LOVED NYKB. My kitchen was completely transformed. I know that considering a renovation is a huge decision both energetically and financially. Believe me it is worth it. My life is so much easier now. I love my pull out garbage and recycling bins. In the smallness of NYC spaces this is a space saver. I have an open concept kitchen and we tore down a partial wall. It’s like I have a larger apartment now. I can’t say enough about how they know their stuff. You will be in great hands with NYKB.
Description of Work: I had issues because I needed to fix an electric and plumbing problem. My apartment is better for it.

NYKB did a beautiful job on a complete kitchen and bath remodel on our condo in the West Village. Everything came out beautifully. Even when some unexpected plumbing issues came up behind the walls, Perry was able to work out a very fair price for me. Michael, who was in charge of completing our project, was diligent, always available and showed impressive attention to detail.

Relationship: Client Project Date: August 2021 NYKB renovated three of our bathrooms that were damaged by water leaks. It was an extensive, expensive and lengthy project. I would add stressful. NYKB honored their guarantees. Michael Avidor, Noy Portal and their team quickly responded to inevitable minor issues well after the job was completed. Everything was resolved quickly and without any further costs. There's something good to be said about a company that remains available years after the work is paid and finished! Nice job.

NYKB is a high end renovation company that I chose for a kitchen and bath project on my apartment. I bought my apartment 40 years ago and it needed a major renovation. I did a fair amount of due diligence before selecting them for my project. They were by far the most responsive of the firms that I met with. They were willing to meet in my apartment within a few days. We met in my apartment; discussed the project and then met in their offices a few days later to view computer generated ideas of what the finished project would look like. Selecting them for the renovation was a great decision. They have a fantastic staff that helped transform an aging apartment into a beautiful modern apartment. They handled the approval process with my building’s board, assigned a designer and project manager to work with me throughout the project and made useful suggestions throughout the project with ideas that improved the project. These ideas included new floors, new heating system and major electrical/lighting upgrades. By the end of the project, they had transformed an old apartment into a beautiful modern apartment. Buying the apartment 40 years ago was a wonderful decision and upgrading the apartment with NYKB was a similar experience/decision. Special thanks to Sarah (designer), Michael (project manager), Victor (handled a lot of the construction), and Perry (head of the firm). I appreciate your efforts and I am grateful for your help designing and transforming my apartment into a beautiful modern apartment. Michael R

NYKB is really the best! I have known them now for about 4 years, and the first time I worked with them was on renovation of my kitchen. That job was amazing from start to finish. They helped me design a kitchen that was more functional than what I had before, the materials were very high quality and the job was done on time with minimal disruption to my daily routine. And my new kitchen is gorgeous - easily the best thing I did that year. This year I used NYKB to replace my HVAC units and once again, Perry and team came through in a pinch. They were able to complete the job from start to finish in about a week, and the technician Alan was very thorough and meticulous, and of course professional. The team stands behind their work and will make any fixes that may arise even after installation. You can depend on NYKB as Perry and team are the ultimate professionals and will not let you down. I recommended them very highly and will continue to work with them on any other home projects I have going forward.

Since it's been a while that I have lived in my apartment, my kitchen cabinets had paint and wood peeling off and my kitchen was looking a bit outdated so I began thinking about renovating the entire kitchen instead of just replacing the cabinets. After searching on google for the best kitchen renovation company in NYC, I found NYKB which was the company with the most years of experience in the industry. I decided to give them a call and they invited me to come to visit their beautiful showroom downtown to discuss the expenses and the materials of the project, as well as what the process would entail. I knew exactly what I wanted my new kitchen to look like so I showed some pictures from a kitchen I saw on Instagram to their designer, Ana, and she helped me pick out the right tiles, cabinets, and materials that would be suitable for the kitchen. After our meeting, Ana created a 3D drawing based on our discussion and the items we picked and walked me through how the project is going to be managed. Once the project started, Giovanny, the project manager was always at the scene, making sure everything was going as planned. Every time I had any concerns, I texted Giovanny and he responded right away with the professionalism and made sure the problem was fixed! Although we had some bumps along the way with the whole process (that's how any construction is), I truly recommend NYKB! I have received endless compliments from all my guests - My dream kitchen is perfect!!!

