JB General Contracting

JB Contracting is a well-oiled machine! It really amazed me that the major activities were timed. The dumpster was delivered on the first morning. The workmen then demolished all flaking and decomposing concrete. Supports for the new concrete were installed and all areas were prepped and cleaned. Then the new concrete was delivered and installed. Then the dumpster was gone. And that was Day One! With most of the major work done, the next day was cleanup and preparation for stucco, which occured the following day. As we all know, projects can be stressful but this was a new experience for me! Considering the number of staff assigned to the job, the quality of concrete and stucco, and the final results --- This was a home run!

Overall B+, I would recommend JB and their crew. They mobilized and executed quickly with all of their own equipment (excavation, demo, containers, finishing tools) and the 7-8 man crew were well coordinated and experienced. Each guy knew exactly what they needed to do on the job and addressed our concerns and every item that was pointed out to them. They had a good foreman, 3 skilled guys to do the detailed work, and plenty of helpers who didn't require much direction. They arrived early before 8am and worked till 6pm. Pros: Reasonable rates; in line with other quotes, scheduled the job very quickly (only a couple of days after signing contract) & finished the job in 2 days, others estimated a weeks time. Since JB has the man power, equipment and hauling, they were very efficient. Cons: it took a couple of calls to get a quote, some back-forth coordinating follow up meeting & damage to the street from the container but Joe assured me that it would be remedied.

They were great. Always on time and professional. Quality of work the top of the line. Cleaned up after themselves and always available to have questions answered. Made my house look like new. Major transformation. Thank you Joe.

Mr Battaglia, Your answer to my comments is so wrong as you in fact did replace the two steps in question it was not a patch job to begin with. The second and third visit were to fix the sloppy work initially done. I am in the process of hiring someone else to do the work again. what you wanted to do was replace all the steps,which did not need replacing, and still do not, and to put on a slab which I was not prepared to do. Please take responsibility for your work.

I live in PA and it would have been time consuming to travel to NY and take out the permits myself to do the work. J & B Cotracting did everything for me, they took out the pemits and completed all the work wirhout me having to come t.o NY Joe was very professional and helpful. He set up an affordable payment plan for me. J & B Contracting is a great company to do business with. I highly recommend them.

The two man crew arrived on time early on a Saturday morning to accommodate my schedule for the rest of the day. They worked very efficiently and without any wasted time. The job was done in a very professional manner and the cleanup was very thorough. All in all, it was an excellent job and the results were more than satisfactory. I highly recommend J.B and will contact them again in the future should another requirement arise.

The workers were extremely professional and kept a clean work area. They were very knowledgable and I felt confident with them and the caliber of their work was above par.

Over this past winter my husband noticed that our garage floor had cracked and buckled making the garage door difficult to close. Through the winter the cracks spread. Our asphalt driveway was already cracked and uneven all over making it difficult to shovel snow and water drained right though every crack. Our sidewalk and walkway were also uneven making us a little concerned about unecessary/unwanted injuries. We called Mr. Joe Battaglia to provide us with an estimate. Within about 3 weeks or so we signed a contract. Mr. Battaglia's foreman Joe and his team came on the first day bright and early. They began removing the garage floor, old asphalt driveway, sidewalk, walkway, curb and front steps. They also began prepping to pour concrete. Unfortunately, it rained the next day putting a hold on work. The following day Joe and his crew continued their prep and began pouring concrete that morning. They finished pouring early afternoon and began molding the concrete. The following morning, they tied up any loose ends (ie, caulking, resetting cobblestone cleaning up). All in all my husband and I had a better than expected experience with Joe Battaglia, his foreman Joe and his crew. Even though someone had accidentally broke one of my sprinkler heads, Mr. Battaglia was more than happy to deduct the repair costs from the final bill. They were all professional and courteous and really worked to please their customer. The before and after is like night and day. It really does make our property look brighter and cleaner.

This is the second time JB has poured the sidewalk and driveway outside our home in two years. The bad news is the original job had to be replaced. In all fairness, the day they did the original work, we had a freak sunshower just as they poured the cement. I am happy to say that they did not try to skim coat the job, they actually pulled it all out and started from scratch. Almost a month later, we have been watering it daily, as instructed to help it cure stronger, it looks great. Please note, that it did take some back and forth to get JB to come out and redo the job. Luckily for us, the cement work was under warranty. When they responded to the first complaint, they claimed it was caused by the bad weather and salt. It took a second complaint and they came and reassessed the damage and agreed to fully redo the job. So far, so good. Check back with me next year, as I hope and believe the quality will be excellent.

This company should not have an A on Angie's List. They were very rude and disrespectful to me on the phone. When talking to them on the phone the guy wouldn't let me explain anything. I tried to use them last year and they never called me back. When I brought this up to their attention this year he was well that was last year and pushed me to talk about the work that I needed done. When I did start he kept interrupting me. When we tried to schedule the appointment he gave me dates that would work for him and if I was unable to do them he would make a snarkie remark back. One of the days I have an appointment at my vet, his response was "well I guess animals are more important than me". He also was unhappy that I do not live at the residence where he would be doing the work at. At the end of the phone call he gave me an attitude and told me that I needed to get everything together and then hung the phone up on me.

Work was not performed.

They did an excellent job. They were on time. UPDATE: Winter of 2017 brought with it a huge crack in my driveway. I believe this company used inferior cement. After speaking with the company I was told there was only a one year warranty and they were not willing to do anything. The one year warranty did not outline that it was only for one year.

About 2 hours later, Mr. Battaglia emailed me explaining why his company would not be able to do the job. I really appreciated his prompt response, so I could move on to another company. I will consider using this company in the future if the need arises.

We didnt have them do any work, but definalty will give them a second chance if the need arises, no need for a bad review, just a bit of communication issues.

