Job went very well. Extremely impressed with Justin's ability to listen to our description of what we were looking for, then transform the end product into more than we envisioned. We had an old brick/concrete front porch that he transformed into a updated stamped porch with stamped walkway to the garage. He suggested concrete stone veneer on facing that went beyond our expectations. He also transformed our bland straight concrete back stairs to look like stone blocks while extending the stairs to allow access from 2 sides. The third piece of the project was to repair our garage floor by re-coating and sealing.

We had Justin and his crew replace a 20 ft by 16 ft irregularly shaped brick patio, concrete steps, a 6 ft by 30 ft concrete breezeway, and 2 concrete sidewalks totaling approximately 150 square feet with stained and stamped decorative concrete. In addition, they installed a drainage system to move rain water off the patio, through the breezeway and into the yard. It was a complex and large job. As part of the job they removed and hauled away the existing concrete steps, concrete breezeway and sidewalks (I had removed the brick patio previously). They dug out where necessary - the new sidewalks were wider than the old ones, some digging around the edge of the patio was required and digging was required for the drainage system. Everything was graded with gravel and formed - and the patio required flexible pvc 1x4 forms because of the irregular shape. Lot's of rebar in the steps and around the edges of the patio and breezeway where they touched the house, and concrete wire for all areas. Hours of planning and work with a survey transit were required to ensure the drainage worked correctly and the concrete came to an appropriate level in each area. So while the price for the project may seem high, there was a lot of effort required. In addition, we chose to get stamped and stained finish on the concrete. To get the look we wanted Justin worked with us to understand what we were looking for, but he also put his ideas and design expertise into the process. We spend an afternoon driving around Owego with him to see prior jobs that also allowed him to see what type of features we were looking for. He suggested 'wedding cake' style steps which, while we would never have thought about it, are absolutely the right steps for the patio and my wife loves the result. We talked a long time about patterns and color palettes, and we are very pleased with the results. While I'm sure we could have gotten stamped concrete at a lower price, part of what we paid for was Justin's experience in the field and his design expertise. The result was well worth the cost. Justin and his team were professional and always on-time, the job site was cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day's work. All of the team were willing to answer questions at any point in the process, and they all made sure we knew what was happening and what would happen next.

We were fortunate to be one of his first major driveway projects and he did not stumble at any time. All went as planned and he was always and quot;on the joband quot; when needed. His helper and other crew were also outstanding, hard working individuals. He surrounds himself with these people that get the job done.

Before hiring J. Hulslander custom concrete, I contracted with another contractor, after making our third payment to the other company he did a no show. Three months later, my husband and I began seeking out other contractors, the problem was that we were looking during peak season for a concrete company. We called every concrete contractor in the yellow pages and got no where, every contractor was extremely busy. We became extremely nervous because the other contractor left our drainage pipe exposed and the ground unsecured, winter was soon approaching. As a last ditch I decided to use Angie's List, not really expecting much,however after clicking search the page returned with several concrete contractors. I quickly went through the concrete contractors information on the web page but was very interested in J. Hulslander information. He had pictures!! I made a list and began emailing and calling those contractors from my list I created. approximately 24 hours after emailing and leaving messages with those contractors that I had on my list , I received some responses. On my first meet and greet with J. Hulslander custom concrete, my expectations was not high. This was because of what I experienced with other contractors I met with earlier that week (Lets just say they had their opinions about what they saw), Justin of J. Hulslander custom concrete scanned the property as I walked and talked him through the ordeal. During that time he was mild mannered and even tempo not even flinching when I showed him the backyard, interesting!! I thought. Before departing he took measurements and stated that he would send my husband and I an estimate. Once receiving the estimate we met again and Justin went over all the details of the estimate making certain that both my husband and I understood everything. We signed the contract and a date was set for work to begin. On the first day work was to begin it rained, however Justin called my husband and I to reassure us that we should not feel discouraged work will be done as promised. Day 2 work began at 7:30am, by the time I got home from work it looked as though he had done a week worth of work, I was impressed. The same pattern continued throughout the week. I was really impressed, taking pictures and emailing my husband while he was at work. Everything Justin promised he delivered, I was ecstatic!! The Crew were professional and they moved quickly and efficiently. The completed project is gorgeous and my husband and I love it. I remember calling one of the reference Justin gave me and her comment was that and quot;everytime she looks at the work he did she loves it more and moreand quot; DITTO!! to that comment, and as my 11 year old son says about the compass he did for us and quot;it's AWESOME!!and quot; Thanks Guys.

His work was excellent, done quickly and for a good price. He worked with me on the design and offered many good suggestions.Overall was a very pleasant experience with a very good outcome
