The advantages of working with a good quality small business is that they treat you like you would want to be treated and not just another customer. Our AC lines had frost built on the lines and not cooling as it should be. I reached out to them and they were very responsive and clearly very knowledgeable. They quickly diagnosed the problem and we're able to fix it quickly. They also were able to diagnose another issue we're having with our heater, which I'll be calling them back to fix in the fall. I appreciate the top-notch service.

Shane & Sons is a small family own company that you can depend on for honesty and professionalism. They are very knowledgeable in the Rheem products. Shane will not try to sell you something too small or big for your home size. His sons did the installation. Removed my old system and left the work area clean. I am so happy that I hired them and HIGHLY recommend them. Their price for the system was very reasonable. Thanks Shane & Sons!

While Shane was not licensed to work in the city my house is in, he actually spent time on the phone with my husband and diagnosed the problem. He even offered to talk him through the repair needed if we could not find a repair service that would come on a Saturday night. I can't say enough good things about him! A tremendous professional!

They offered me an acceptable option and a fair price. A week later they were back to do the installation. They arrived on time, were courteous and clean, and finished the job without any hassles or complications. Even though it is May, I am happy to have heat again. Thank you Shane & Sons!!!

This was the smoothest Home project we've done yet! I contacted Shane and sons for a quote back in March; they were able to quickly accommodate us on the schedule for the following week. Shane (the owner) came out and discussed what we wanted done and provided us a through quote (including possible rebates we would be eligible for). I explained I would be returning to work from maternity leave the following month and Shane promised to fit us in before I went back which we really appreciated. They let us know when they would be coming and what time to expect them at; when they arrived the workers introduced themselves and explained what they would be doing that day. They worked quickly and efficiently and got our items installed that same day!

My furnace stopped working. 1/8/17 OF course the coldest day so far this winter. I live alone and I am not very mechanical. I tried to get it started myself, but couldn't figure out the correct process. I called and he was at my place within an hour. He was Fast and very friendly. Would definitely call again for Repair or Maintenance.!

Great. Shane responded very quickly and juggled his schedule to fit me in as early as possible due to the water pooling on the floor. He didn't even charge me for the quick drain cleaning he performed! He had done and A/C clean and check recently, but the clogged drain isn't something normally reviewed.

I wouldn't say that it went well.  Last night the furnace wouldn't start.  It's done this a lot in the last couple of weeks.  I've just fixed it and that's the reason for this posting.
The new furnace was installed in late 2012.  Immediately thereafter I noticed problems.  The installation manual indicated that the furnace wasn't installed properly and we had no hot water because the gas to the hot water heater wasn't re-lit, etc.  Anyways, we gradually addressed these issues.  I re-lit the hot water heater myself because no one else did, and Shane arranged to have other companies come to fix the furnace.  In my opinion there have been too many issues.
Shane initially told me that there was nothing wrong.  After I posted a summary of his work on Angies list he threatened to sue me but eventually agreed to have another certified Rheem dealer look at the furnace.  To his credit Shane paid to have Hills Heating review his work.  Hills Heating noted that the plenum wasn't sealed at all, in violation of code.  They removed at least one dozen screws dropped inside the furnace on the heat exchanger by Shane & Sons.   This most likely occurred when the plenum was installed / screwed together.  Hills did a great job but Shane was concerned that they cost too much, so another company came to install the intake vent on the furnace.  The Rheem furnace installation manual requires this vent in my case because the furnace is near road salt in a small room with 4 walls and a door that also houses the clothes dryer.  Shane just left a hole on top of the furnace.  Fortunately he graciously paid to have the vent installed, albeit by a less expensive company.
Fortunately immediately after this installer left, I had the Town Codes Enforcement Officer stop by and we opened the doors to the furnace.  The combustion chamber on the furnace was completely filled and overflowing with dry maple leaves.  This is quite unusual because we have nearly 300 pine trees on our 1 acre property and only 1 maple tree.  The maple tree is 1/2 acre away from the furnace vent, blocked by the house and about 60 pine trees, way on the other side of the house.  I cleaned out the leaves myself and contacted Shane's less expensive installer.  They advised that the leaves may have come from the duct pipe that they used.  They may have been inside the pipe that they delivered.
Today, nearly 3 years later, the furnace wouldn't fire up intermittently.  It was off for 5 months, the longest we've ever left our furnace off for.  WE just ran the A/C in the summer.  The furnace started but the gas wouldn't ignite.  I contacted Hills Heating and was told to check for obstructions in the vent.  I opened the combustion chamber door and the furnace fired right up!  I took a leaf blower to the vent, and out pops a very old maple leaf!
I'm glad to say that the furnace is working fine now but displeased that I paid three thousand dollars for this mess.
In my opinion Shane tries to do a great job, but sometimes things don't go as well as planned.

Response from Shane & Son's Heating & Cooling

"[Member Name Removed] please take my apology. We strive to give the best service and price were we feel a customer don't get a nickel and dimed to death on an old unit. it. As I recall you had several problems with your unit and the cost to repair would have been high to repair. We did discuss different levels to repair the unit and the cost to do so. Again we are sorry."

I received 4 or 5 quotes to replace my dead AC unit and 21 year old furnace; I decided to go with Shane & Sons because they offered Rheem's top of the line furnace for a lower price than the other companies' mid to low range furnaces. (All companies' quotes for AC units were lower end models.) Installation fellas seemed to know their stuff; they started at 9:30 and finished up at 5:00. After the rebate from National Grid, the total cost was just under $4100 for a 2000 square foot home.

Shane was great!  I liked that I spoke with him directly before scheduling the service call (and he was right by the phone; I didn't have to wait for a technician to call me back at his/her convenience), and it helped to explain my situation so he could come prepared with the required part.  I called at the end of the day and was facing an overtime charge, which was still very reasonable, but he came out and fixed the problem quickly enough so I didn't incur the extra fee.  He was happy to answer all of my questions while he was working on my unit and told me what I could do in the future if I want to troubleshoot on my own.  He was pleasant, very professional and didn't waste any of our time.  I am putting his number in my contacts so I don't have to go through the hassle of calling various people and price shopping.  And his price was almost half of other quotes I received...thank you, Shane!!

I called Mr. Shane to diagnose and repair the fan in my furnace and to do a routine service. He arrived during the range of time he told me to expect him and set to work. In short order he found a thin sheet of insulating paper which had found its way to the fan over time. He estimated that it could have been in the system for years and finally made its way to the fan. Then he serviced the furnace and was done quickly.
