The salesman stated that his boss would not allow him to meet with me to provide an estimate for replacement windows as MY HUSBAND could not be present for the appointment. He stated that according to the Better Business Bureau this decreased the likelihood they would close the deal. I was quoted statistics on this. I handle estimates for all our maintenance needs and my husband is never available for them. I now quote my own statistic: There is 0 % chance I will ever do business with this company in the future. Update: I have contracted with another company for the work and they did not ask about my husband.

Brian Marsh was out to my home and we discussed what I needed and what the procedure would be. I was happy with that. Then we set up an installation date and Dave and his crew were very punctual and efficient. Installers were polite, professional and clean up of the job was preformed very well. I am very happy with Modern Windows and would recommend them to friends and family.

Dave and other 2 workers were cordial, hardworking, work was done neatly and timely. Problem with replacement door that salesman should have - discussed at time of purchase. Too much of a step for sliding door replacement. Company is handing the issue.

Two windows needed to be replaced, and the men and office staff handled this right on the spot. Any questions I had before, during and after they readily answered and gave professional advice. Already with the A/C we notice a change.

I recently purchases a home to rehab and sell. I called about having the two front picture windows replaced. I spoke with James and explained my situation. He asked if I was married and my wife's name. I though that was strange and told him this did not involve my wife and the house is in just my name. I realized they want do to a high pressure sale and have my wife present. I have not time for this nonsense and promptly hung up. Will never do any business with them.

Dave Jr. replaced patio door. Very good job. Door had 40 years warranty. Replaced at very good price, also are replacing glass that clouded. Very good company.

The four-man crew arrived on time and were very efficient. It took approx. 5 hours for all the work to be done. When they left, everything was clean and neat.

Friendly workman. Very professional. Cleaned up all debris.

Originally, we entered Modern Window's $5000 sweepstakes. When a nice young lady called to confirm our entry, she explained that entry into the sweepstakes would only be valid if we allowed them to come and do a free estimate. She also stated that the estimate would include a voucher that would be good for 1 year, if we decided to go with Modern, they would come back and honor that voucher. It seemed harmless enough, so of course we agreed. This is how they first gain entry to your home. When the salesman came out, he seemed friendly and knowledgeable and he did a great demonstration of their product. We made it clear that we could not afford windows at this time, we entered the sweepstakes and accepted the free estimate because if we won, then we would be able to get some new windows. We mentioned the voucher and that we would probably invite them back in the next 12 months to talk again about windows. That's when the cracks started to show. The salesman said the prices would increase by then and that the amazing deal he would give us today would not be available again in the near future. He said the voucher was just a discount voucher and by no means locked in any price or estimate for any length of time. He said the girl on the phone must've miscommunicated what that voucher was really good for. Then he continued to apply the pressure, "FEMA is changing the Energy Star regulations and now is the time to buy." He used a three pronged approach to guarantee a "yes". "If the product is affordable, and it's good for your family, and it's good for your home, then give us a try." Then he proves why it's good for your home and family, and shows you how you can afford it." We say we want to sleep on it, and he gets a little more aggressive, saying, "I thought we had a deal here." Then he offers to step outside for 15 min and let us talk it over. He comes back in after 3 minutes and applies the pressure again. All well and good, he was a skilled salesman and I respect that. But I wanted to do business with a company I could trust, not just a company with crafty salespeople. Here's the problem, he doesn't really care about what's good for your family, he's there to make a sale. The reason I know this is that we are getting more work done to our home now and the replacement windows that we just got from Modern violate our Town's fire code. They are too high off the floor to allow safe egress in case of fire. Our brand-new, expensive windows must be removed and replaced with "egress windows". This makes sense. In case of fire, I want my wife and children to be able to get out safely, not be trapped in their bedrooms. So why would a window professional, who hammers home the "good for your family" sales pitch, not mention (even once) to consider adjusting the window frame to meet the egress requirement dictated by the fire codes? He knew our home was a fixer-upper and that we planned to do siding and roofing as well. He knew (or should've known) that at some point, we would encounter this issue of needing safe egress from bedrooms in case of fire. He knew we had one small child and a second due in the next couple of months. Moving on to the install, the crew was pleasant and efficient but when our old kitchen windows were removed and outside air was blowing freely into our home, we began to smell cigarette smoke. Keep in mind that the install crew were all aware of our 1-year old child and the fact that my wife was pregnant. I spoke to the crew and discovered an installer was smoking outside. He was apologetic and pleasant but I wonder why someone would even smoke in close proximity to an open home in those circumstances. They said they would do a full cleanup and remove all traces of their presence so that other than your new windows, you would never know they were there. We asked how they would avoid getting dust and debris in our baby's crib and on our bed and they were adamant that they would cover them during the install and thoroughly vacuum when finished. When they were finished though, we found plenty of debris and dust on our bed and in the crib. A supervisor told a crew member to go in there and vacuum again and he apologized. But even after that, we still had to vacuum and clean every area where they installed new windows. I understand it's difficult to get every little bit of debris cleaned up during a short time but then perhaps it's best not to make the claim that you will or allow the crew more time to clean up when finished. They were actually in such a hurry that they were all about to leave when I said that I hadn't even received an explanation of the new windows features and functions. A senior crew member apologized and then took the time to go over those details. Despite the crews politeness, I still felt they could've been more aware, attentive, and thorough. After 3 months, a gentleman calls and asks about our satisfaction with the new windows and then moves on to say the salesman wants to come out and talk about some amazing discounts direct from the factory that we could use to do the remaining windows. We explain that we still have a long way to go to pay off the current windows. Then they give you the voucher pitch again and the salesman comes by and says he's here to sell you more windows. At that time we talk openly with the salesman about their aggressive tactics and the early stages of our growing dissatisfaction. He talks candidly about how he is here to make a sale and that he would not be a good salesman otherwise. He expresses frustration with the office staff's use of the voucher tactic but explains it is their job to get him in your door. The whole thing starts to stink a little worse. 3 months later we get another thinly-veiled phone call asking how we like our new windows and then we're informed about some amazing new discounts that Modern is offering (different from the factory discounts a few months prior) and that the salesman would like to come out and tell us about them and how we could use those discounts to do the rest of our windows. This time, we are adamant. No. We now get the impression that all their follow-up calls are not simply courtesy calls. They are also appointment setting calls to facilitate more sales. That rubs me the wrong way. Now, the worst part, as I mentioned earlier we've learned that these expensive windows we purchased are not compliant with fire safety codes and have to be removed and replaced. I call Modern to discuss this on a Friday and nobody is there I can talk to. I call again the following Monday. I get no call back. I call again the following Friday and there is nobody there I can speak to directly. One gentleman finally calls me back and says that next Monday they will follow up with me to resolve this issue. As it stands right now, I would not recommend Modern Window to anyone. Depending on how they handle this situation with the failure to inform us about egress windows, I may reconsider. At which point I would encourage people to consider them but be aware of all their tactics before they catch you off guard. Also, the best advice I can give to a home owner shopping for new windows is to educate themselves on things like egress windows, fire safety, and building codes in general because you can not count on the window salesman to do it. You might expect them to be knowledgeable about those things and you might expect them to educate you on them, but they're not necessarily going to do anything other than convince you to buy expensive new windows. Be sure to shop around and don't, no matter what, agree to or sign anything while that salesman is still in your home. Sleep on it, ask around, do research. Don't get burned like we did.