BEWARE. SCAM ARTISTS. Things started off great. They were super responsive and on top of everything. It all ended soon thereafter. These people are deceptive and are only looking to take advantage of you. We had an absolutely terrible experience with them, where they tried to rip us off at every turn. They do not pass on their trade discounts, and instead upcharge you 30% on items you order from them. They WILL send you plumbing bills for work you don't need and blame your building/the City for the work. They will over-order everything since they make a commission on it. They are disorganized and never follow through on what you tell them -- that is, when they even come to perform work/return your emails or calls. They do not file proper paperwork with the city. They execute work prior to your approval and then bill you for it. The quality of work was not great and much of it had to be re-executed. Do not believe the fake reviews on other websites. Don't pay for Peter Luger's if all you're going to get is week-old leftovers from McDonald's

My wife and I are very pleased with our NYKB bathroom. We went through two contractors who were unable or unwilling to get their plan approved by our difficult coop board. NYKB has professional facilitators on staff so they breezed through approvals. The project was renovating a second bathroom in a 1920’s era building that had originally been a coat closet so although it was a small space the project was complex. Mikey the project manager was knowledgeable and experienced. He gave us valuable advice on the best way to deal with concrete walls and the other joys of 1920’s construction. Unlike horror stories I’ve heard about other contractors who don’t show up and finish way behind schedule, the workers came when Mikey said they would and the job was finished essentially on time. This is all great but what really impressed me was how they handled a small leak around the shower doorI emailed Perry (the owner of NYKB) he came by my apartment literally the next morning. He apologized and immediately fixed the problem. I think you can learn a lot about a business by how they treat you after they have your money. NYKB was exceptionally responsive and helpful. They aren’t the cheapest way to redo a bathroom but the quality of their work is outstanding.

BAIT AND SWITCH DECEPTIVE CONTRACTS We had a horrible experience with NYKB who, based on our interactions, takes full advantage of their clients. After reviewing our proposed bathroom renovation project, the decorators sent us a contract and we paid our deposit. We were told that the contract would cover our renovation project and that we would get “preferred pricing” with their vendors. Much to our surprise, several weeks later, they sent an invoice titled “Additional Building Requirements” for $75,000 for “waterproofing” and “redoing the branch pluming”. Really? After questioning this invoice, we were told that most high-end buildings in Manhattan require these additional items. Since they only do kitchens and bathrooms, they are clearly aware of this, and deceptively omit this from any conversations and the initial contract. This is a total bait and switch deceptive technique to lure potential clients into working with them at what they disguise as a much-reduced cost. Since you have already signed the initial contract and they have your deposit, they now overcharge you for these additional items. Shameful. In addition, we were told by the decorators that NYKB has “preferred vendors” and that NYKB will pass along their discounts, but this is also very misleading. They upcharge you for everything from glass shower doors, cabinetry, stone tops, tile, and plumbing fixtures. All of these invoices come on an NYKB letterhead, and they refuse to show you their actual costs. To do a comparison, we sent out quotes for all these other items and they were 40% to 50% less from other venders, but NYKB won’t let you use other vendors, so you are stuck in their web of deceit which is clearly another bait and switch. In reading other honest reviews of NYKB (not the ones that appear to be posted by the owner’s friends and relatives), they have taken advantage of many other New Yorkers. Run, don’t walk, away from this company. If you are so inclined to hire them, stop by your local bank and take out a second mortgage as you will undoubtedly need it!!!!

I had to do a gut renovation of my kitchen and two bathrooms. NYKB responded quickly, helped me design the project and completed the installation in two months. In the six years that I owned my apartment I never had any issues stemming from the renovation. It was a job well done.

