WILLMAN SERVICE

Last year I called Willman's have my oven repaired. The repairman came out and was having trouble diagnosing the problem. He said he would do some research and get back to me. He never did. Even after three subsequent phone calls on my part. Last week, in need of a different oven repair I decide to try again. They are a local business for me, and I try whenever possible, to use support my local businesses. My bad. I made two phone calls to the office on two different days Both calls were answered by a secretary who said I would get a call from the repairman/owner to schedule an appoinment. Not even the courtesy of a return call.

Helpful with required estimate and communicating with insurance company

Great. The technician was prompt and repaired the problem quickly. He also gave me tips to prevent problem from recurring.

They were great. Oh I'd give them an "A" for overall, they were great. I'd give them an "A" on price, they were right on line. The quality was excellent. Responsiveness, they came right out. They were right spot on these guys. They were excellent, they diagnosed it immediately and fixed it. This is who I'm going to use in the future.

They could have sold me an expensive fix it job on the washing machine which was a maytag neptune. They correctly told me to junk it, and just buy a new one since I would have further problems down the road. The repairman was very personable. And HONEST!

After trying to resolve this problem for over 2 months with the owner, I finally have to write a review I don't want to write. Our dishwasher was overheating and we decided to call a local service after having problems getting a hold of Sears, the manufacturer of the Kenmore dishwasher. A gentleman came out and spent 36 mins trying to diagnose the problem and couldn't. He left saying it's either 1 of 2 things, please run a cycle, and let us know which problem it is. Upon hearing that, and paying $150.33 for his 36 mins of time after leaving without fully diagnosing the problem, we decided to give Sears a call one more time. Sears came out, and within 30 seconds diagnosed the problem: the mother board was shot. This was done with a diagnostic test apparently available to all repairmen. Upon hearing that, I called Willman back and explained the above. I also explained on their own website they did not list Kenmore as dishwashers they serviced. So, I thought that may have been in the problem, but she said they do service Kenmore. She was also surprised that her repairmen did not use the diagnostic test and that she was also surprised that he left putting it on our hands, and said she was going to speak to him right away. More than 2 days later I got a call by the gentleman, returned his call less than 1 day later, and never heard back from him. I proceeded to call the woman again a few weeks later, she remembered me, and was going to speak to her repairman and call me back right away. 5 days later, and after 2 phone calls, she finally picked up the phone and refused to let me speak to the repairman. She was immediately defensive and would not let me speak. And when I did, she didn't want to hear what I said. She also questioned (the previous time as well) why wouldn't I call them back if the dishwasher wasn't fixed after they came back. I proceeded to tell her that if I take a broken car into a mechanic and a mechanic gives me my car back still broken and doesn't know what the problem is, why would I go back to them. She also proceeded to inform me that I paid for a 90 day guarantee (for $90) that if there are any problems, I'm covered for trip charges. I asked her where was that listed, she said it's not listed and I should both know and she would have told me. I explained that we spoke to you to set the service, had a repairman come out, and further spoke to you again, and that was not mentioned. She only wanted to believe her repairman's side of the story and would barely let me speak my side, and my wife's side. She refused to return my money and unfortunately I feel that I need to tell you my experience. I guess sometimes the customer isn't always right.

The repair man, Scott, was fantastic. He assessed the problem, explained explained it to me thoroughly and fixed it in a timely manner.

I called an got an appointment a few days later. We received a reminder phone call the day before. Scott, the appliance repairman came to our home during the time he was scheduled to be there. He was absolutely top notch! He assessed the situation and then explained what he thought the problem was. He tried to fix it without ordering a new part. The machine still did not work properly, so Scott told me that we could order a part, and although he thought it would probably fix the problem, he said it was not a 100% fix. He gave me all the options. He gave me a price of the part, a harness, that he thought would do the trick. He said that he would take the gamble on the cost of the part to see if it worked because the cost to replace the bar refrigerator would be much, much more costly. Scott ordered the part, came the next week, and installed the part. The bar refrigerator is working well now. We were not charged for a second trip out to install the part. We were only charged the cost of the part and labor (which was minimal). We are very pleased with the knowledge and professionalism of this company. In fact, we are having them come out to provide a service maintenance on our Five Start gas range. We highly recommend Willman Service and will use them in the future.

What a pleasure to deal with Willman's. From my desperate call to fix my dead refrigerator and their effort to squeeze in a repair the same day to the punctual appearance of a competent and friendly repairman who put up with my 94 pound dog and curious 1 year old granddaughter, this was a very good experience! The price was fair, the service excellent and my refrigerator is humming!

I contacted the provider for service, as their ad says they serve all of westchester. Apparently they serve all of Westchester but my town? VERY unprofessional. Why does it was all of westchester?

