Jeff and his wife kept in contact with me on a regular basis He did an assessment of what needed to be done in addition to what i asked him to do. He discussed what his findings were before doing anything. He handled very difficult tenants with respect and always "pacified" them when they wanted him to do more I will be having him look as some work at my home also

Overall things went smoothly,his assistant called, we made an appointment for an estimate, work was scheduled and preformed in a timely manner.

Work being done was fully explained and all went very well from start to finish.

Back in December we had a certain so called "HOLMES" come in to remodel our bathroom. He told us he was like "HOLMES" and always fixed everyone's problems. He showed us pictures of work he did....... At least we thought it was work he did. He was a very good talker and this being our first time dealing with a contractor fell for every word he said. He had all these great ideas etc... Well it was the exact opposite. This guy caused us so many problems including bad electrical wiring, totally horrible tile work, replaced our ceiling and made it even worse! Well thank god we were able to find Jeff Eckes from LOCAL DAD REPAIRS here in Dutchess County. Jeff came in and gave us a fair price and told us exactly what he needed to do. He also explained EVERYTHING he was doing and why it had to be done. Jeff honestly knows basically everything about home repairs inside and out explained to us in words we could understand. Jeffs preparation and cleanup was great, always covering areas so they would not get dirty or damaged and when he left it was like no one was ever in the bathroom.Jeff ended up doing all the tile work in our bathroom, replaced our ceiling, fixed the electrical wiring, installed recessed lighting, replaced all trim work ( including soap/shampoo recessed shelves in the tub area which was something our original "HOLMES" said could not be done ), installed a bathroom fan, fixed plumbing job and installed our vanity. The tile work did take longer than expected and to Jeffs credit he stuck to his original estimate which is something we as customers highly value. Any other contractor would have said " sorry it took me 25 hours extra so heres another bill". Jeff understood our budget and stuck to his original price. When it was all said and done our bathroom came out exactly the way we wanted it. What first started off as a nightmare ended up being a situation that we were happy with and thankful we found Jeff to fix the mess for us. After our bathroom was done we did some research on our original contractor. It turns out he was already sued in NY for doing the same thing to other families. We actually found an article on this guy from ABC news which did a big story on him. So one thing we learned is to research your contractors before you decide to do any work with them. Do not be afraid to ask for licenses, referrals etc...If we did this we would have saved a lot of time and some unneeded stress.

SPECTACULAR! This is the company you want. Local Dad repair is the best. Jeff can build a house from foundation to finishing touches. He is professional, courteous, helpful and extremely competent. I found myself in fear after a divorce about keeping the house going. Jeff is available around the clock. I am totally at ease now knowing he is a phone call away. He advises you properly, tries to save you money but guide you accordingly. He has offered me discounts and his work is truly the best. Jeff optimizes the true professional. I had previously called Jeff Eckes (Local Dad Repairs) to ask his advise on my plans to rearrange the living room & entertainment system. He gave me some ideas, then, a day or so later, came over to my house to assess my plans. Once the floating shelf and TV wall mount arrived, I made an appointment with Jeff. I really wanted to have this job done before Christmas and true to his dedication and professionalism, Jeff came over the next day. Now, this job is simple by Jeff's standards. But my two brain cells couldn't do it even if world peace depended on it! Jeff arrived with all the tools necessary to hang the floating shelf and TV mount. Jeff assembled the floating shelf and quickly mounted it to the wall. He then took measurements to place the TV mount evenly and appropriately above the floating shelf. To watch him work is like watching Michael Jordan in his prime. He makes it look too easy. He was done in no time. Afterward, we talked about other needs of my house. As usual, Jeff was very generous with his knowledge and advise. My wife and I think it a God send to have found Jeff on Angie's List. He does fantastic work. He is friendly, reliable, professional, dependable and trustworthy. He is also on our speed dial !!

All of the repairs I required of Jeff (Eckes) were pretty simple and straight forward. The main point I'd like to express in this review is that repairs #1 and #2 listed above were previously performed by two other "handymen" listed on Angie's List. In other words, I had to hire Jeff to re-do what the other two did incompetently. The ceiling drywall was previously done by another "handyman." It looked good after he was done, but some weeks later the drywall started to bulge. I called him to take a look at it as well as to do some other work. He never called me back. The previous work on my clothes dryer vent was a nightmare! My wife realized that whenever the clothes dryer was being used the room became a sauna. Oddly we just had the vent cleaned not two months prior (by another "handyman" from Angie's List). I called Jeff Eckes to take a look at the dryer vent and he discovered that the previous "handyman" tangled the vent tube (behind the wall) so no hot air from the clothes dryer was passing through AT ALL!! Essentially, the previous "Handy" idiot created a fire hazard. I suppose it would behoove you, who is reading this review, to know the two previous incompetent "handymen" but I prefer not to malign them. Rather, I will say that Jeff Eckes is a first rate "handyman"/contractor. He is skilled, efficient and easy to speak with. I picked his brain about other home projects and he is very generous with ideas. My wife liked him and that's very important to me. Jeff brings the tools needed (not like a previous one) and he cleans up after he is done. His rates are par (if not less) to other contractors I've dealt with. He was the easiest I've had to deal with and I will be calling him again. The moral of my review is this: If you need something fixed (big or small), or if you need major home renovation, call Jeff Eckes FIRST. Then you won't have to pay twice for the same job.

The work is impeccable, which is paramount. Sometimes start time was a few hours later than scheduled, which threw some plans out of whack.
