouldn't characterize it as stellar, which precludes me from giving them an A. John came to the home I had under contract and performed mold and asbestos testing. He was punctual and polite. The still-owners of the home were there and gave us an extremely hard time - he was supportive and professional despite the difficulty. He inspected the basement for mold and the ceilings we wanted to have removed for asbestos. Before he came, he spent time on the phone with me and explained the process to me and gave me an estimate. When he got there, he got to work right away. I watched him work and asked him what he was doing; he answered my questions but didn't seem too thrilled to communicate. Overall, though, he was nice and hardworking, and showed me potential sources of mold to watch out for once I buy the house. He told me we would get the asbestos results back in about 48 hours and the complete mold and asbestos report in about a week. This is really the part that made them not get an A - it took over 2 weeks for me to get the complete report, and we had to call multiple times to get the asbestos report (not in 48 hours, that's for sure). Every time we called the secretary told us John would call us back, and he didn't. When I finally got in touch with him a week after the services, he told me that the results were on his desk and so he should have the report to us in about a week. If he had initially told me that it would take a while, I probably would have been more receptive. But it seems that there is a huge time lag between what they promise and during which they get things done. The report itself was fantastic, our whole basement was outlined, the mold and asbestos reports attached, everything perfectly explained. I was able to forward this report to the mold abatement companies we are currently searching for. I like that because this company only performs testing, they are unbiased. A mold abatement company has an interest in finding mold in your house - they want to be the ones to remove it! If there was a B+ or A- option, that's the grade I would give. Their price is great compared to the other independent mold/asbestos testing companies I called, and the job gets done.