EXCELLENT I don’t usually take the time to write reviews, but I feel NYKB earned this. For a great company that puts customers first, a sprawling showroom and large selection of beautiful products. NYKB is the best with the thing that is the most important to me: customer service. This was my second time working with the great people at NYKB. The designer Mairav was helpful the first time around with NYKB. I was renovating my two bedroom apartment on the upper east side in 2010. I redid my kitchen and two bathrooms along with replacing my wood floors. This required breaking down a wall to create the open space feel I was looking to achieve with this new design. Back to the designer, Mairav was very creative and had great design ideas that I loved. I really liked the fact that she presented me with a few design choices. Pablo, the Field Manager was very professional and he was very responsive . He was responsible and available to handle any concern that came up. They completed the work in the time they promised with a few bumps in the road but they made it work. My apartment looks outstanding, the attention to detail was exactly as i expectd. My friends even asked me for their phone number bnecause they were looking to redo their Kitchen. The team that NYKB assigned to my home renovation was professional, courteous and available at any time that I reached out. This is one of the reasons I knew I would work with NYKB in the future. Which leads me to: My second experience with NYKB was about a year ago. I moved to New Jersey and purchased a house. Only it wasn’t a home yet. I knew that I would need to renovate whatever property I purchase. I knew I wanted NYKB to do my home renovation and I couldn’t wait to see the final outcome. Since Mairav my favorite designer was no longer with the company I worked Nick my new favorite. I was happy to know that Pablo would be my project manager again. Nick's design ideas and suggestions were outstanding. He made my vision into a reality. I presented him with many magazine clippings and picture I had collected and he was able to make it come alive. This was a big renovation and it started with breaking some walls on my first floor including a very large kitchen, 1 1/2 Bathrooms, 4 closets, a mud room, refinishing the wood floors and painting. There was one issue that I will mention, it was right after they first day of breaking walls (demolition). I discovered a thick layer of dust throughout my house. Oddly enough, where no work was done. I immediately called Nick my designer and he assured me that Pablo will handle this, Pablo called me right away and told me that a cleaning crew will be there soon (remember I live in NJ) I was shocked that the cleaning crew showed up as promised and got it all cleaned up. I had a housewarming party not long after the completion of my renovation and my friends and family absolutely loved everything. Thank you NYKB for making my house a magnificent HOME!!

Excellent workmanship, good supervision, good crew but pricing exorbitant and follow up lacking. We did complete renovation of master bath, including replacement of jacuzzi tub, custom vanities & extensive tile work, painting of ceiling and floors. installation of radiant floor. Custom cabinetry pricing was very high, shower door and enclosure was done by ABC Shower in Brooklyn at a $10,000 savings to NYKB pricing.

