Way too much efflorescence in the concrete that will take years to remove; very disappointed aesthetically; ponding in at least two places; color doesn't match because there were two trucks/two pours. Floating is rough and could have been smoother and more even. I thought we hired J&B, but they subcontracted to another company without disclosing that upfront. Very dissatisfied; do not recommend this contractor.

Joe and JB did our driveway in 2013. I posted an A review here on Angie's List very shortly after the job was done. Within a few months, the cement started to crumble. They sent out a team to redo one section, but within a short time, other sections started to crumble. They tried to blame me, saying I had used road salt on the driveway when I hadn't. After that, they refused to answer my calls or respond to emails. They do substandard work, with inconsistent pours. We paid $11,000, and within a year and a half, our driveway looked almost as bad as before the job was done. I have been unable to rescind that review, but when a relative told me today that they'd seen the review, they knew from the details that it was my job, and that we have been totally dissatisfied with this contractor. Do not hire this company.

Dear member, I’m sorry to hear about your experience And are now 8+ Years later your efforts in trying to Defame our reputable company but what you forgot to add in to your review is all of the six times I personally came out to inspect the issues and then sent my crew back multiple times to repair the damages you personally caused by using Rock Salt to melt your snow when we Specifically asked of you NOT to use rock salt for the first 24 months of installing the new lovely concrete job which by the way you posted for us an A+ review after completion of the job. Anyhow you could have simply called or emailed me personally and as I’ve done already I would of been happy to come out again to reinspect the scope of work albeit 8+ years later of the initial damages caused by you personally and we would have gladly performed a repair at no additional charge. I look forward to speaking to you soon and assist you in this matter amicably. Best regards, Joe Battaglia.

We had our full flat roof completely redone by JB. This year we had a substantial leak (we had that a few years ago as well and they came and supposedly fixed it). We called several times and each time we were told that someone would call us back. I called again after speaking to someone who told me someone would call back within 15 minutes. We NEVER received a call back and had to have another contractor fix the leak. I realize we were in the middle of the pandemic but they kept telling me that someone would call me back and then NEVER had the courtesy of calling me back EVER.

Working with Joe and his team was a pleasure. From meeting on day one meeting on site for a consultation Joe was prepared and on time if not early. Through each step of the process Joe and his team were in constant contact with me with updates regarding permits, demolition, and final results. Photos were sent of the final project and I couldn't be happier. I would definitely recommend JB General Contracting to anyone who needs sidewalk repair or any general contracting work done. Impeccable work, thank you!

Excellent customer service. Excellent quality work. The owner, Joe, is an absolute professional. Came out to survey and draw up a quote on a backyard in desperate need of some work. Quote was promised within 2 days and sure enough it did... Got a couple of quotes but ultimately decided to go with JB. Joe gave an estimated start time for the project and again he was spot on. Called on the day of the start of the work to make sure everything was going ok. Workers were extremely professional. Work turned out to be perfect. Joe called on the final day of the project and also came out to make sure the work was completed properly. Great customer service. Great work. Backyard is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you to everybody at JB.

Joe and Muhamed were professional, courteous, and helpful throughout the entire project. The work was clean and pristine. The timeline set forth had to be adjusted, primarily because of weather. Despite the delay, the work was completed quickly and within days of the original time frame. Joe suggested the brick facing, which enhanced my imagination of the final appearance of the wall and steps. Before it was finished, passersby commented on the uniqueness of the style in the neighborhood. The granite paving looks fantastic! The steps and platform are inviting and a joy to look at. I am completely pleased with the work and I've already started planning for more work on the house and roof.
Description of Work: JB General Contracting provided restoration to the upper main staircase, top platform, and two side walls (including removal of all loose debris); power washing, repair of all cracks and holes, waterproofing of all seams; application of two coats of waterproof brown thorocoating; and provided scraping and cleaning underneath the existing Brownstone steps; demolition and rebuilding of lower front wall and four complete treads steps with brick facing and granite coping/treads; removal of existing upper area concrete and replaced with 18"X18"X1" Natural Granite Tiles over a cementous foundation base material fully grouted. All of the work included a 2 year guarantee.