Scott was very pleasant and efficient. Diagnosed the problem and installed the replacement part (which he had in the van) immediately. Showed me exactly what was wrong with the faulty part, how to put the disassembled freezer back together properly if the need ever arose, left the worksite clean, checked to see if the new part was working properly, reset the fridge/freezer to the correct temperatures, etc. While these kinds of experiences are never perfect and range from "pretty good" to "horror story", this service call was about as good as it gets. Finding service providers? from the doctor to the plumber?that are professional, competent, and do what they say they are going to do should not be hard to find. But they are. Willman Service is one of the keepers.

I have to say this was a very disappointing experience with Williman. My electric GE oven displayed a F3 error message which indicated an issue with the sensor. After doing a little research I was able to locate the part on the Internet. My first call was into GE who offered to come out for $95 plus labor and cost of the part at 25% discount being $55. But they couldn’t tell me the cost of the labor. I then called Willman which gave me a service price of $95 and $30 labor cost for every 15 minutes which I found very reasonable. They called back and stated the part would cost $120. I explained I went to four different sites and the price ranged from $96.32 to $88.96 with the GE website asking $89. Willman asked what part was I looking at which turned out to be different from the part they were quoting. You’re able to look at the parts on the web and unfortunately the part I was quoting was an exact replica of the part for the oven. I emailed the pictures to Willman to show the difference. I didn’t want them to come to the house with the wrong part. At the very least bring both parts. Willman said they would call me back. The didn’t call back that afternoon so late the following morning I placed call into them. At which point I was told they didn’t want to do the work because it was too confusing and told me to call GE. As a first rate company Willman could have called back in a timely manner with their decision. I could of had GE come out prior to the weekend and not the following week. Being I was planning a special dinner on Sunday I felt this was very poorly handled. I would think Willman would be grateful for the “heads up” so they wouldn’t come out with the wrong part and so as not have to make two service visits.

A good experience from start to finish. Willman has good phone manners, and so setting up an appointment was easy, with efficient communication. The repairman showed up at the early end of the time estimate, not at the last minute, and was friendly, courteous, efficient, and honest. The cost of repair would equal the cost of replacement, and he flat out said that, with no song-and-dance designed to run up the bill. The service cost was reasonable, about $40 less expensive than another service I had called. I would, and will, recommend Willman Service to anyone who needs and appliance repaired.

I called for service on a stackable gas dryer, which would have required a visit by 2 service people, which would have been expensive and difficult to schedule. So upon the recommendation of the call receptionist, I decided to think about it. Meanwhile, I wanted to rule out a problem with the dryer vent and I found the problem, which was a large bird nest blocking the exhaust. Fortunately, that solved the problem. The impressive part is that the receptionist called back the next morning with a recommendation of a father/son team that would deal with the stackable dryer. She used the caller ID to call me, even though I didn't get to the point of leaving my name. Her thoughtful response was well beyond the normal service. When I explained that I found a bird nest and solved the problem, she said that often happens and I thanked her for her follow up call. I wanted to leave a positive review, because I find this kind of follow through very rare. This is the kind of service provider that I hoped to find by joining Angie's List.

I was very impressed with the repairman who came. He (Scott) was efficient, patient, courteous and knowledgeable. (I had problems with both my refrigerator and dishwasher.) I'll use the company again if I had another problem. I put N/A for the price because I really don't know if what they charged was a lot or not since I don't know what rates are for the type of work done. It took much longer than he expected because he had to wait a very long time for the ice around frozen refrigeration coils to defrost essentially on their own.

They were on top of everything. When they didn’t hear from me, they called me!

I had an ongoing dispute with this provider. Once, after a service technician failed to show for an appointment and I left a complaining message, the office worker who responded called me a liar. They misdiagnosed the problem with my GE gas. range, later explaining that aren't an authorized GE repair shop don't do a lot of work on them. After 2+ months of dispute, I cancelled their attempts to repair my range and asked for a refund. They offered a partial refund even though they had misdiagnosed my problem and installed an unnecessary replacement part. This was the most unpleasant customer service experience I have ever had.

We all came to the same conclusion that the cost of the part and the age of the machine didn't warrant the cost of a repair so we just paid for the service call. However, he did offer to check the clothes dryer...no fee. He made sure the vent to the outside was clear and that the hose was in good shape which was a kindness.

Very professional and helpful. Would definitely recommend and would not hesitate to hire again.

I was not so impressed with them. They didn't get back to me with the estimate and I even called them, but they still never responded. When they looked at the appliance they left screws hanging from the washing machine.

They came early in the morning Saturday and were on time. Scott said that he did not know how to fix it and said that he was going to call someone else who knows and was going to contact me back on Monday. He thought it was a computer panel problem on the dryer. He was there for a total of 15 minutes. He never called back. I called the company back and they said that Scott would get back to me. Scott never got back to me again and when I was in contact with the company again all they cared about was getting my credit card information. They did not care about actually solving the problem. I gave them my credit card information. Then, when I called again they said that they do not make the part anymore. I will not use this company anymore for complicated manners.

Scott was great. He is extremely conscientious and honest and does excellent work for a fair price. We have used Willman 4 times and have been very happy each time. It took a little longer for him to be able to make an appointment for us this last time because he was rather booked up. I am not surprised he is in demand!
