Sean's Tree Svc

A very large branch broke away from a huge oak tree in my neighbors yard. My neighbor hired Sean's Tree Service to come and remove the branch that was resting on the roof of their very high Victorian home. They had to use large equipment in a small space to first get the branch down from the rooftop. Then they had to cut the branch into smaller pieces in order to remove it from the side of the house. There is a short but very steep incline between my neighbors house and my fence (approximately 5-6 feet @ a 45 degree angle). In the process of removing this branch, the crew lost control of a large piece of log they had cut. It rolled down the incline, smashing into my fence, pushing it out from the bottom, splitting the wood and breaking my fence. My husband watched as the entire thing happened, but did not realize the extent of the damage as it was happening. The crew knew what they had done but went about their business and left for the day. That evening, I contacted the owner, Sean. He came over the next day to look at the damage and first said that "his guys didn't do that". I told him that we watched it happen and he said that the fence was old, so it was not his problem and he was not going to repair the damage done by his company. I agreed that the fence was not brand new but was still strong and regardless of those details it WAS standing nonetheless. I expressed that I did not want a new fence - just for them to repair their damage. He would not agree to do this. It was not worth the time or money to try and take him to small claims court, which I'm sure he counted on, so I just absorbed the cost and made the repairs myself.