My husband and I own two conjoined Co-op apartments in a high-rise apartment building of approximately 400 units, in Greenwich Village, in New York City. We recently decided to renovate a bathroom, in one of the apartments and hired NYKB (New York Kitchen & Bathroom Corp, 8 West 25th Street, New York, NY 10010), for the project. The bathroom, although small, posed many challenges regarding the plumbing and electrical work due to its location, very near the front door of the second apartment space, as well as its odd, asymmetrical, antiquated walls and problematic plumbing and electrical connections. We had put off the renovation for years, but, at last, decided to go ahead in early December 2013. The project took approximately 22 work days, not counting weekends or Christmas Week (Christmas Day to New Year's Day), to complete, and we are absolutely thrilled with the aesthetically beautiful result which far exceeded our expectations. Once the contracts were signed, permissions and licenses were obtained, and all materials were chosen, ordered and delivered (with a walkthrough and checking of all materials received), and all renderings and elevations completed, we were able to go forward with demolition after all adjoining rooms and spaces were carefully cleared, and protected, as well as the building's outside corridors and public areas, so that our own personal property (as well as the building's), was never at risk. At this first stage of the project, we discovered, right away, that the walls and the flooring contained significant, additional, occult deterioration, and much more than we had formerly thought, which would require more preparation before going forward with the new design plan. We were determined to go ahead, anyway, deeming these additional costs reasonable and acceptable considering the amount of repair to the walls and the old floor that obviously needed to be done in order that all of the new materials could be applied successfully. After the demolition phase, and the preparation of the walls and floor were completed, the tiling of the walls and floor could begin in earnest. Under daily watch by the lead contractor and/or the designer, the tiles were expertly cut and installed after which the old bathtub was restored, by glazing, to a perfect "like new" patina. After allowing for the one day drying period so that the tub surface could set, the untiled areas of the walls were painted, and the new toilet, sink/vanity, medicine cabinet, with additional accessories. i.e. the towel rack, toilet paper holder, etc. were all put in place. The renovation site was then cleaned completely as well as were all of the adjoining areas. Apart from the gorgeous result that we now have, where once an eyesore existed, there were two things that readily impressed us about this company: First, they were conscientious and considerate from the first day of demolition, and not only with regard to the project site and us, but with regard, also, to the building management's requirements, that of the staff, and our fellow tenants. (Positive feedback, on our floor, from fellow tenant shareholders made its way back to us, throughout the entire work period, and particularly around Christmas when many people were at home, in advance of Christmas week, with their families). As anyone living in a co-op or condo in New York City knows, full well, working in sync with the building management's requirements can be critical to the successful completion of an apartment renovation, so we were relieved of any worries or added stress in that department. Second, NYKB treated this small bathroom project with the care and attention to detail that we would expect might be accorded to a major home renovation. Every work day, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the lead contractor and/or the project designer (in addition to the workmen and sub-contractors) were on the scene to supervise work and check the progress of the project, after which we would receive a daily in person or e-mail report from the project designer on how much progress was made and on what remained. We wholeheartedly express our thanks to NYKB for this truly beautiful result--for our designer Roberta's impeccable taste, expertise and meticulous attention to every detail; our lead contractor Ilan's counsel, advice, and exacting professionalism in overseeing all phases, perfectly, to completion (while overseeing his electrical and plumbing contractors); to Perry for his knowledge, guidance and foresight in planning the project, at large (along with his vigilant team: Mia, Flora, Moshe, Gabby, et al.), and to the artisan, Luis, who astonished us with his talent and craft in precision-cutting tiny mosaic tiles, and installing their intricate patterns to reflect the theme of an existing painted door mural. To all at NYKB.... Bravo!! MTI and DAI, Greenwich Village, NYC

The design, planning and implementation phases all went well and on schedule. The lead Cabinet Installer, Boaz, did all the installation and construction work. He and his assistant, Nigel, did a fantastic job. Boaz did some things we needed beyond the scope of the project. His work was highly skilled. He is a perfectionist and a pleasure to work with. A different team did the Template and installation of the Quartz countertops and backsplashes. They also did a wonderful job. We enjoyed working with Perry Hiiman. We did have one disagreement on the estimate for the Quartz. We settled it quickly in an equitable way. If you are organized and decisive, working with NYKB will be a good experience.

