JB General Contracting

At first we were not entirely happy with the work that JB contracting did in our back house. Joe did come back, listened to our issues, assigned one of his construction supervisors to our job and made sure every issue was addressed to our satisfaction. We are thankful that Joe is the kind of guy who wants to see his customers happy and satisfied.

When Joe arrived for the consultation, he was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Having dealt with several contractors previously, it was clear he knew exactly what he was talking about by identifying and offering solutions to our problem in such a short time. He also offered different insight than any of the other contractors. He was very quick and efficient in delivering an estimate and always available to answer questions via email or phone, albeit, we often played phone tag. When we finally made our decision to go with JB Contracting, it was for several reasons. Their quote for the work was far more reasonable than the other offers. The customer service was impeccable. From the friendly receptionist to all of the discussions with Joe himself, they proved to be the most reliable and affordable contractor. Once the work began, all of the guys on the crew were courteous and hard working. They always showed up early and got the work done ahead of schedule. As a business reliant on our outdoor patio during the summer months, we had blocked off several days for the patio to be closed for their work. As a result of their hard work and proven efficiency, the patio was only closed for one day while the concrete was setting. They began work on a Monday and were completely finished and cleaned up by opening on Tuesday afternoon. I would highly recommend JB Contracting. We will definitely be using them in the future for any other projects that may arise for us.

It was really a great experience they came on time, they were very cordial with the neighbors, they work quickly and cleaned after themselves, they were very professional the staff they sent to complete the job was very out going and nice.

He was very responsive, gave us a written estimate and showed up when he said and did the entire job far faster than we had anticipated. Very professional throughout. Called after to see if we were satisfied.

They were always there when they promised they would be. The job they did was done quickly and looks great. We were gone when the work was completed but they called to check up with us when we returned.

Joe was prompt and attentive in providing an estimate. He was able to do the actual work on short notice. Amazingly the workers were able to complete the removal of the old concrete and pouring the new concrete in just one day. A friend's similar job took much longer with another contractor. JB power washed the driveways of both adjoining neighbors and took additional time to replace all the bricks around our garden. They removed all the debris and left the site clean. One reason for their speed and efficiency was that they had equipment which enabled them to break up the old concrete quickly and haul it away. We were also impressed with the workers who really seemed to care about the quality of their work and the needs of their customer. They also worked really well together.

PERFECT.. I CALLED ON THURSDAY AND THE WORK WAS DONE ON MONDAY.. THEY WERE PUNCTUAL, PROFESSIONAL, RESPECTFUL, AND THEIR WORK WAS PERFECT!!! I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED!!!

Joe showed up on time, took a quick look, gave me a price of $2475 all-in. I agreed, then they added tax on the final contract. (This miscommunication was the only negative part of the experience.) I paid up front with a credit card. They did the job very quickly and professionally, got the violations cleared right away and followed up. I'm glad I called them, and I'd call them again in the future.

Extremely fast response. They pulled city permits, had old violations removed and scheduled city inspections in record time. Very responsive and friendly.

Called company on 8/15 to request estimate and was told someone would call back that day. No one did. Called company again on 8/16 to report that no one called back, as promised, on 8/15. Was again told that someone would call back that day - 8/16. It is now almost a week later and no one has called.

One person did all of the work. He was large, strong and experienced, and he did a good job. The section of concrete contained two metal caps that covered pipe openings for fuel oil and water. The first step was to cut the perimeter of the area with a concrete saw. Then a jack hammer and sledge hammer were used to break up the concrete. The chunks of concrete were removed from the premises. (During the removal, a couple of nicks were taken out of a collar surrounding the oil pipe but these nicks do not interfere with the pipe's usage.) The worker prepared concrete in a wheel barrow and then shoveled the concrete into the sidewalk section. Afterwards he strung yellow tape between trashcans and a tree to block passersby from stepping on the section. (I added another trash can to make the boundary clearer.) The worker gave me instructions about keeping the sidewalk damp (spraying the section with a hose after a couple of hours) and he told me how to clean the tops of the metal caps. The work was done with dispatch in about four or five hours. The end result is a section of concrete that looks better and stronger that other parts of the sidewalk.

Extremely well. It took longer than the original projected time frame, but completely understandable given the scope of the job. Eric Afanasewicz was the Project Manager and he handled everything from start to finish. I can't say enough good things about Eric. He is extremely knowledgable on every trade, and whenever an issue came up, he addressed it promptly. Eric was always available by phone, text, and email, even at odd hours. I interviewed 7 other contractors before I hired Eric, and I would hire him again without hesitation. My advice, don't waste time, hire Eric.

Joe worked with us to understand all of our needs, and to negotiate a fair price for everything. The only headache was that they gave us notice late on the evening before the start of work to try to save space for a dumpster in front of the house. Since alternate side parking on our street had ended, and parking here is difficult, we had a hard time saving space. In the end, they brought a dumptruck instead of a dumpster, so the large space we reserved wasn't entirely needed. The team began the job on-time, and worked very efficiently and neatly. Day 1 saw the entire driveway broken up and hauled away, the silt pits dug, and the cobblestone divider set in place. Day 2 saw the installation of the drainage pipe, pouring of the cement, and the filling of the gaps between the cobblestones. My neighbor complained about the work, and some splattered cement, but the foreman handled everything very professionally and calmly. Day 3 saw a crew member return to power wash the entire driveway and bordering concrete areas, as well as my neighbor's side of the shared driveway. Upon noting that some staining was still visible, Joe sent another powerwasher to do the clean up again. In all, we had no cause for complaint with the team on-site, or Joe and his office team. The cement looks terrific, and the drains and drainage pipe handle rainfall better than the prior set-up.

