He first asked me several questions about the job, the wallpaper, the building, the wall, etc. to make sure he was prepared for the job. He showed up on time, did everything we asked for and did a great job putting up the wallpaper. He also completed the job exactly when he said he would. Best of all, Romanelli Wallcovering also had some of the most competitive pricing.

+ 1 moreSteve is very precise and methodical and took considerable care to do a great job. He is an expert at his craft and sets his standards very high. I thought his price was on the low side considering all that he did. Steve even painted areas where replaced light fixtures left large circles on the ceiling-- and that was not specified as a part of the original job. When hiring Steve, don't expect a quick job but expect an excellent one. Be sure to budget enough time for him to give you his exemplary work product.
Description of Work: Painted walls in kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. Put up vintage wallpaper in kitchen and dining area.

The paper we used was custom-ordered and expensive and the walls in our building are old and uneven, so we worried it'd be hard to get right. We could not have been in better hands. Steve is incredibly detail-oriented, conscientious and transparent about his fees, methods, and every aspect of the work. We couldn't be happier with the meticulous end result.

+ -1 moreWe get so many compliments on our wallpaper. The other day, my husband and a guest were walking around the dining room for a couple minutes trying to find the seams. They eventually noticed a couple and then marveled at how perfectly connected the pattern was. Steve also did such a good job on the chair rail that it looks as though it's always been there. Steve is a perfectionist and was at our house more days than he'd expected to be because he wanted the job to look great despite the peculiarities of the walls and windows. (Our house was built in 1925.) If your priority is that someone will finish the job quickly, he might not be the wallpaper hanger for you, but if you want a job that will look perfect for years, it would be hard to find someone better.
Description of Work: Chair rail added and wallpaper in a complex and delicate pattern hung above the chair rail.

+ 0 moreMy main compliance is professionalism...(I cannot comment on other aspect as we did even met each other). If you think my job is disorganized, and you can't understand it, why not take more time communicate with your customer and try to understand the nature of the job? Also, How can you say the job is disorganized when we haven't even met? We don't plan to start the job until Oct (we plan to give a month time to have everything ready before the job starts...) . Granted there maybe moving pieces as we go along the process, but it is shocking to me that Steve can easily turn down a customer and I need to start search for another company to fit my renovation schedule. It is understandable if you don't want to come out Saturday on Labor Day Weekends, maybe make the decision a little earlier than 10pm the night before?
Description of Work: This is paint +wall paper job for a 2 bedroom apartment. Initially we contact steve for wall paper the entire apartment, which he seems very interested in helping us. But we contacted him too far in advance so we postpone the conversation, no prices quote was given at that point. One month later, we decided to change the scope of project to majority painting and wall papering 2 walls, then, we set up appointment with Steve for 9/3 (today) for a on-site consultation. On Sep 2, Steve requested additional information via email. I provided majority of information. (Steve had repeatedly asked for wall paper pattern, we did provided it initially via angieslist). Around 10pm 9/2, I received an email from Steve saying " Your job is too disorganized. It is not clear what you want. I will not be helping you." I completely understand that you may lost your interest in the job as a paint job maybe much less profitable than wall papering job. But cancelling the appointment at the last minute is not appreciated.

Description of Work: We were in touch by e-mail. I needed a hallway painted and a bathroom with wallpaper to be taken down and new paper installed. Steve saw paper (I texted him book and page) He said it would be easy to install. After almost 3 weeks of trying to have him come up to give me an estimate, he came up early on Saturday (which was great) He spent 10 minutes looking at my foyer - not much to look at - just white walls. (I told him pictures and desk will be out of room) He took a piece of wallpaper off to see how difficult it would be. He said it would run way over $1200 and he will send me estimate in e-mail/text. $1200 to paint? I don't think so. $1200 to paint and paper? I found a profesional paper hanger who will paint and paper for me for $600. Half of what Steve quoted. Steve never got back to me, very unprofessional. If he didn't want to do the job, he should have just stated so. PS: I asked him if he was allergic to cats - he said no. I do have 2 cats, but when a stranger is in the house, it's like not having any. They hide. Sorry Steve.

He was able to provide an estimate through email which was incredibly convininent, and was able to come that same week to complete the job. Steve did an excellent job with the wall paper mural and took additional time to explain the process of removal without damaging my wall for when I decide to remove it. I was completely satisfied with his work and I will most definitely keep his number for future projects. I already shared his information with a friend! Thanks Steve.

+ -1 moreThe wall paper job that Steve did for us is absolutely perfect. The wall paper I chose is textured, with a busy pattern, and my ceilings are high. So although the conditions were somewhat difficult, Steve did an amazing job, and finished in one (long) day of about 9 a.m. to 6:30 pm. Its not even possible to see a seam where the different pieces of paper meet. I would absolutely recommend Steve.

+ 0 moreSteve replied to our message within hours and offered to set up an appointment the next day, Sunday. He made sure to clarify details at every interaction. He gave us a written (PDF) quote up front detailing price, tools used, and services rendered. He brought his own drop cloths and work table. He set our expectations clearly, due to the slightly uneven nature of the wall and offered as many options as he could to make sure it came out looking good. In the end, we were impressed with the quality of the work and very happy with our new mural. He left the work space clean and clear. If we decide to wallpaper anything else we will definitely call Steve.
Description of Work: Applied a pre-pasted 9x12 mural to a wall, cutting into corners and around picture rail and electrical outlet.

+ 0 moreThe job was done to perfection. From the moment I hired Steven, he began researching the company I purchased the wall paper from, and finding out what the job required. He came with everything he needed, and took special care to cover any furniture in the vicinity of his work. He proceeded to paint my wall a dark brown so it would match the paper. I had no idea this was needed, but he clearly knew what he was doing. By the time the job was done, I was ecstatic. It looked so beautiful and flawless. Steven had been worried that I hadn't ordered enough paper, but he managed to make it stretch. It was magical. You would be foolish to hire anyone else. He cares deeply about his work, and will not be happy unless it's done right. This is the only man I would use for wallpapering in the future.

+ -1 moreI emailed him the photos of my space and link to wallpaper I had in mind, with which he provided me a quote. He offered to come over to view my space as he was in area following week. The interaction was a little scattered and he kept complaining about another job which did not go well. He told me how much wall paper I needed for my space. I thought he was eccentric but manageable. Next day he sent me a new quote for double the price. I called him at 10am to query his reasons and he was not coherent. He refused to explain why the price doubled and why I would need liner paper when others have stated I would not. I have a clean new flat finished wall space. His behavior was very erratic and bizzare. I would suggest that people vet him in person before accepting a large job.
Description of Work: Doubled the quote and refused to explain. He also could not explain why liner paper was needed on my new construction flat clean walls. One of the most bizarre experiences with a contractor I have ever had. I was unable to hold a coherent conversation with him.

The wallpaper looks great on the walls and it all matches up. I got a beautiful receipt that I printed out for future use.
