The Original NY Maids, LLC

I was told the maid would show up between 8 and 9 am. She showed up 15 minutes late at 9:15. I let her in the apartment and then left for work. When I came back, I found that the floors had been mopped and that the inside of the stove and refrigerator had been cleaned. However, very little, if anything else was done. The stove top was still covered with grease, and the cabinet doors were also covered with grease. She clearly had not bothered to clean them. It did not appear that the baseboards were cleaned as they had promised. And a full, LEAKING garbage bag had been left in the apartment. I was able to clean up the grease left on the stove and cabinets without too much effort, which made me realize that hiring NY Maids was a complete waste of money.

First, I was surprised to find a male maid (Byron) appear on my doorstep. Honestly, it made me a little uncomfortable. I didn't specifically request a female maid, but depending on your preference you may want to make that request. Byron did a sufficient job, but I won't be calling him again. My apartment is kept neat, so I don't require any straightening or organizing. I do require thorough cleaning, for example, picking up a picture frame and not only dusting underneath but both front and back of the frame. Some people understand this basic level of clean, and some people don't. Byron, unfortunately, does not. He also did not move any light pieces of furniture to vacuum underneath, like a laundry bin or the coffee table, for example.

Performance was adequate, but not good. Things were generally clean but there was no attention to detail at all. Some surfaces (e.g. windowsills) were never cleaned, even after we asked. They will buy supplies for your apartment if you leave money, but one time the money was taken and no supplies were purchased. It has been a bit of a hassle to get straightened out.

Cleaners didn't show up for first visit. When I called, was told (1) they were on their way, (2) not on their way as credit card not good, (3) credit card not in system, (4) they left multiple messages on answering machine & recording had my name on it. I found out (1) credit card fine (number written incorrectly), (2) zip code wrong (wrote 10436), (3) wrong street address (522, not 525), (4) they lied to me as I called wrong # and found out that no one by my first name lived there & no messages left. When they showed up (1) command of English poor (vs. what stated on website), (2) they used my supplies, (3) broke my lampshade, (4) didn't clean major surfaces (e.g., table tops, corners of floors) but did well on some surfaces (tub). Supposedly, person who took my order was terminated. I received $50 discount for no show. I would be more upset, had I paid full price of $305. NY Maids has reimbursed me for the broken lamp by purchasing replacement lamps.