We had two company give us estimates, Modern came back second time. We decided to go with them. Their price is better for our budget and they assured that they had experience with Log homes (our big concern). They did a wonderful job on installation and clean up. Very friendly. We are happy! It’s summer now –house is cooler, we will see how winter will be – hopefully warmer. Windows actually block out outside noise, it’s quieter in house now.

It was a very pleasant transaction. I am a repeat customer and wonderful experience. The salesman was great. Installers were professional and courteous.

Everything went very smooth. The sales rep that we initially dealt with was very professional, showed up when scheduled, and did a great job explaining their product and our options. The installation crew showed up exactly when promised, did a great job on the installation, and completed the job quicker than we expected. All in all, a good solid job.

I originally posted great reviews on the sales team and install but it seems that is where the quality ends. After the install there was an issue with one of the standard windows not being frosted right (this is for a bathroom) and the main picture window has an imperfection in the glass. My mother was told that they should have something in a week since it was a standard. After two weeks my mom called again and was told it was not in and should be 2 week. After a month (8/25) she called again and was told it was in and just needed to schedule an appointment and that she would be contacted. Starting the first week of Sept, she called to see what the hold up is again and talked to Donna and was told that she or Phillis would call her back with a time. Of course, no call. At this point I have been calling every day since 9/8 and talking to Donna who says someone will call my mom to schedule the install and every day no one does. Today I called and I was fed the same line of crap and demanded to get compensated in some way for the aggravation and got a run around on that as well.. For a company who you will pay TOP dollar for you would expect and demand proper customer service. I would highly suggest anyone looking for new windows evaluate the whole package. Modern has a competitive lines but if you're going from old crappy windows to something new and HE, you might be better off going somewhere else and saving the money. This is one of the few cases that you don't get what you pay for. I will update my post on when and if this issue ever gets resolved and if they try to make up for their lack of service.

It went very well. They were professional. I appreciated that they cleaned up everything and took no where as long as I expected.

From the time they arrived, until the time they left, it was great. They worked fast and very well. They answered all questions to my satisfaction and in detail. A very friendly and knowledgeable crew. We are very happy with their work.

