It started in August 2009 and was supposed to be completed in December of 2009. It is now February of 2011 and is still not completed and he has been paid. He is dishonest. Has no integrity. The quality of his work is a disaster. This apartment was designed by a well known architect, David Hu. I was not living here during the time of the construction and moved back into the apartment in January 2010 and was here on a weekly basis. But you can't evaluate the worth of a contractor til the last 10%. When they are doing demolition and dry wall work, you can't evaluate it. When they were doing the floors, I couldn't see the finished product. When I moved in, I was horrified. My kitchen cabinets have gone out 4 times, but he finally came and took care of it. There are gashes in the walls. I have three different colors of paints on the ceilings. The floor he put down now has a space in between the plank that is almost a quarter of an inch, that can't be repaired. The grouting in my bathroom, where I have $8,000 worth of marble, is a disaster because the tiles were installed improperly. I paid him to do all the elctrical work, but he never even did it. He did not install the cabinet doors that I had finished because he said he wasn't paid. The balance that I owe him is $8,000 which is due upon completion of a punch list. He said he will not complete work until he gets all of his money. I have a written contract. I'm sitting here with a kitchen door that's never been completed. The problem was he took on a job that he was not qualified to do. I have curved walls that now have to be totally re plastered and repainted,. I have to rip up a whole floor because of what happened due to him. I can't afford at this point to rip up my whole bathroom. Every time we turn around, we find something else. He had the nerve to say that I haven't paid him since last December. Why would I pay him when the contract clearly states that he doesn't get all the money until the completion of the apartment. The guys that he finally found to finish the cabinets for me wonder how he sleeps at night.