It went very well, and was done completely in 9 hours. We had to supply electricity and water. The team of workers were professional. There was a tree that had to have more space added around it, following NYC guidelines. The cement went from the curb all the way to the front of our house. Joe was available during the work, and answered all my questions. The cement looks good, and looks even better than many of the other recently-repaired sidewalks in the area.

Joe was very responsive and Muhamed was extremely accommodating. The workers were receptive to questions and requests. After each day, the workers cleaned the area and removed all trash and debris. The schedule was maintained and the work was finished one day ahead of schedule. Everyone (including people at the office) was very respectful, polite, and helpful. The backyard looks beautiful!

Very impressed. Joe came out to do the estimate on Saturday 8/27. He gave us a written estimate via email later that afternoon. We accepted on Monday. On Tuesday we spoke and exchanged emails about the color and design. Joe came out on Wednesday 8/31 to collect the deposit and signed contract as well as to discuss the details of the job with the foreman. Materials were dropped off on Thursday 9/1 and the work was completed between Friday 9/2 and Saturday 9/3. The crew, headed by Fernando, were friendly, professional, and efficient. The work was completed quickly and beautifully. Hoe was in contact throughout via both email and phone. He came by in person on Saturday as wok was winding down to check in and collect the balance. We are very impressed with how rapidly this process went and with the quality of the finished product.

The work took place in three phases. The bid: I dealt with Joe. He's a straight forward guy. Of the four contractors I got bids from, his was the lowest. When I pressed him on it, he said, "we're just dating," meaning he could not go lower because the job was small: pouring a sidewalk 17 feet wide and 10 feet or so deep, plus a front yard of a brownstone.. The job: Once I committed with a down payment, I didn't hear from Joe for a few days, leaving me to wonder when we'd get the job going. Then finally I heard from him and from there everything moved quickly. His guys came by and did the job in a day, just like they said they would. His no. 1 guy, the foreman, was really nice and helpful. I think his name was Mo. They carted the debris and I stood watch after they left to make sure it set before anyone walked in it. The follow up: The only thing that bugged me about the whole experience was that Joe wanted a cashier's check for the remainder of the balance, even though I paid the down payment with a personal check. This costed me extra time and money, but obviously he's been burned before by others. I would recommend these guys. For small concrete jobs in NYC you can't do better. They're big enough to give customers good prices but small enough that they can bother with the small jobs. One winter later, their work is holding up great.

Joe and his crew from JB Contracting have, for the third time, completed a job well done in my home. This time around, we needed the basement to be refreshed and made more modern. The exposed brick walls were cleaned up, sanded, and all existing holes and imperfections filled in to make a more solid, (and critter safe), uniform appearance. We had walls built in cement block around our boiler and meter rooms and steel doors installed. Exposed brick and other masonry was then treated with Thorocoat for waterproofing. All installation of masonry and doors was efficient, professional grade work and clean, clean, clean. And, clean up was done meticulously after each day's work. These are the details that set apart a good contractor from a mediocre one. Sheet rock was installed between the exposed joists of the entire room which finally gave a more open feel to our old Brooklyn basement. The exposed joists were treated with compound and sanded for repair and to prepare them for painting. Mo, the foreman, was as always, overseeing all aspects of the job, saw to it that all my small requests were not overlooked and consulted with me throughout as needed. Joe was in touch through the entire project and saw to it that each stage was satisfactory before proceeding to the next. I'm always pleased to work with Joe, Mo, and all the workers of JB. They are respectful to my space, the vision of my project, and my home. I recommend their work; it is consistently professional, efficient, fair, and with the least amount of fuss. They are interested in getting the job DONE and done to one's standards and satisfaction. I'm very pleased with the results and with the process as well. **The attached picture is a panoramic view to give a sense of the total work.

