After an on-line inquiry, I chatted with a very helpful sales person, who then set up an appointment for one of their people to come out and have a look at our kitchen -- which was totally outdated (since the 1970's at least), with appliances on their last legs. For midtown Manhattan, we have a pretty large kitchen area, and the renovation had to be complete -- tearing out everything, putting an arched doorway on its entrance, replacing all counters, appliances, flooring and cupboards. Thank goodness Osh was given our assignment, and took charge of our project. Working with him was great! Amazingly, I still like him and have recommended him to friends! He took over every aspect, and absolutely stuck to the promised schedule and pricing limits. His workers were also efficient and helpful. The only thing with which I was slightly unhappy involved the height of granite on the window ledge -- something I never even mentioned to Osh and the workers -- a decision taken when I was out of town for a few days. I decided that what they did was fine, but It is best if one stays on top of all decisions like that -- and I had let the ball drop on that occasion. Apart from that, the 5-year warranty offered by MyHome -- even on the appliances -- was an appealing aspect! Mind you, Osh is out of the country right now, and I do need one part of the cupboards repaired. So, I'll let you know if there are any problems with their follow-up!
Description of Work: Our kitchen needed complete redesign, renovation and new appliances. The work was done during a 3-week period during August of 2009, finishing just before Labor Day.

I did not end up using their service.
Description of Work: I did not end up using MyHome for my project (install hardwood floors, closet doors and interior painting) due to their prices being quite hight compared to others. However they were very professional, timely in their estimates and seemed like they provide a good quality product.

I think we may have spent a little bit more than other places, but they did a very good job. They were always available to answer questions and did good work. Looking back I might chosen another company based on price. I have no regrets though, the bathroom is beautiful.

The head contractor was very responsive. The got the job done very quickly, as well. The floors look nice. There were a few things I wasn't happy with though: 1) they painted the baseboards as well as installed them but they did a little bit of a sloppy job. There is still paint dripped on the wood floors in some places that I can't get off. 2) The workmen were messy - I had to clean pee off my toilet seat! Ick. I was very annoyed about that.
Description of Work: They refinished our wood floors and replaced the base boards around the apartment.

They came when they said. They stayed within budget. They didn't leave me hanging. They finished on time. Their electrician was not licensed and it stopped working over time. They wanted to make sure I was happy.
Description of Work: They did some odd jobs around the home. They made and installed some shelves. They repaired a light. They installed a chandelier, a hammock, and some hooks in the walls. They sealed some stuff in the bathroom and did some caulking.

MyHome?s President Mayan Metzler took over management of our project after seven months of incompetence from MyHome's Westchester affiliate. Topping a long list of SNAFUs were MyHome Westchester's failure to add structural supports for the new addition and their leaving our house exposed to the elements through a wet summer, fall and winter. During our first "rescue" meetings at MyHome's New York City headquarters, Mayan gave many assurances that damages and code violations would be quickly fixed by competent professionals (see attached email). Doubts in Mayan, however, began to surface when he postponed telling us for 25 days that we were living in a home that had tested positive for hazardous molds on the new second floor. (MyHome declined to have the heavily-damaged first floor tested). 104 days later, after 27 documented requests, we still could not get MyHome back on the site or agree to sign off on a proposed scope of work. While Mayan was excellent at issuing general calls to action ("Please, let's move forward!"), his true expertise lay in preventing any concrete steps from taking place, especially when such steps carried a cost to his company. Fortunately, we kept meticulous records. When Mayan ran out of excuses he simply reversed himself: No, MyHome would not reimburse our hotel costs while they propped up our house. No, MyHome would not reimburse our out-of-pocket expenses for materials we purchased on their behalf. No, MyHome would not follow NYC Remediation Guidelines for the removal of hazardous mold. No, MyHome would not remove the new windows to install code-compliant sheathing. No, MyHome would not provide written specs for review by the Building Inspector or a Professional Engineer. No, MyHome would not replace their General Contractor with a competent one or the contractor of our choice. Despite all their polite rhetoric, MyHome simply wasn't willing to spend the substantial sums of money required to correct their errors. We were under the impression MyHome's commercial general liability insurance would cover such disasters. Apparently this is not the case. We have filed a legal action against them for breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation. Thanks to MyHome, our home is in ruins.
Description of Work: Renovate a 1-1/2 story home into a full two-story home. The work involved preserving an existing second floor bathroom, raising the four second story walls and adding a cathedral ceiling/roof. After prolonged rain damage to the first floor during construction, the scope of work expanded to include remediation of water and mold damage to the first floor living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and library/den.

