It went fine until the super called me and complained that they broke the light fixture in the elevator when they moved my couch in the elevator. The super showed me the light fixture - it was damaged - he insisted on my paying him $50 for the cost of replacement or else he'd report me to the building management. The movers insisted that they did not break the light fixture, only the light bulb - so someone was lying. Also the lift on their truck malfunctioned. Other than that, it went okay. However, about 3 weeks after the move, I began to get bitten by some strange insect, only to find out that I now have bed bugs. I can't prove that I got the bed bugs from the movers - but I know that they wrapped my furniture and bed in used moving blankets and they had just moved another person earlier in the day. I have never had bed bugs in my life and the new building hasn't had them - so I can only conclude that it came from the moving van.
Description of Work: Wrapped up furniture in moving blankets and moved contents of my apartment in boxes into truck and transported to my new apartment.

I paid $99 per hour for 3 workers. I had to pay an hour for travel time and a minimum of two hours -- which I understood. It was a small job, though, and the actual time it took them to move the items was less than one hour. The first two movers were about 15 minutes late; the third guy showed up so late that he only did about 10 minutes of work, and yet they insisted that I pay for his time as well. The most disturbing thing, however, is that despite the fact that they were using the elevator to move my belongings, happened to take the stairs once and found one of my boxes, which was clearly marked as coming from a well-known leather-goods store, sitting in the stairwell. I called to complain and left a message for Kevin, the scheduling manager, and the call was never returned. I would not use their services again.
Description of Work: Unloading boxes and furniture from a moving van into an apartment.
