JB General Contracting

The job was well executed in a timely fashion and on-budget. JB contracting is responsive and reliable, something I have battled with in the past with other vendors. Estimate, including an on-site evaluation in 48 hours! Clean, courteous and professional, I would use them again in a heart beat.

I picked JB from Angie's List and sought a bid. With 3 bids in hand, I selected JB. It was clear that they knew the ropes of the violation business in NYC. They had my signed contract and deposit on Aug. 25. On Sept 10, 2 weeks and 2 days later, they did the job, complete in one day. Looks great, good cleanup. Joe is handling the closure step with NYC and says that I should expect removal of the violation within about 30 days -- apparently typical NYC schedule per JB experience but outside of JB authority.

Our property is an attached 2 family, smack in the middle of a run of 14 houses. The project was to demo an exterior attached pantry. All the debris had to be hand carried around to the front. No trucks/dumpsters were going to be able to get to the site. It is in the back and 'out of sight' - but they did a great job of both the demo and the clean up. How did they do? We were impressed enough that we're getting a quote from them on the rebuild. We are very satisfied.

Everything went relatively smoothly, I am overall happy with the experience. Being conducted within Brooklyn and on a small new build over existing garage, the work required "special inspector" oversight of underpinning and a contractor willing to follow both the engineer of record's plans and special inspector's directions. Tony and Ed executed the slab pour with great skill and efficiency--real pro tradesmen. Joe the owner personally saw that the job was completed to my satisfaction. What more can you ask for?

Demlishing and rebuilding my front porch with blue stones. Their works went well. The price was reasonablle. Joe and his workers were professonal, courteous and highly skillful with their works. Joe delivered his work exactly as he promised to me . The job was done and comleted in 3 days as promisd. They were prompt and punctual at work. Joe and his crew have restored my faith in contractors. I needed my chimney taken down and a new one put up and also some stucco work on the house. The crew was on time, courteous, and finished in record time. Joe delivered on his promise to have it done on time and the work was perfect. I would use their services again without a thought.

These guys did an excellent job pouring an exposed aggregate patio in the back of my brownstone. Joe, his crew and office were a pleasure to deal with on all levels. They're meticulous pros who work with care.

I called J B General Contractors on June 17th asking if someone could give me an estimate on cement work at my house. Joe B showed up at the house within 2 hours of my call. He gave me a verbal estimate on the work. I decided on Sunday, July 6th to have the work done. I left Joe B a message and he phoned back first thing Monday morning, July 7th. I received an email from him with a full contract followed-up with a phone call. I dropped my deposit off at the office on Friday, July 11th. First thing Monday morning, July 14th, I received a call from him stating that the cement work would be done on Tuesday, July 15th. His crew showed up at my house shortly after 7 am on Tuesday morning. Joe showed up about 10 minutes later and the work began. His foreman, Tony, was left in charge along with a group of workers that were absolutely great. I was a little nervous when it first began but within less than an hour, I was convinced I had chosen the right company. All of them were very professional and worked together to complete the job. It went like clockwork. By 2:30, the new cement was down and the finishing touches were being done. The driveway was the last bit to be complete. By that time, the weather was no longer cooperating. The sky opened up and it started pouring. Tony and team hustled and covered the driveway with plastic and put up caution tape on both sides of the work so no one would walk on it. Joe had called a couple of times over the day to update me on the progress. Once Tony had finished everything, they left reassuring me that the rain wouldn't hurt anything. This was followed-up again with a phone call from Joe telling me that he would personally be at my house on Wednesday morning to pick up the plastic from the driveway along with a few boards that were left on Tuesday. Sure enough, Wednesday morning at 7:15, Joe was there. I told him how happy I was with the job and that his staff was excellent. There were two places that needed to be touched up and he said he would be back later in the day to take care of them. By the afternoon, everything was complete. My property was left spotless. I am so happy with the work that was done and the manner in which it was done. I would highly recommend this company.