Our first meeting was very productive. They came to our apartment, listened to our ideas, saw our space, and later put together a lovely plan that took into account all of our requests and was priced in keeping with other estimates we received. The bid for the labor seemed detailed and complete. However, once we looked a bit deeper, we saw problems everywhere. First, their design included recessed lights, which we had not originally discussed. When we told them that we didn't want them and asked for an adjustment to the price of the labor, we were told that they hadn't been included in the estimate. Similarly, their designer went ahead and removed a wall that we later decided to keep. Again, when we asked how much money we would save by omitting this part of the job (that they had designed) they told us that it hadn't been factored into their price in the first place. I wonder what else they showed us in their design that they did not factor into their supposedly complete pricing for the labor and when we would have learned about those charges! Each time we were presented with an idea, it was done with great enthusiasm. If we suggested an alternative, they spun around in circles, "yessing" us and telling us how great it would be our way. While it's good to work with someone who respects your ideas, it's a different matter to work with someone who is so busy saying "yes" that he is clearly not even considering the merits of different ideas. Another red flag is that when we were shown materials, we were not told anything about the quality of the cabinets, how they were constructed or what features were available or included. All we were asked was what color we wanted. When we indicated that we wanted information about the cabinets, we were given confusing and contradictory statements about whether they were made of plywood or MDF, whether the faces were veneer or thermofoil, and how different choices would affect the price. In fact, we weren't even given prices, just price ranges. We were told that it would all be worked out AFTER we signed a contract. We were pressured to sign on the spot (for a discount, "special for you.") Several days after we met with them, we got a call telling us all the ways we could cut the price, all of which involved drastic cuts in quality (although it wasn't posed this way.) Perhaps we were pre-disposed to disliking NYKB because of the reviews on this site and their spotty record with the BBB but regardless of how our opinion came to be formed, we found them sleasy.

At no point did this job go smoothly. They were slow to begin, delaying deliver of paperwork. Their designer missed several appointments to come measure the room, then made several mistakes in the drawing, ordered about double the quantity of wall tile we needed, and then provided the incorrect drawing to the tile installer, resulting in an entire wall being tiled that was to have been painted - wasting additional time and tile when returning to the correct plan. They made no fixture recommendations. They showed up at the job site only sporadically and routinely ignored the building's rule against working after 5pm. All of the work done was shoddy and is already falling apart, and while the contract and building rules mandate only licensed plumbers and electricians doing those parts of work, I found that the people they had doing these jobs were not licensed, and in at least one case were discovered to have used illegal pipe. The job took months to complete, not weeks.
Description of Work: This was a complete bathroom remodel in an Upper West Side pre-war building. Work was to include demolition, removal and installation of all wall tile, wall and ceiling plaster, shower/bath plumbing, toilet, sink and floor tile. NYKB was to order the tile, and recommend options for fixtures that I would purchase directly. The job was quoted to take 2-3 weeks.

Designer didn't have a clue, meaning I had to call suppliers to confirm specs after a number of mistakes. This became an issue when I checked her math on the number of tiles she was ordering. She hadn't ordered enough & refused to change it. Too few came, leading us to have to waste time & money to order 2 more batches of tiles, hoping that they would match the ones that were there. Signed a $20k labor contract. They repeatedly find reasons for "amendments" that weren't in the contract. After a few weeks, they stopped coming more than an hour per week telling me that it "was almost done & they had bigger jobs to do". I was told that they didn t mark up materials. I called them out twice as the vendor actually sent me the invoice. When I showed them the $2K difference, they said policy was to net against the final pmt. They refuse to pay. When I alerted them of the last issue, the valve was leaking they refused to come.
Description of Work: We hired them to totally redo one of our bathroom which was a small bathroom with a shower stall. They did a horrible job and are crooks! Signed contract in July, with an estimated completion in Oct. Finally started Jan & my building super finished it in Jun.

Work was performed by poorly supervised, semi-skilled workers who had no respect for my home. Mistakes were made on an almost daily basis and were always picked up by me because we very rarely saw the "field manager" and only saw the "project manager" when a payment was due. They deliberately underestimated the cost of the project and were always looking for ways to pad the price. The one thing they do well is cash checks! The vanity was delivered six inches too long and had to be redone--along with plumbing and electrical corresponding to the two sinks. We are now in the process of hiring other contractors to fix the mistakes made by NYKB.
Description of Work: NYKB did a renovation of our bathroom including the removal of one wall, conversion of tub to walk in shower, tiling, installation of new vanity. From the design phase, through board approval, permitting and actual demolition and construction this project was a 14 month nightmare. Thankfully, the electrical and plumbing work was performed by outside companies as a requirement of our building. This was the only part of the project that went well.

