We built a new home with Gerber in 2012. From the beginning we had nothing but issues. We provided a sizable down payment and were provided with an estimated start date that was not met by months. We were also told the completion would be 60-90 days from start which was not. We were put out and forced to stay with family even though they had a promotion that they would pay for your rent while your house was being built. After selecting the plan, we were told months later (after they were supposed to break ground and had our down payment) that there was a deed restriction on our lot for square footage. We needed to increase our square footage and were told they would spilt the cost of adding additional space. This was not acceptable as it was never disclosed to us to start. The subcontractors used are mostly subpar. We had issues with flooring, electrical, cabinets, HVAC to name a few. The materials used as low quality even though the price is not. Their customer service was not responsive and we ended up having to speak directly with the Vice President to even have our concerns addressed. After we moved in we had more issues and had to call multiple times to have them corrected. One subcontractor took almost an entire summer to fix a flooring issue. Our basement had flooding due to the AC not being properly installed and our circuit breakers tripped frequently due to poor electrical work. They offered a 3 year one time warranty to have any drywall settling cracks patched and we waited until the end and kept track. When we reached out to them their subcontractor called us a month or so later and gave us one available time the next day (which happened to be the week of Christmas - as if I wanted my house torn apart when family is around). We decided to pass as we found out we would still be responsible for all touch up paint anyways. We are now almost 4 years in and are still having issues. Most recently we started a project to add a deck and our contractor hit a pipe while digging. We were unaware that this pipe was installed during construction so we had no idea to be on the lookout for it. When we contacted Gerber we were told they would not assist on paying for the repair as it was so far past the date of construction. As far as we are concerned, this company does not stand behind their product and has very poor customer service. We built our forever home and trusted them and have been disappointed from the start. Please use caution and do your research when considering them for your project.
Description of Work: We built a new home in 2012 with Gerber as our contractor.
From start to finish it went very well. This company is very easy to work with and they make every attempt to keep you in the loop as things progress. Most notably, when they heard that our existing home had sold and we would have to put our belongings into storage, they stepped up their schedule to have our home built in less than 90 days. This allowed us to move our belongings only once. Aside from a few minor issues, which they addressed immediately, our home is everything we thought it would be. All of their subcontractors were very friendly and helpful. The on site supervisor (Mike) was incredible. He never made us feel as though we were bothering him or asking stupid questions. We are very happy with our Gerber home!

There were several people who attended the zoning board meetings to protest the additional work that we wanted to do on our home. John was succesful in keeping everyone focused on the task at hand which was the property line variance. His knowledge and professionalism won everyone over and we were granted our variance. Phase two of our construction is about to begin and John is the contractor for us in everyway.
Description of Work: We were wanting to add a 600 foot addition to our historic home in Fairport. The addition needed a variance for the property line and it took two meetings with the zoning board along with an additional meeting with the public water works. John from Gerber Homes was in attendance at all the meetings.

Although they were very Professional and very nice to work with, the quality of their work was very poor. For example, the roof between the addition and the existing part of the house has begun to sag in the middle and parts of the drywall seams inside the new addition are very visible and look terrible.
Description of Work: In 2010, I had a large addition put on my home by Gerber Homes.

I received three estimates for this job and Gerber Homes' was the best. The entire process was handled professionally and was completed in the quoted timeframe. The workers showed up when they said they would and put in a full day. They cleaned up after themselves and I was thrilled with the quality of the finished product.
Description of Work: New replacement windows throughout the home, new sliding glass door, siding outdoor trim repair & new walk-in closet built.

Once we received an initial quote from Gerber homes, we discovered that the original wooden shingles were on the roof with two layers of shingles on top of that. We informed Gerber homes about that, and they had to readjust their quote. Their quote was still better than any other quote we received, so we awarded the job to them. Be prepared for putting 50% down before they start. Once we did that, we had a longer wait for the work to begin than we would have liked. In any case, their crew did a great job under less than perfect weather conditions, and we will not hesitate to use them again, if the need arises..
Description of Work: Gerber homes remodeled work for my son who lives next door. They were reliable and performed quality work, as well as guaranteeing their work. Their experience is what led us to ask for a quotation on replacing our roof. We had our roof replaced in Nov. 12, and are pleased with the quality of work. Ours was a more difficult job because it was a three layer removal, along with installing new sheathing.

I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: I used Gerber Homes about a month ago. They worked on a garage and remodeled it.
I was pleased that for the electrical they sent Matthew's Electrical. And for the plumbing, they sent Fazzio Plumbing. For the carpentry they sent a gentleman that has his own business. So each man really knew their stuff.
Description of Work: They moved out the frame and expanded the floor in the "cubby area" for my washer. They installed a light over the washer and dryer. They installed a stationary tub in the basement. They also installed a light in the basement.

One person did all the work, and he was professional in all of the trades. Very impressed with his attention to detail, and care in ensuring all was done well. Work site was left spotless at the end of each day. He was also gracious enough to touch up a few areas outside the contracted work area. In areas where there were options, such as the location of the ceiling lights, he asked me for my preference. He did this for all of the job.
Description of Work: Added a kitchen pantry. Removal of part of existing wall. Removal of 30 sq feet of carpet. Add new 10 foot wall. Drywall new partition. Re-do ceiling. Add 3 light fixtures. Add 2 outlets. Add 60 feet of shelving. Install floor transition piece.