We found MYHOME online and called to schedule an appointment. From the first call, we found the staff to be extremely professional and courteous. We were able to set up a meeting right away and had a designer come out to our place. The designer quickly came up with a design that fit our needs. We were worried about how long it would take to go through all of the paperwork necessary to get the plans approved by the coop board, but it was a breeze because MYHOME took care of everything. We never even had to so much as make a phone call to the board ourselves. Next thing we knew, work began. The workers were always on time and finished the project in the exact amount of time we were told it would take. The finished project was exactly what we wanted and we will be using my home again this year to remodel our bathroom.

This was a very smooth process. First, a representative of MyHome came to the project site. He listened to what I wanted. He took my budget into acct. He made suggestions and recommendations. I was then invited to the showroom on a subsequent day. The same individual walked me through choosing materials for the project based on my taste and based on cost. He was clear and patient and made excellent suggestions. Then I was assigned a project manager to coordinate the entire project start to finish. He was truly a gift! The work crews followed all rules of the coop regarding hours of work, clean up of public areas, etc. They were respectful and hard working. There were some glitches and oversights, to be expected, but my project manager was "on it" immediately, and errors were corrected, no questions/excuses, right away. I could call my project manager very easily, or email (direct to blackberry) and he was very responsive. The project was finished in roughly the time expected. the project manager was available even after the project was done, if I had a question or a small problem needed attention. MyHome has a cleaning crew come in at the end, and when one did not do an adequate job, the project manager had another come. MyHome runs an excellent business. They do NOT live up to all the bad stereotypes heard about contractors. They worked start to finish. They made sure all materials were available before they began, so there was no wait. I actually ENJOYED this experience.
Description of Work: Renovation/remodelling of coop. apt. Remodel kitchen and bathroom. Paint/plastering throughout. Refinish hardwood floors. Replace doors. Shelving in closets. Kitchen: gutted, new floor tiles, cabinets, appliances. Bathroom: new tub, floor tiles. Old sink, (toilet and wall tiles were OK., my choice to leave them.)

It was a disaster. 1. They lied about the size of the job: they said it would be a dust and it turned out to be whole bricks falling from 8 stories up onto my terrace. If someone was there they could have been killed. The falling bricks smashed into a metal intake housing on the terrace and they said they'd repair it...they never did and they don't return calls.
Description of Work: My Home contacted me to ask my permission to come and put protection on my terrace because they were doing work next door (smashing through a brick wall) and I let them come and protect my property.

We visited the showroom and were assigned a "clerk of the works." He is a very nice gentleman who visited within 2 weeks to make an estimate. I think that when he (or the company) saw that it was such a "small" job, we were relegated to 2nd class status. Every deadline after that was either miscommunicated or delayed. The sub-contractors were fuzzy about doing their work within a certain time period as well. The fabricator had to redo a section due to mis-measurement. We sold our old appliances and arranged to have them taken on the day that the new ones were due to be delivered. That delivery was delayed at the last minute, and to the credit of the clerk, he went out and bought with his own money a temporary small refrigerator. Sentences like, We'll be there by 10, or You'll get a call back on that tonight, etc. were seldom true, but of course there was always a heart wrenching excuse, including a death in the family and the birth of a baby. Eventually, we had the district manager intervene and he was very helpful. This small job was finally prioritized and finished.
Description of Work: We had our kitchen upgraded. This included all new appliances which My Home purchased for us, new countertops, new sink and faucet, and sealing/polishing the marble floor.

I am happy with the job. The workmanship is average. They promised us a certain week to start and they did not start until two weeks later. The design consultant gave us false promise. We had to stay at a hotel for an extended time because the work was not done. The project manager took over the job and was very professional to work with.

Very well. The only thing holding up the renovation was the building and the city, once we got all the approvals, the renovation took four months, which is exactly what MyHome estimated at the outset. In my experience that's very fast for a gut renovation of a good-sized apartment. Because the company does everything, planning, paperwork for approvals, and all of the construction, and because it uses mostly it's own work crews, it can coordinate each phase of the job efficiently. There was never a moment where there were no workers in the apartment. The person supervising the work kept in close contact with me, letting me know what was up, what was coming next, asking me questions, giving good advice.