My sister hired a non-Angie's List company to fix a cracked sidewalk and remove violations for our property. They did a horrible job and the violations were not cured. They were sued, but had gone out of business. I checked Angie's List and interviewed several concrete repair companies. Their prices went up to $10,000. When I spoke to JB General Contracting they came in under $2000.00 and seemed to know what they were doing. I did not feel like a sheep about to be fleeced. They did the job when they said they would. I was called thereafter to see if I was satisfied. They told me they were confident that the violations would be removed and they were removed. I would recommend them to anyone. In fact, I am getting ready for concrete work at my house and you know who I will call. The real estate broker handling the house with the violations is also gloing to recommend them to his clients.They deserve the title of most reliable, knowledgeable and reasonable.

The workers were very efficient; all the tools and equipment were prepared in advance. They were well-organized and knew how to do the work. There were unavoidable delays due to the weather. They worked with us, gave us suggestions and went out of their way to be helpful. We were impressed with their follow-up phone calls and they immediately corrected touch-ups that were needed. They wanted to be sure we were satisfied.

I would highly recommend JB General contracting. I called the company on Monday morning at 7:15 am for an estimate and spoke to Danny. My call was returned by 7:30am by Joe Battaglia, the owner of the company. By 11:00am that same morning Joe visited the property and called me with an estimate. The estimate was fair and reasonable and the work was completed as promised in a timely and professional manner. All of my questions were immediately addressed by Danny, Joe and Rosario. I would definitely use this company again.

It went well. Joe returned my calls and was accessible by email as well. He provided an estimate, we went over the plan, and everything went smoothly with no involvement needed from me. He gave me updates to let me know things were going well and kept me in the loop about the progress. This is the way a professional company should be run. I would use and recommend JB Contracting in the future for jobs that I have.

It went well. These guys have a lot of experience and do excellent work.

The guys at JB General Contracting were extremely professional from start to finish. Joe Battaglia has one goal.....MAKE THE CUSTOMER HAPPY! The workers showed up bright and early. The company posted all required permits. Any issues that came up, I was able to address it with Joe Battaglia and he relayed the message to his workers. JB General Contracting had all of the required equipment to do the job, including dump truck, Bobcat, and roll-off containers. The job started with the demo and removal of existing concrete. I was told that the workers would arrive by 8AM. They were there at 7:30AM. The demo was quick. I was relieved to see that the container was picked up early the next morning......a little too early for some of the neighbors. When Joe Battaglia came to give the estimate, he told me that if I wasn't happy, they would break it up and do it again. While framing was going on, we ran into a few problems that I was not happy with. I advised Joe of the problem. He came to my house right away. He assured me that he would take care of the issue. HE DID! It was comforting to finally deal with a contractor who stood by his word.......I could go on and on but it is not necessary. If you are considering JB General Contracting for the job.....consider no more ! They are professional, prompt, and trustworthy. This is not a company that does business out of a van. They have a beautiful office for you to visit. All of the guys are great (shout out to Danny and Tony "The Foreman") If you need further convincing, after I paid for the services, another problem came up. This was no fault of JB General Contracting. When I called Joe and told him what happened. He came to my house to inspect. He agreed something was wrong and called the company who provided the cement. A representative from the company came to my house to view the problem. The conditioned was corrected at no further cost. I have dealt with a number of contractors. My experience has been that once they have your money, it is almost impossible to get them to address any problems. This was not the case. Loved working with this guy! Joe Battaglia (the owner) scheduled a time to meet at my house. Called me a 1/2 hr earlier to confirm he was on his way. Showed up promptly at 8am, brought a professional measuring stick to walk the property and size up the job. Listened to my concerns and requests, told me he would email an estimate by end of day and he did. Quote was a bit higher in price than the other 2 I had gotten (and not really sure how the 7% angie's list discount was factored in here, but whatever), but he was direct and made me feel confident that he knew exactly what we wanted to do and how we wanted the job to look. We scheduled time for his crew to come and do the work promptly after we signed the contract and paid the deposit - they were prompt, did the work in 2-3 days and Joe was always accessible by phone or email to discuss any details. I don't like being jerked around - I expect my contractors to show up when they say they will, do the work and do it right, and they absolutely did! Joe even followed up a few days later to make sure I was still happy with the work. Great job - I would totally use them again.

They came and repaired all the issues I had with the flooding, for the next rain shower that came through and gave me a temporary fix and once the rain stopped, the pointed the bricks on the back on my house. They dug all the concrete out between the bricks and put it back and fixed the rotted wood on my roof. Called me several times a day to make sure everything was okay and monitored everything. I have never had this great of service in my life.

The work went really well. JB Contracting was responsive and responsible in all stages of the job, from providing the quote, to scheduling the work, and finishing the work. They always called me back when they said they would, and kept me informed on the progress of the work. The foreman and workers were all friendly and professional. They were focused on customer service and made sure that I was happy with the work done. I am very happy with their service. They provided a competitive quote, and the service was much better than the other contractors that I talked to. My walkway and stoop look beautiful. I would definitely use them again.

Crew arrived about two hours late but did an excellent job. I waited before providing a review to make sure the concrete lasted without cracking at least a month and am satisfied with the job. I would hope the punctuality issue was an aberration. I would use them again based on the quality of the work and the professionalism displayed by the crew once they were on the job.