I hired a contractor to do the cement job in my backyard. Needless to say there was no warranty. It started chipping, cracking, and peeling. I remembered JB General Contracting. I gave Joe and the gang a call they came out and instead of re-cementing it they gave me beautiful paving stones at a great price and I did get a warranty. I recommend JB Contractors because their price is right, their efficient, they clean up after themselves, and they think about you the customer and what you want. I will call them again. Thank you so much Joe and the gang you mean so much to our family.

I believe they did a good job originally BUT when we had a leak over a month ago 9not even 3 years after the new roof was installed) and we called them, told them to contact us when the roofer comes, they sent someone to the roof without letting us know and he did NOT fix the leak correctly. It's 3 WEEKS that we are trying to get someone to go back so we can show him where the roof leaks and get it fixed. Due to the heavy downpour last night we have water coming into the house. The follow-up is TERRIBLE! SO DISAPPOINTED!

Dear Member, We all here at J.B. Contracting are quite disappointed with your follow up review you posted here. Your original review here on Angies List spoke of praise and complete satisfaction. As per contract we gave you a 2 year unconditional guarantee and you called me two weeks ago to which is @ 4 years after we completed the job to complain about a leak around the skylight which even though the warranty was well expired I sent my crew there to inspect & repair at no charge to you. Then you called me again after your tenants complained of another leak ( not from skylight) and I sent my crew back again and fixed the leak coming from your neighbors side which was leaking underneath to your roof which had nothing to do with my original job and again at no charge to you. We feel that your negative review here is un justified as we did everything above & beyond our agreement to satisfy you. Any how we look forward to serving you again in the near future. Best Regards. Joe was very responsive and helpful with assessing my situation. He came at my earliest convenience to assess the job and provide a quote. After agreeing to the price, he emailed a contract and we set a date for the job to be completed. Joe's foreman arrived on time with his crew and began the work immediately. Joe passed during the work to make sure I was happy and to collect payment. The crew worked throughout the day and did a great job on the fascia and windows. They also ran new gutters and leaders for my house as well. They even removed an extra awning I had on the house so I wouldn't have to climb a ladder and do it myself. All of the work was exceptional aside from some points where the caulking and sealing was a little messy and I had to clean it and finish it myself. Aside from that, it was a great experience with Joe and his crew and I would use them again.

Fortunately, I found Joe to be a very intelligent, dynamic and an experienced professional who understood all the requirements of the job. A contract was signed a week later. Throughout the construction process, Joe would visit to make sure his team leader or foreman was doing what is required by the terms of he contract. Joe B. would constantly call to insure the work being performed was to my satisfaction. You don't have contractors give that type of attention anymore these days. Looking at the finished product now, everything looks beautiful, but was only accomplished by a lot of manual labor and perseverance from Joe B. and his crew during those hot 90's days. Thanks to Joe B. and team.
Description of Work: I contacted J.B. Contracting and met with Jo Battaglia, the president to review my requirements for work to be performed: obtain all permits, retile overhung front porch, rebuild stair case and railing, rebuild adjacent brick wall with new window, remove all layers of old stucco from porch surface, retaining walls and resurface with white stucco, create a retaining wall for new walkway, remove and installed new concrete to sidewalk, driveway, apron and walkway, install new drain and a trench in garage concrete floor for passage of all electrical cables. An option was added to remove a tree trunk and all associated roots from the sidewalk, install a new PVC fence in the back yard and a Belgian block border in front garden. A major part of the concrete work also required coordination with my snowmelt system contractor and his electrical subcontractor which needs the electrical wires to be imbedded in the newly pour concrete. The arrangement of the house is not simple, driveway pitches downhill, walkway pitches uphill, sidewalk pitches in another direction relative to neighbors and apron toward the street.
