My wife and I own two small apartments in Manhattan that needed renovation. Many people would kill to have this problem but I, at least, did not know how to approach it. Some of the things we needed, such as a new bathtub, were obvious. Other things we needed, such as a re-organization of the kitchens, required knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and electricity that we did not have. We interviewed other construction companies but we were not comfortable with the details in their proposals. Tim Harris helped us resolve our differing opinions, made great suggestions and produced drawings showing how we could renovate the apartments economically and efficiently. He drew up contracts setting out exactly what he would do in each apartment. He was patient while we obtained financing from a bank and work authorizations from our cooperative. We were not in a particular hurry since we had two apartments and could stay in one apartment while work was being done in the other. That said, once the decisions were made and the first payment was made, Tim began work promptly and handled the process systematically. The materials were delivered on time and the work was done on the contracts' schedule. He remembered what we talked about, did what we wanted, and gave regular reports to us about progress in the renovations. When there were hiccups in the process, which is inevitable in an old building like ours, Tim worked well with our building superintendent and our cooperative's management. He was knowledgeable and inspired confidence in us and the people he worked with. Tim made a special effort to keep dust and debris inside the apartment. When Tim suggested something I was glad when I took his advice. It has been several months since the work was completed (I am a procrastinator). The apartments look very good. A few things needed to be corrected after the work was finished but Tim was responsive and prompt in resolving them. We are very happy with the results and would not hesitate to hire Tim again.
