84 LUMBER CO

I did a complete renovation of my house. I did use other lumber yards were the material was a little more money then 84 lumber but the service that came with that was excellent (delivery, in stock, punctuality and no delivery charge). I went with 84 lumber because it was a smaller material list---13 interior doors and approx. 2200 LF of casing and base molding. On a Friday, I paid all the material in full as well as a delivery charge ($30.00), and scheduled a delivery date for the casing and moldings for a Monday with the understanding they had the material they sold me. On that Monday I received a call saying they were short a couple hundred LF of the casing and that someone might have "stole it". When I received the missing casing it clearly came from a different lot of casing so the millwork on it was different then initial delivery by a 1/4 inch-thus resulting in a lot more waste and time to install. I returned to 84 and bought the doors believing it would go better. Again, I purchased the doors and scheduled a delivery. With this date in mind I paid a carpenter to install the doors. Again they did not make the scheduled and agreed upon date with the explanation the delivery truck was loaded backwards and the doors are back in New Jersey. I lost a week on the install and a days pay to the carpenter. A week later when the doors were delivered one of the doors were damaged with water markings. I understand unexpected events occur, but when you get the entire order wrong the few dollars saved is not worth it. I used Riverhead and Pro-build for much larger and complex orders on this project and never had the headaches 84 provided me.
