BUSH TOPSOIL

We ordered a truck full of topsoil for our garden from Bush Topsoil after calling for prices and their price was the least expensive. What a mistake. The soil was supposed to be screened and cleaned but was clearly neither. The entire load was full of stones (some up to 3" wide) and absolutely filled with crane fly larva which we had to pick out by hand or else they will eat plant roots - not what we want in a garden! The worst part was when I (very politely) called to see if they had other complaints, a gruff seemingly older man answered and when I asked about the larva, said he had never heard of such a thing and that I was "talking out of my head" (whatever that means!). He then told me that the rocks in the soil would help keep the soil warm....um, maybe so but I didn't order rocks, I ordered screened (1/4") topsoil. He then used profanity with me and I quickly got off the phone (but still politely). I have never been spoken to like that before, especially from someone to whom I had just written a large check, and I was shaking when I got off the phone. We decided to just take the blow and not pursue it further since the response was so ugly and not worth the time and effort. We will have to clean out all the soil next year before we replant. Needless to say, we would never recommend this company and I wish I had spent the extra $50 and gone with a more reputable company.