Chose JB for their price, and professional manner of preparing detailed written quote. No misunderstanding about what was expected and what was done. They got all the proper permits quickly and did both jobs the same day. Arrived with a full, competent crew. They brought everything they needed to do the work. Cement truck, front loader to breakup the old sidewalk and load it into truck for hauling debris. Workers did their job without wasting time. Best experience with contractors I've had. Calling Joe the first time, he immediately arranged to see the job. I was impressed of his quick response. We agreed with the price he quoted, and i thought it was reasonable. After I decided with the color of the pavers, it took him 2 days to start the work. His workers were knowledgeable, answered our questions, and did the job professionally. One of our neighbors commented that JB Contracting was the most professional company who have worked in our street so far, and there's no doubt not to hire them. I am thankful of finding JB Contracting thru Angie's list. And I will definitely hire them again for any contracting jobs that we need done.

JB's work was very high quality. The job was done neatly and quickly, and we especially appreciated the skills and professionalism of their workers. We were also impressed that JB sent 5-6 employees to work on our relatively short length of sidewalk, and by the large machines that kept pulling up in front of our house. Our neighbors have all complimented the work and seem quite envious.

Tore out existing sidewalk, hauled away debris and poured new sidewalk and curb with cut-out for tree. Job was 9' x 17' (153 sq. ft., less the tree cut-out) for $2982. The quality of the work was good, although their workers were over an hour late. The price was a bit high, but I wanted to have the old sidewalk replaced before winter hit so I took the hit.

Prompt with the appointment and fast. They even called after the job was done to see if I was happy. Thanks!

They were not very good. They did not step, touching it steps... They came in to fix it twice but nothing worked out. When it was coming cold, they said it is too cold to do it, and they never come back. Overall, I will give them a D.

I am getting estimates from other Angies List contractors at this time.

JB is a very nice man. He is very nice, very professional, and very well educated, and has a good personality. He taught me things I didn't even know about my home which could have caused future problems. He was very mannerly and took his time to explain everything with the quote. He was really really good. that man is excellent, and I want everyone to know that. At this time, I just cant afford his price, but I know had I chosen him, the work would have been excellent.

They were easy to work with and they had good communication. They were responsive and did the job when they said they would.

They were responsive, punctual, and professional--and the quality of their work was extremely high. The quoted price was the price we paid. They explained everything clearly and did the job just as they had described it. I highly recommend them!

The work turned out well. The only issue was that I actually got a violation from the city because of the work. The city has new rules and a neighbor called based on the work they were doing in front of my house. They said it was construction so I'm trying to fight it now. It has nothing to do with me and it is crazy. The work was fine and I enjoyed working with them. They were professional and clean. They didn't leave a mess. There were things I wanted done and they went back and fixed them. I noticed some things once the work was done and they didn't have a problem coming back to finish it the way I liked. They also followed up to find out how the work was. There was still a small issue and they came back and looked but it was something else. Their price was on the higher side but you pay for what you get. I was fine with the price. I already have another quote and I'm just waiting to get the money to pay them.

Went exceedingly well. Joe and crew are very organized and professional. Said job would take 2 weeks was done in half the time. Very clean job. As demo was passed through the house, great care was taken to insure that there was no mess. Was done exactly the way we wanted it done and it looks absolutely beautiful. Our neighbors are very impressed.

We were happy with the work on sidewalk, curb, driveway and the landing of the stairway. In fact, it has been a great referral, for my neighbors interested in similar work. On another note, we appreciated the professionalism and courtesy extended to us after experiencing unseasonal rainstorm with flooded our basement with mud the unconstructed driveway. With a quick phone-call to J&B, the team shifted gears and helped us with a thorough clean-up without question. More importantly, in spite of this mishap, J&B completed the overall construction under schedule. We are very happy Joe and J&B Construction and will use them in the future.

It was all done pretty quickly. Joe is a professional and in the business a while. He knows what to do. And his team does it well. I will use him again.
