It went very well, they finished my barn in 2 days. I had them do my house first and that was done very quickly also. Price was reasonable and fair.
Description of Work: Metal roof installed on barn and house.

As a result of hiring Rondout Contracting Co. so many things were done wrong I don't know where to start. First of all, when I contracted with him to do my roof he said it would be $10,000 for colored metal, $8,000 for mill finish. I chose to go with the mill finish and gave him a deposit of $3,000 to start the job. When he came to pick up the balance due he requested $6,500 additional. I was in shock as I was prepared to pay him $5,000 as the final payment. I spoke to him about it and he said he "forgot." So clearly he was looking to make additional money at the start. When the job was done the gutterson my house were taken down to install the roof, gutters I had installed two years ago with gutter guards, and they were reinstalled without the guards. I had to call him numerous times before he finally came out and put them back on. I specifically asked him to install the same type that he has on his house that go completely across the roof; instead he installed substandard snow guards after reminding him to install them when he came to pick up his final payment. I have attached pictures here showing the destruction to my plants since these guards fell off after the first snow storm. I now have three leaks in my ceiling when before my new roof was installed I had none. The reason I got a new roof was to avoid any problems before they occurred and now I have more problems and am out $8,000. One problem I planned to remedy with the new roof was the carpenter bees that I had drilling into my garage front and back fascia boards. After speaking with Robert Weaver about them it was agreed he would fully wrap the boards on both the fascias thus eliminating the area for the bees to drill since they go after unpainted wood and they were drilling from the underside of the boards. He instead wrapped only the front of the boards so now the bees are back and destroying the new paint job I had done after the roof was put on. Capping on the ends of the fascia boards are incomplete. The metal is left exposed and looks ugly AND dangerous. When he installed the vent boots on the roof he installed a damaged boot, which is what has resulted in my leaks. I have tried and tried to contact this company to no avail. They finally sent me a letter after many many phone calls and faxing over complaints stating "the flashing boot was brand new when installed, your PVC pipe is not secured inside so the snow boot pipe in turn bent the aluminum flashing. So if he knew the pipe was not secured why didn't he bring that to my attention???? Why would he put a boot on there knowing that it would get damaged, thereby damaging my home???? This man and his company are to be kept away from. He does not return phone calls, screamed obscenities when I finally did get through to him by blocking my number (why do I have to go through this process???) I had a hunch he was avoiding my calls and it was confirmed by this behavior.
Description of Work: Installed metal roof on top of existing shingle roof; removed gutters in process and did not replace gutter guards that were existing; placed vent boots on roof but did not ensure they were properly placed resulting in two leaks in my house; installed snow guards that were not sufficient for the snow load we receive in this area of NY, resulting in them coming off after first storm and not performing the job they were installed to do, which also resulted in completely destroying all of my foundation plants; he was also to wrap the front and back fascia boards of my garage since I had a problem with carpenter bees going after the unfinished wood - he only wrapped the front of the boards, which resulted in more carpenter bees.