It went great. Ben provided the best design ideas for my limited space, including tearing down a wall to create more space and adding more cabinets to give me more counter space and more storage. The job couldn't have gone more smoothly--I have heard and read horror stories of jobs taking months, they completed the entire project in 3 weeks. Yes, three weeks. The amount of work they completed each day was amazing and Ben and his crew delivered the project to me in less time than we anticipated and the amount of money spent was on par with what I expected to pay. They also couldn't have been more informative and more helpful with any and all questions I had-- even the silly one's like what do I do to clean the counter tops once they're installed. I've recommended them to several friends and actually will be hiring them again to do more work when needed.

MyHome did an excellent job. My husband and I chose them because of their process in helping us with the original design and assigning us a project manager that was solely dedicated to our apartment. We had an idea of what we wanted but the MyHome team helped us realize our dream. I couldn't have done it without the designer who spent a lot of time with me picking out all the details of our new kitchen, even the paint color! The work itself couldn't have gone more smoothly. The project manager kept me informed each and every day on where we were in the time-line of the project. The workers kept everything clean and were incredibly professional. MyHome was right on target with the time-line of the project. When we decided to renovate our bathrooms we will certainly use MyHome.
Description of Work: MyHome renovated our entire apartment. A major portion of the project was the gutting of the existing kitchen. A wall was torn down to create an island, new appliances were installed, new counter top, new cabinetry, etc. All of the floors in the apartment were refinished. All the rooms were painted, had new molding installed and new wiring installed. They renovated everything but the bathrooms which were in good shape when we bought the place.

On 11/05/07, we contracted with MyHome for our kitchen/powder room renovation. Demolition began 01/21/08 & we have been without a kitchen since due to MyHome s consistent negligence, ineptitude & deceit. We ve kept a detailed log of the project, but here are a few notable facts: MyHome worked a total of 15 days in the 80 days they were on the project. MyHome did not adequately protect the spaces adjoining the work site from dust/debris. MyHome left us without water in main bath for 2 days. MyHome admitted not measuring the location of steam pipes/plumbing & then tried to charge us for changes when these issues were discovered. MyHome refused to itemize the labor costs. They said that the number was FINAL even if an unexpected load-bearing wall were to be discovered. Yet, they kept trying to go over the cost of incidentals. MyHome said that they would provide their own uniformed, professional, trained workers for our job. Instead they sent unprofessional & incompetent subcontractors, some of whom they admitted to never having used before. MyHome framed the kitchen incorrectly. We sent MyHome a letter noting our concerns & met with them to work out an agreement. At first, this seemed to work. Most of the demo was completed & the framing was done. MyHome requested a third installment of $6500 per the labor contract. We said that given they have only worked 4 full days & 3 partial days, a re-evaluation of the payment schedule is in order. Between 02/25 03/05, insulation, drywall, tile & painting were done. On 03/06, MyHome finally unpacked & laid out the cabinets. It was revealed that: Additional framing errors were made, Cabinets were the wrong size &/or color, Cabinets were damaged, Cabinets/pieces were missing. It was determined that cabinets could not be installed at this time & replacements needed to be reordered. On 04/03, two base cabinet replacements (without doors) were delivered & installed so that counter-top template could be made. We expressed concerns regarding the quality of installation & further damages to cabinets, but MyHome never addressed them. On 04/08, MyHome & a representative from the cabinet manufacturer inspected the cabinets. The manufacturer requested this inspection because of MyHome s damage claims. Upon viewing the quality of the installation thus far, the cabinet rep was skeptical that damages came from the manufacturer. He said that MyHome had had these cabinets in their possession for months. He doesn't know how many times they've been moved nor how they were stored & handled. He said that the responsibility lies with MyHome. On 04/09, we sent MyHome a certified letter stating that MyHome had 2 weeks from receipt to complete the kitchen or we would proceed with legal action. Except for a text message from the head of production saying "I got the letter," we never heard from them. Now we are in a legal battle with them to get our money & our lives back.