They did a great job. I had gotten an estimate from another company and it was 3 times as high as this company.

I could not have been more pleased with the work that was done on my steps. I called for an estimate on Monday, Joe returned my call with the estimate Tuesday morning and started on the job the following day. My steps look brand new. He even filled in some cracks in the cement. They were very professional, prompt and the work was excellent. I would have no problem recommending JB to anyone.

Joe responded quickly to my inquiry and we immediately established a time to meet (that same day!). Upon going over all the projects that I was interested in pursuing, Joe then got back to me a couple of days later with a detailed, itemized proposal and costs for each of the projects via email. I was then able to pick, by my own priority, which ones we would go forward with currently and which we would save for spring. Joe then immediately updated the proposal to meet the job overall and we went forward. They began shortly after and worked swiftly to complete the jobs. They were accommodating to the schedule of the door delivery and I am impressed that they did not push me aside for other jobs because of that delay on the door manufacturer's part. The only glitch, that I wasn't prepared for, was the lintel that had to be installed and that was an add-on as the job was in progress. Joe gave me a very fair price and we moved forward without hesitation. They also installed a montauk blue tile to the roof in a random patchwork pattern(which I had requested and trusted they would just pick out for me) and sealed around the edges for waterproofing. A couple of glitches with the weather, rain etc., caused the seal to bubble and they came and fixed it immediately. The small storage room below our porch needed new concrete since the original was so thin that the moisture was coming up through the dirt. They worked quite fast and it was dug out, debris removed, new dry well built and installed, and concrete poured and smoothed in three days. Mo was the foreman and active worker on the job and he worked efficiently, and quickly with his guys to be in and out and soon as possible. Mo installed my door upstairs to the porch and worked tirelessly in our old, settling Brooklyn home to get it right and straight and level. Good job, Mo. Everyone was respectful and neat. They ran tarps and runners throughout and my cleanup was minimal after their departure. Joe called in to check periodically and called me right back whenever I had any questions or concerns. The prices are competitive and they did a very satisfactory job. Also, they wrapped it up right before Thanksgiving and out of town guests. I'm pleased, finally, with a contractor who did exactly what they said they would do and maintained their integrity. It was all very straightforward, very efficient, and without drama. I look forward to working with them again.

I did not realize I'd get an answer through this forum. This is certainly NOT defamation. After I sent a written complaint with photos to the Dept of Consumer Affairs I was contacted by Joe. He agreed to repair the concrete work. This damage was NOT caused by my vehicle. The only car on that driveway was a small SUV. My contention is that if I was supposed to use a particular type of salt to melt the snow, I should have been made aware of this. I'm a born and bred New Yorker and I've used salt without the sidewalk being affected. My father put down a sidewalk 20 years ago that withstood winters and salt so that's a load of crock. A pleasant pair of men came to the house. They power washed the concrete and applied a patch to the areas that had disintegrated into an area with pebbles (for lack of a better description). When they finished the sidewalk and driveway was smooth but looked like a patchwork quilt. They also had to return the next day to fill in the where the sidewalk did not meet the house. That was satisfactory. I'm sure others have had an excellent experience with this company but I think the initial job could have been done better.

It was so easy and stress free working with Joe. When you are a landlord living in another state it is very difficult to find contractors that are willing to work with you. Joe and his team didn't hesitate to work with me on this project. They made it so easy and stress free. I remember the morning I called his company to inquire about service I was already frustrated after dealing with 2 other contractors. After speaking with Joe's secretary I knew this was going to be a much better experience. Joe called me back within a couple of hours and by the end of the day he had already sent me a quote for the job. Joe and his team were more than willing to work with me and he explained everything that needed to be done. Once I signed the contract my job was completed in two days!!! I was stunned, I thought for sure it would take at least a week or more. Without even asking Joe sent me pictures of the completed project and it looks fantastic. My tenants even called me to tell me how nice the sidewalk looked. Thank you Joe and team. I appreciate your time and professionalism.

We were pleased with the attention given and the end result of this painting job. The workers were conscientious and detailed in the prep work, and did a fine job of painting. The job took four days and each day a foreman would stop by and call to make sure the project was going well. We did have a couple problems but these were quickly corrected. They tried to get a second coat on the same day as the first, but it started raining before they could finish. Even with covering up the work and tarping the ground there was paint runoff from the storm. JB returned on the next dry day, gave it another coat and cleaned up the ground cement. We also had a problem with the front light going out on the day of power washing, and though it turned out to be a broken wire JB sent an electrician to repair it with no additional charges. It was a pleasure working with this company and will be bringing them back in the spring for other renovations.

From beginning to end JB CONTRACTING-Joe and his crew kept in contact with us every step of the way. I was very IMPRESSED as to how attentive to detail, efficient, knowledgable, polite and punctual they were. Even his office staff were very helpful when necessary. Considering the massive work they did the price was reasonable. F I have another project coming up and I WILL be calling JB CONTRACTING again.

Joe from JB general contracting came and gave a detailed written estimate that included all the work they were to do. The crew came when they said they would with more than enough people to to do the work in the time specified. they even did more than the estimate when they noticed a couple of other areas that needed work. They were professional and courteous to my neighbors, cleaned up after the work was done. I have never worked with a better construction company than JB General contracting and Joe Battaglia and would highly recommend them to my friends and neighbors. I would use this provider again in the future.

One word, AWESOME. Mr. Joe B and his team were very punctual, professional and when the job was complete they cleaned everything up. Mr. Joe B. was very helpfully and his ideas and suggestions were great. Everything came out better than expected. The team were polite, helpful, very friendly and worked hard and fast. When we had a question or concern Mr. Joe B. answered our every question and concern without a problem. I would recommend Mr. Joe and his team for sure. We couldn't be happier.
