My kitchen remodel was a disaster from the first day until the day I fired John 3 months later. The tear down was awful! I am attaching pictures as I can't do justice in my description. There was no clean up of the destruction for 4 days and only was it cleaned up when I called to complain that my eyes and hands were irritated from the insulation flying around the house. Mind you, my husband was home this entire time waiting for crew to show up and days went by with no shows. In the photos with the pink insulation, that sat in my living room from October 27 through at least November 5th. Oh yeah, in the tear down, they started ripping up my hardwood floor in the dining room. John offered to tile my dining room but that was just stupid...why would I want a tiled dining room. This then added a huge additional cost to me, because I had to now replace the hardwood in my 1st floor. He agreed to pay for the labor install until the final bill came and he changed his mind to something much less than the labor install. I could keep going on and on...however, I will attach some pictures and leave with this. My husband passed away at home on January 5th. The house is still unfinished. The expectation was, it would be complete around Thanksgiving. I fired John because of several reasons. The tile job, which you can see in photos, was the last straw. So many promises, so little progress. He came to my house to settle the final bill and tried to tell me I owed him $1300 more than the contracted final payment. When I showed him my cost summary that I had been keeping, he acted surprised. He not only didn't want to pay for the back splash tile that needed replacing (I payed for the original tile out of pocket), he didn't want to deduct the amount I was now going to pay someone else for finishing the job he started. I feel like he was taking advantage of the fact that I just buried my husband and would have my wits about me. Hire this company at your own risk! I have said my peace on Angie's List I am now contacting the BBB and will see if I can get some sort of justice for the most unprofessional, unethical and completely irritating contractor imaginable. P.S. I got 4 quotes before I chose John and Richardson Contracting. He was more expensive, but he sold us a song and a dance and I fell for it. Shame on me. Nancy Duke