First of all, it is very expensive and the quality of work is not that good. The job was supposed to take 8-10 weeks and ended up being done in 6 months. There plumbing skills were lacking. Things were ordered incorrectly and not followed up on. They draw you in by with their fancy showroom and pamphlets but when it comes down to it they have huge problems with communication within the company and nobody knows what the other is doing. There probably are some really good "remodeling consultants and project managers" that work there but I was stuck with 2 losers. My "project manager" never came to site unless I called to him to tell him about mistakes that were made. Some of the front office people try to be helpful but when it comes down to it what you get is not the quality of work you expect after spending so much money. The crew was very nice and courteous but had not guidance and therefore did not do quality work, had floor in bathroom replaced twice, put in incorrect.

A nightmare. Told it was a four week job. At six months it was not complete. When workers showed up (often they did not) they were different people each time. Incorrect materials were used. They initially applied regular plaster board rather than "green" board (mildew proof) on the walls - that had to be removed. The custom mosaic tiles were not installed correctly - did not butt at corners and were not plumb. They had to be removed and replaced (that is ordered again from Italy). During the demolition, there was no provision for protecting the rest of the apartment. There was dust everywhere and they damaged the wood floors. The worker hung their coats on expensive art work they placed on the floor. The design for the shower was not correct so water flooded out into the hall. The grout continues to crack. Thanks to my designer, the overall look is great. The quality of the finished product is only fair. The time and energy I spent on this project was ridiculous.
Description of Work: Gut renovation of a small, full bath in an apartment. Removed all tiling, and fixtures. Eliminated the bath tub and replaced it with a shower area. Walls were covered with an engineered mosaic tiles, floor with a ceramic tile. I selected the fixtures and hardware.

They did a very good job on the remodeling. Everything looks great and as I wanted it to look. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that it took them a little longer than was planned. It got me upset for a while, but then I just had to understand that these things take time and that sometimes it will take a little longer because of problems that could be encountered on the way. Other than that the job was very nice and very clean. They did a good a job not leaving any wastes and things like that in the bathroom area.

We were in the process of buying a co-op in Queens, NY, needing renovation of kitchen and 2 baths, painting and floor refinish for entire unit. Needed to get a labor and materials estimate to help us with our bid on the apartment. The rep. said he could provide this; I provided a floor plan and dimensions. His preliminary estimate was $48K. Wife & I took a second 1 hour meeting with him, discussed materials. I asked for another preliminary estimate, showing labor costs, plus material costs in 3 grades of quality. He promised this in 2 days. One week later, he provided a boilerplate letter describing their "services", with a labor only estimate of $48,500. Use these people only if someone else is paying the bill or if money is no object. They offer a small showroom with limited products; they purport to be NYC experienced general contractors; they aren't. We're so glad we went no further with "my home". We got nothing, at least we paid nothing but time. Avoid Avoid Avoid.
Description of Work: Completed 2 one hour consultations. Got a worthless "estimate" on renovation which boiled down to 5 rooms, $10,000 per = $50,000. No breakdown, no options, no follow-up.

Overall is was a very positive experience. Lasha and his crew showed up on time when they promised. Each and every day they cleaned up at the end of the workday which kept the mess to a minimum. They are true craftsmen. The tile work (both floor and backsplash) was done beautifully and I am a graphic design who loves perfection! The project was on time and within budget. No hidden costs, no contractor caused delays. The workers were courteous and pleasant. Although renovating anywhere is stressful (especially when you are living there), My Home representatives were readily available for questions and to ease my way through the process. I'd definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Total remodel of the kitchen. Lasha and his crew did the demolition, repaired walls, installed a terrific ceramic tile floor, installed all new cabinetry, new countertops and a beautiful marble tile backsplash. Plus installed all new appliances and lighting. And of course painted the walls.

My Home was perfect for working professionals like us; as their all-in-one service made the renovation process as painless as renovations go. We would like to commend our project manager, Osh, in particular. He is just wonderful in every way: realistic: unlike other contractors we have experienced, Osh always under-promised, but over-delivered. They were resourceful: Osh always suggested good solutions to problems that not only satisfied our style requirements, but also stayed within our budget. They were responsive: he always responded within hours if not minutes! Responsible: Osh made sure that the results were as we discussed. When they made a mistake, they either fixed it or gave us credit for their mistakes. We would truly recommend Osh and My Home to anyone!
Description of Work: Complete remodeling of the kitchen. Complete remodeling of the bathroom (e.g. re-tiling, plumbing, shower installation, and shower door installation). They also painted throughout the apartment.