This is where they turned us off and became that "high sales" company. You know the ones similar to gym membership where they want to get you to buy buy buy and keep calling and calling..... At the time of our meeting with Norm he gave us a week to talk think over their quote. Seemed fair and we weren't looking to install in the next week or so, so not an extreme rush. They also do a great sales pitch of if you "buy today you'll save this amount off" but only if you sign today, Anything to get "the sale". My husband and l have busy work schedules these couple weeks with special work projects and clearly commuinicated we were going to talk it over. We needed to try to get the proper funds as well. The next couple days, They called like two or three times a day I would have several missed calls on my cell. Then, I get a phone call around 6pm at night from saying that they talked it over with the owner, and due to our circumstances we were eligble for a new lower quote BUT another guy had to come over and speak to us to give us the option. When i brought up that I thought Norm gave us the lowest price he insisted that again he come over and show us the new price. I asked if he could just give us the new quote over the phone and he said they had to come over.. i expressed that my husband was at work till 8pm that night and I woudl have to talk it over with him when a good time was. he was again insistent that we set up an appointment for guy #2 to come over. I expressed I woudl talk it over with my husband and call him back. He didn't want to take that answer, where he said" lets set up an appointment now". How's Sat? I said I haven't spoken to my husband yet. His response" What time Saturday is good for you, what works best?" Again, I need to speak to my husband and we can get back to you afterwards. I told him He gets out of work at 8pm that night. We will call them back. Well at 8:05 my cell phone is ringing again.. HELLO, he didn't even get home yet.. at 8:22 my phone is ringing again... husband still not home yet... Can you say aggresssive phone calls, harrasssing phone calls? Well, when my husband got home at 8:30 and when I told him what was going on..That's where you lost a good customer. You don't keep pressuring, and calling when I was being very honest with your company, we had busy work schedules, were REALLY interested in yoru product but the high pressure sales calls, is where you lost it.

The person in charge of arranging installations called me on the phone about 2 weeks after final measurements and said the windows are here and we plan on installing next Monday between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. At 8:30 3 men arrived.

Did a good job. Done in timely fashion.

They salesman had a good pitch, so much that we didn’t look at anyone else. One of the things we were upset about was one of the windows in a closet they said needed to be replaced when it didn’t. On one of the windows the molding was only set in and not nailed in, but this wasn’t a big deal. They were pretty professional and they were quick. The windows are good quality. The cleanup was good, but we did notice some dust and paint chips that were missed.

Men were on time, very professional. Did job on time and very organized.

All 3 workers did there job from start to finish. No problems at all. Very impressed and would recommend them to anyone.

They gave a quote I couldn't afford. They then called me back to let me know about factory incentives. Gave new quoteI could handle. Did the work with 2 crews all in one day (7.5 hours). Worked hard the whole time. Everyone I talked to was so nice and pleasant and knowledgeable.

The installation crew (3) was very professional. Asked questions if needed. Cleaned up afterwards.

I am very impressed! Initially, a kid walking through the neighborhood with a clipboard caught me doing yard work and asked about my windows. I had been meaning to replace all my remaining ones anyway, so gave the go ahead for him to mark me for a call. Soon, I had a rep at my house complete with propaganda, window samples, and a rather large packet of Angie's List reviews of the hand-written variety. We spent about 2.5 hours discussing the windows they offered, how they work, how to tell how many panes yours have, demonstrating lack of heat transfer with a lighter, and many other things. He was *very* thorough and had no issue at all addressing my skepticism with what were either hard facts and quality reviews, or impressively rendered fakes. When all was said and done, he quoted me (through a "neighborhood marketing campaign", a factory discount, and a bit of bargaining) about $4800 for nearly $8000 worth of windows. It seemed too good to be true, but I couldn't find any discrepancies in the pitch or defects in the samples, so before it was done I had placed a deposit on the work. He said work would likely begin by the end of the following month. I was in no hurry. The rep took measurements twice on every windows, but even then they had a second person (one of the lead crewman) come out a few days later to take another set of measurements and confirm they matched the previous. He also was able just by that quick look to identify 2 potential issues with installation and note them down. I got a call less than 2 weeks later that the windows were in and ready for install! The crew that came out were both very professional and fun to talk with. They knew exactly what they were doing and worked together to tackle multiple windows at once to speed the process. They encountered the issues that the crewman initially suspected, as well as a significant additional one (all related to how the frames were put in place and the like. Most of the windows being replaced were the originals from the 50's). Not only did I not get charged for these things, they even explained exactly what they encountered and how they were getting around or fixing the issues. The process took about 4 hours to complete, which is impressive considering at one point I had a hole nearly filling my living room wall! When the work was complete, they made sure that I went and looked at each installation and asked any questions before they left. All rubble, including the old windows, was cleaned up and removed. I didn't even need to sweep. The windows look amazing and were re-edged with wood trim. In the bathroom they even puttied around where the old frame was so it would be easy for me to touch up the paint later. It's now been nearly two months with both some hot weather and some cold and the windows have already made a major difference in temperature control. In addition, closing the windows now reduces outside noise so effectively that I have not noticed downpours while sitting next to the picture window in the living room with minimal indoor noise! Suffice it to say, I am *extremely* happy with the company and the product, especially at such an impressive price!
