Description of Work: They came out to give me an estimate for roofing.

Description of Work: We had them do an estimate on gutter replacement. It took them forever to answer our phone call to set up an appointment. Once they did come, it also took another few weeks for the rep to do research on the project. His proposal was about 25% higher than others in the area.

Description of Work: 1. Converted walk-in closed to bathroom. 2. Sprayed foam insulation in attic. 3. Replaced windows.

Description of Work: Removed roof shingles and decking on one side of house, replaced with new decking and shingles. Added soffit vents to garage. Repaired three areas of broken exterior vinyl siding. Sprayed 5 attic areas with foam insulation under the decking (foam work done by a subcontractor); installed a high-efficiency "always on" bathroom fan in one bathroom and a bathroom fan timer in another bathroom (all electrical work done by a subcontractor) to increase removal of moisture from the house. All jobs were overseen and inspected by Ivy Lea personnel. Work was done on time, cleanup was always pretty good though not immaculate, and cost estimates were adhered to. The outside work was done in miserable weather conditions on some days, but they stayed with it. No delays. Ivy Lea's office personnel routinely called us to notify when workmen or inspectors would be at the house. Job took about 5-6 days altogether to finish. Of the contractors who looked at the problem, Ivy Lea made several trips to the house by different specialists and did testing of air flow in my house before they came up with a diagnosis and solution for my attic issues. These visits are likely reflected in the price I paid, but they did lots of analysis before suggesting the solution. Other companies I spoke with just wanted to dive right in and do something. Some of their solutions would not have been the best. With what Ivy Lea proposed and did, my attic temperatures are now much more even with the rest of the house and the attic condensation problems that the north side of the house was experiencing are now gone. Ivy Lea wasn't cheap, but they were effective. I think they and their subcontractors did a good job and I would definitely call them out again should I need another analysis and estimate for home repair or remodeling.

Description of Work: This post is a follow up on the work we had done on August 17, 2011 and posted on Angies List on October 5, 2011. The flat roof over our front bedroom dormer was replaced. When we originally had Ivy Lea come out to do the estimate, we expressed our concerns and desire that the ornamental brick (which covered the dormer on the front and side) be sided. Mr. John Washington advised us that was not necessary, as the root of our problems was that the flat roof was leaking--not the brick. He explained how replacing the roof would do the trick, along with some extended trim work along the side. Without getting on the roof to look at it he gave us a price and an explanation which sounded plausible. Maybe we were just so desperate to get this problem resolved that we didn't engage our common sense. We went ahead and had the roof replaced as originally reported on 10/05/2011. Well, the first northeastern (hit the dormer head-on) storm that hit in November caused water to come in thru the dormer in question onto our living room ceiling. We called Ivy Lea and explained the problem. I've got to admit, they came out pronto. Their employee was punctual, professional and pleasant. He got up on the roof, looked around, took pictures, then explained how there are cracks in the brick and fissures and we would need the brick repointed. Hello!!!! Really? Like that's what we said last year.....but Mr. John Washington didn't think so, even though he didn't even go on the roof or look at the brick to begin with!!!!!!!!! Ok, send us an estimate. We got the estimate. But it was only for the "front" of the dormer, not the side. I don't even know if he looked at the side. It further stated on the estimate "no guarantee of the work" would be extended because of the existing problem....Isn't that why people have work done? Because there is an existing problem? No guarantee? Are you kidding? Sure, I could've called to complain, but this is now "two strikes." I will not be calling them again. Not to complain, not to get them out again, and never, never to recommend them. Let's pass the buck. I guess we were just stupid. Don't be stupid, don't hire these people. We paid for a flat roof to be replaced which was not necessary and we still have the problem!!!

Description of Work: They did some additional work in the bathroom for us in July of 2010. They also put on a new roof several years ago and they insulated the house. They put a soffit on the outside too. They did put on a new chimney cap and did some tuck pointing work for us over the summer as well.
