In addition to replacing three ornamental Japanese Maple trees damaged in the November Storm, we wanted to expand and upgrade some existing hardscape around our patio to surround a newly installed backup generator. We evaluated bids and designs from a total of three local contractors/nurseries and selected Murray Brothers for three reasons: 1. Their bid for the work was price competitive - not the highest, not the lowest 2. They asked a LOT of questions and were very proactive in offering suggestions on how to improve the design that we asked for (in the end we accepted ALL of their suggestions - which did increase the price - but absolutely worth it) 3. They were very friendly/easy to work with It took about 8 weeks from the time we confirmed the work to the work being completed (all of the nurseries/landscapers in the Buffalo area were swamped fixing November Storm damage - so the span of time was not unexpected - it was well communicated). During the install of the original project, we decided to add a new flagstone walkway to connect our patio to the edge of our woods (about 30') and then add a gravel path, edged with large 8-10" stones, from the edge of the new flagstone walk to a storage building/chicken coop about 30' into the woods. We received a very complete detailed estimate for the change order which we accepted. The work is now complete and it looks amazing. They were very professional and prompt and have followed up to ensure that we were satisfied with the work done by the crew.
Description of Work: Replaced three ornamental trees damaged in the November Storm, expanded a hard-scaped area, refreshed stone in the hard-scape and built a new flagstone and gravel walkway.

The job took a few days to complete and it was done to my satisfaction. There were 3 landscape workers on the job. One put down the flagstone walkway, which took quite some time on a very hot day. I should have been more involved in this part of the project because I would have made sure the stones used were all around the same size. It still looks good, though. While this was being done, the other 2 workers were preparing the hole for my new tree, planting it and staking it. I had a section of a bed that came out way too far and this was brought back about 20and quot;. Topsoil was then added and grass seed put down. The same was done around the new flagstone walkway. I don't know what type of grass seed was used, but that new grass grew in so fast and thick. As far as the new garden bed goes, the first layout was not exactly the way I wanted it but Jeff made sure it was redesigned to my satisfaction (small change - no big deal). The 9 plants were planted with even distance from each other and not too close to the house. All my garden beds (new/existing) were edged and then mulched. Only the new bed had top soil added to it. Before the landscapers left, they spent a good deal of time going over the proper method of watering the tree/plants. They were courteous and answered all my questions before I would let them leave. It is now 10 months later and my perennials look great as does my garden. I get many compliments on it and I get a great deal of pleasure from the end result.
Description of Work: Jeff ,the foreman and landscape designer from Murray Brothers Nurseries, arrived at my home at the agreed upon time for my landscaping estimate. He took photos and notes, discussed options and possibilities for perennial plantings, changes that could be made to my existing plan and designs for the new sections. I had many questions and Jeff was very patient answering them all. In a timely manner, Jeff phoned me to make a follow-up appointment to go over the newly designed plan. My budget did not allow me to do everything that was depicted on the drawing but we pared it down a bit and came up with a plan I could afford and live with. The work included the following: - reducing the size of an existing bed - creating a brand new bed in a different area - the planting of 9 perennial bushes (burning bushes, Japanese box woods, hydrangea) - spreading of top soil in the new bed - edging the beds ( front, side and back yards) - spreading mulch over new bed and existing beds in the front, side and back yards - seeding areas of the lawn - laying down a flagstone walkway - planting a lotus tree
