+ -1 moref we had a snow storSome issues were found within the first hour of the demo and a few others were discovered over the next few days. Some of these were wires running across where the opening for the shower stall would be and some extremely crooked wall angles. The outside wall was almost 2" off from bottom to top. The bathroom floor was much lower than the kitchen floor and had to be built up. The weather had a negative effect also as extreme cold temperatures delayed Jeff being able to run the vents for the exhaust fans through the roof. He also lost a day to plowing obligations due to a nasty snow storm.While the issues set Jeff back about three days overall he fixed everything so it was done right. He always gave me an explanation of the problem and what the various options were. He got the tub in by the first weekend so we could clean up and had everything ready for me to paint by the second weekend. The overall length oh his part of the renovation took 16 days and we are very happy with it.
Description of Work: We had our bathroom enlarged and modernized. The existing 32" shower stall was removed from the 6'x6' room and a wall between the bathroom and the second bedroom was removed. A new full size tub and shower stall was installed where the closet to the bedroom was. A new larger vanity was then placed in the corner where the old shower had been located.

Description of Work: Jeff and his crew completely gutted our TV room. It still had the old lathe & plaster walls and a tiled ceiling. The floors and door openings were sealed and the rest of our downstairs was dust free. The old floors in the room above were sagging and "bouncy". At Jeff's suggestion, we had him re-enforce the floor boards and it turned out to be great advise. The floor upstairs now feels firm and squeaks a whole lot less. There was wiring that had to be done and I wanted the ceiling done to meet the existing ceiling in the living room. It looks fantastic! New walls, ceiling and trim were put on the TV room and even our painter commented more than once that Jeff had done a fantastic job on the seams since none of them showed when painted. He also finished our enclosed patio that another local contractor had done some work on and it looked terrible. Jeff corrected all the lousy work done previously and it now looks fantastic. Our house is almost 200 years old so anything we do is a challenge and Jeff & his crew encountered a few but made the finished rooms look great. |I would recommend VanHall Construction to anyone who needs this type of service. He always returned calls in a timely manner.

But, for now things are just wonderful. He is on the job when he says he will be and work gets done. Jeff is a good honest hard worker! j

+ -1 moreHe is marvelous and on time. He does his work. He never leaves a job before it is done. He works full days. He has done a number of jobs for us. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Price wise, he is extremely reasonable. He is very reliable. When he gives an estimate, he stays with it and if he cannot stay with it he will let you know ahead of time and he will do something else. He is very good and stays accessible. He is very very accurate.
Description of Work: My husband was coming home from surgery and Van Hall Construction did some handrails that we needed.

+ -1 moreCompleted work on time, cleaned up daily, notified me if unable to work on a given day. ( he had fit me in between jobs that needed to wait for good weather days to perform the work.). Jeff was personable, and always willing to answer question, offer suggestions.
Description of Work: Installed gutter heat tape system, repaired damaged drywall, sealed attic opening, installed new front and garage door.

+ -1 moreMr. Jeffrey Van Hall, owner, tried numerous times to switch quality materials and finishes, which we had picked out, to cheaper goods of poor quality. We had to constantly monitor him and his work. He is nothing but a con man who never completed the work on our house and who double and triple billed us. He also left a trail of sub-contractors that have not been paid in full. He has a history of the same business practices while working under five (5) different company names.
Description of Work: Van Hall Construction was the contractor responsible for building our new home.
