We cannot express how amazing this company and its staff are! Professional, polite, responsive, and easy to communicate with. The entire process was simple, quick, and straightforward. We also cannot say enough about our service rep Jessica, who explained everything to us down to the smallest of details and was able to answer all of our questions.

NYSS was really great, across the entire process.. Our program manager, Dajane, gave us the introduction to the program, was extremely informative, professional & friendly, and had us convinced! We asked a million questions about making sure it was free, asking about the inspection process, the time frame, etc. Dajane couldn't have been more patient or helpful - she showed us the comparison graphs as far as what we'd be saving, explained the tax rebate program and was amazing. Little did we know we were her first clients!! She was so nice about the process, that she actually came by to check on how stuff was going (in the rain) while the panels were being installed. Dajane even brought US a little gift for my wife & kids, because we were her first clients. Couldn't have been happier with the sign up, or Dajane's service. NYSS was in the area , a neighbor was pleased with the product and service and directed us to Joseph. From our 1st phone call Joseph, who is the liaison for NYSS has been honest, experienced, incredibly available and swift to respond to any and all questions.Joseph was never pushy always informative.. As you would expect there are many questions to ask, there are many details to familiarize yourself with, Joseph and his team made it seamless.Each phase of the installation, was professional and swift. No delays throughout the process. The system is working as advertised, the surveillance system is very accurate almost to the second. All of the rebates were obtained as were calculated and expected. Hi Jim, I am writing this email to say how great Steve Pantelis is. My family is about to have our solar panels installed by your company. Steve came to my house and immediately I could see he has a great personality. He is friendly and not pushy at all. He was equipped with all the information on the product and on your company. He let your product and your company's greatness do the selling. Steve is always in contact with me and checking that everything is going ok. Steve makes everything so easy. I was in sales for over 20 years, helped others run their business, and even had a couple businesses on my own. I can tell when a person has skill sets and talents that are above what most people have. I call it the secret sauce -- a mixer of talents and skill sets you cannot describe in words. You can sense it in a person's conversation and mannerisms. Steve has this secret sauce. I see from reviews and your website you have an excellent company and Steve just reinforces all your company has to offer. My wife and I are very happy with Steve, and we have not even received the solar panels yet. We will definitely recommend your company to others. My wife and I began talking to New York State Solar in Jan 2020. During our preliminary talks with our salesperson, Jack Aranya, we told them we would be dormering and adding a second floor to our home within the next few years. We asked what the costs involved would be if we had the solar panels installed pre-dormer and then needed them removed and replaced for our dormer. We were told it would simply be the cost of labor, and a figure of around $5,000 was quoted. Upon our install in Feb 2020, we repeated the same question to the foreman at our install. Again, my wife and I were told around $5,000. In July 2022 we started to move forward with the dormer and we began calling to get a quote and to speak to a manager, supervisor or my salesperson. I have called no less than 10 times between then and the present asking to speak with a manager, supervisor or my salesperson. Each time someone took down my information or left a note and told me someone would call me back. I still have not received a call back to this day from one. In September 2022, I received a call from another solar contractor, Marcor, that NYSS passed my inquiry and quote request over to, without telling me. So a different company I’ve never had any contact with has called me back before NYSS has. Marcor came back with a quote for $17,000. More than triple what NYSS had quoted me or what I reasonably expected. Something seemed incredibly wrong, so I reached back out to NYSS. I called NYSS to get a quote and try to understand why the number I received was so wildly different from what I was told. I called asking for someone who could assist me, but no one was ever available and ended up leaving messages with the reception and asking for a call back from a manager, supervisor or my salesperson. Only after tweeting at New York State Solar on Twitter and emailing my salesperson did I finally have some interaction. Unbelievably, the Twitter account told me “it's unusual that a message wasn't passed along, so we'll look into what happened” and to call, which has previously gotten us nowhere. My salesperson got back to us via email, completely unaware of any of my issues so I guess communication isn’t the strong suit over there. I explained the entire situation in my email to him. He told me he would look into it. 3 days later I still hadn’t heard anything, so I emailed my salesperson back for an update, he responded that the Operations Manager, Lauren Mohan, said it’s $14,000 which is triple the cost of what they told me and 60% of the original solar purchase and install. He also didn’t even acknowledge the hard time I’ve been having getting in touch with them or that they misled me on the costs. I replied, reiterating how unacceptable that cost is and asking them to do the right thing and honor the price they misled me with or at least meet me somewhere in the middle. I receive a call from my salesperson telling me they will not budge on the price. They put him in the middle to do the dirty work and don’t even have the decency to contact me directly. He threw the whole company under the bus, basically said they are ripping me off and it should be closer to $9,000. This is legitimately the worst company I have ever worked with. This is horrendous customer service and makes me feel as if your company made the sale and now doesn't care. It doesn't seem like you guys are holding up your end of the contract. I would have held off until after I renovated my home for these solar panels had I known it was essentially going to cost 60% of the initial installation. You guys put me in a situation where you benefitted by me having to pay for an entire additional project with you so you can make money off of me twice. You’re going around door-to-door pushing new homeowners and young couples into buying Solar from you with the NYS tax incentive and misleading them about future costs involved. I have since called again and left a message with a Brian and a Jennifer and still have not received a call from a manager or supervisor.