Badly. No customer service. When we complained about poor quality or the length of time the project took, no one would get back to us--until they wanted more money. They didn't put our money in escrow or provide a bond--which is contrary to NY State law. Perry Hiiman is, as the other poster says, a crook. And an obnoxious one at that.
Description of Work: Renovation of bath. Disaster. Some fixtures wrong (designer mismeasured by inches), some missing (had to reorder because the ones I paid NYKB for were not in apt), terrible tile-laying--broken and chipped and even backwards (mill marks showing because the front is attached to wall!). Grout all over tiles. Awful. Really. Painting of Apt. Little (if any) surface prep. Even painted right over TAPE. Reno of kitchen. Demo done with no care. Flooring installed completely incorrectly--had to be ripped out and redone. Everything had to be redone. Unlicensed people did part of plumbing AND electrical work.

From the start, it was a nightmare. The ''design'' was mismeasured and the plans shown to me were the old layout. Most everything ordered was either of poor quality (closet door was so rough you could get a splinter touching it) or wrong (e. g., a faucet made for a one hole sink was ordered for a three hole sink). The final straw was the cabinets I ordered and paid for were switched for a lower quality brand (that was not in any of their marketing materials or showroom or ever mentioned). I ordered a high quality brand as displayed in their showroom. Mr. Hiiman showed up the day after demolition to ask for more money because he didn't ''understand'' the full nature of the job. He was the one who furnished the estimate! I had no choice but to pay since my house was in rubble. This pattern continued, with additional payments requested for work that was already paid for in the contract. When I wouldn't accept the inferior cabinets NYKB refused to finish the work and kept my money.
Description of Work: NYKB was supposed to re-configure the first floor from an office to living space, install a new bathroom, install new lighting and build a closet. In addition, on the second floor, a new kitchen and bathroom were to be installed as well as a new staircase installed from the first to second floor. The kitchen and upstairs bathroom was never installed and the staircase was not finished and left without a banister and the original steps (left wobbly) on the first and last steps. The plumbing (in the bathroom)and electrical work (installing new ceiling lights, rewiring) were not to code.

A 2500 sq. ft. condo in the West Village, the kitchen was very plain and not conducive to cooking. Coming from a design background, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted. . What impressed me most about NYKB was their knowledge and selection, as well as their portfolio of past works, I chose NYKB to do the work. Together we planned a kitchen that I could entertain in, cook in, be comfortable in and be able to admire for years to come. I wanted to make sure it was done right, as this was a significant investment of time and dollars. NYKB and their designer sat with me every step of the way. I am sort of a demanding client, but they were very patient with my quirks and me. My house warming was in January, and the comments that I received about my kitchen quite honestly made my head swell. I really liked the job that NYKB did for me so much,I am wondering if I can have another house warming party to show it off. We have already recommended Raviv at NYKB to a few friends.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen renovation.

This was a terrible experience. My husband and I do not recommend this company at all. The designer we were assigned was unprofessional showing up late to our first meeting and then expecting me to scan and email images of examples from magazines of what we were looking for in terms of the renovation. I found a tile that was not from their "prefered vendor" and that caused major trouble. See this is where they make alot of their money. The project took forever to start and I must have met three different field managers to look over our project. This is a big company with a lot of overhead. Our building is pre-war and we feel that the company took the opportunity to try to tack on an extra $13,000.00 of "new work" that actually according to the 2nd and 3rd opinions I recieved were part of the original contract. They wanted to replace all copper pipes which were perfectly fine and only 5 years old. It was pure extortion thinking they could render our bath unusable and then demand.
Description of Work: NYKB was contracted to desgin and renovate our bathroom. Little design work was done and demolition of our bathroom did occur removing wall tiles and floor rendering the bathroom unusable when they came back to us with "new proposed work" 13,000. We fired them. See next box.