Such a regretful project. I wish I couldn’t do it for so many reasons. I wanted to love Solar but it was ruined for me by this company. I was blindsided by a large expense that I specifically had asked about and was given incorrect information. I do believe it was an accident but it still was incorrect information that cost me and would’ve prevented me from moving forward with the project had it been known. The sales person seemed genuinely remorseful but those in charge were insincere and manipulative. Little was done by them to rectify the matter and there were several things afterwards that were dishonest. As one example, they supposedly upgraded my panels to better quality panels at no cost for my inconvenience. They knew the extra money was my issue so if you were truly upgrading me why not give me the difference in cost. It was obvious that the only reason they switched panels was a supply chain issue and those were the panels being installed regardless. Trying to spin as if they were doing me a favor just to keep me quiet and happy to make up for their larger mistake. I wouldn’t be surprised if they paid less for these panels too and helped their own bottom line only. The installation was far from smooth as well. A boom lift broke down and was left in my driveway for over a week and the panels don’t come even close to producing what I was told. It’s a 6KW system that maxes out at 4.4KW and no one can explain why. Just more nonsense excuses. I truly regret opening my door and letting them in. Now I’m reminded every time I look up how bad a decision it was to use this company.

We are very happy with our solar energy system and highly recommend NY State Solar, especially our project manager Milan Milosevic. At the time of this writing, our electric bill for September 2019 (our first full month) was the connection charge of $13.83 which was $367 in 2018. We didn’t expect this all the time, but it was a great start. For the period from 9/1/2019 to 1/31/2020, there was a 77% decrease in usage and 69% savings in cost. This yielded of decrease of approximately $1,118 for this 5-month period over the same period 12 months ago ($1,663 to $544). It was proposed to us that the system would produce 52% of our total usage minimum over 12 months. We are at 77% of total usage for the past five months and we are heading towards the higher production days of spring and summer. Milan walk us through the entire process, explain all the details, and was always available for questions. We were told ahead of time what to expect and was never caught off guard. We were presented with all costs including the tax credits (both Federal and NY State) we would receive, what options we had, and the costs of those options. Milan made visits to our home when Hytech Solar (the installation contractor) replaced the roof and install all the equipment. He still checks on us regularly to this day and makes sure we are satisfied and on track with the tax credits and provided the required forms necessary. As a retired licensed professional engineer and construction project manager for 34 years, I think in my professional opinion that Hytech Solar performed top quality work. Not only was the work high quality, but all involved took my suggestions in the design so that the aesthetics of the house was not compromised. The contractor also efficiently cleaned-up and protected the site from damage. This also shows that NY State Solar expects high quality work from their contractors. The only downside is that all costs are paid up front and had to put our trust in NY State Solar that the right job would be done. However, it paid off. The right job was engineered and installed to get the most from the sunlight available. If your interested in solar energy, I highly recommend NY State Solar and ask for Milan Milosevic. You should also do it now as the tax credits have gone down in 2020.

Jason Hawes of NY State Solar was, and is, most helpful in explaining the system and financial options. Saw the project through from beginning to end. As I come up with questions, he continues to answer promptly and be of great help..,

Matt McAuliffe is a real professional who knows his business; and his honesty and passion for renewable energy expansion was key in my confidence in making the decision to install our solar system.

We now have solar. We now understand how the whole process works. Franklin has been a pleasure to work with. And as I told Franklin I don’t like salesmen. I also told him I was going to give him a hard time. It took it all gracefully. I would not want Franklin to write a review on me but I would recommend him a hundred times over.

The company was great but Franklin Cusma our sales rep to this day is still one of the nicest people I’ve ever met He was so good actually that we’ve developed a friendship and he always returns messages immediately when we have questions.
