MORGAN MANHATTAN MOVING & STORAGE

My husband's employer hired this company to move us so I don't know what they paid for their services. Whatever they paid was too much. Morgan Manhattan packed up and moved my belongings from two separate locations on two days and both days they arrived late and short staffed. The experience was so stressful I would have been better off packing myself. On the second day of the move they didn't finish until 11:30 pm and I had tenants moving in the following day. They began at 9:30 am although I was assured they would arrive at 7am. Because they were short staffed they didn't want to move anything out of the apartment until the backup staff arrived because they would be to tired to do it all themselves. So 8.5hrs. in to the job not one box had been removed from my apartment. They couldn't wrap any of the furniture because there were too many boxes in the way. I couldn't walk in my apartment or see what was being done since there were boxes piled everywhere. I wondered if they would finish in time for me to get the place ready for the tenants. I. Had scheduled a cleaning person to help me get the apartment ready for the new tenants and I had to cancel her. At 7:30pm the backup people came and they finally finished at 11:30 pm. They left the place a mess with leftover packing materials strewn around. I have a wall of built in bookshelves around a fireplace with a flatscreen Tv above. That is where they started the packing and worked there way to the rear. The boxes were piled so high I couldn't see that they hadn't taken packed my tv. When the back up crew arrived there was total chaos. No one was in charge and people were just scrambling to finish the job. I ended up throwing things away rather than wait for them to be packed. I went to bed (on my blow up mattress) and when I awoke and started to clean I noticed they had left things behind and saw my tv was still on the wall. I called Morgan Manhattan and the owner of the company made excuses for the lack of staff and jokingly blamed me for moving on the busiest day of the year and said that if my apartment had been larger I wouldn't have been bothered by all the boxes piled everywhere. He also said that I lied about the tv and that I had told the moving men that I didn't want it. Isn't it odd that they packed the manual and the remote control? Bottom line, they were understaffed, and the owner took no responsibility for his company. I would advise people to avoid this company and not have the kind of nightmare I experienced. By the way, the company that moved us into our new house (in another state) was so much more professional. They told me that they always take out the furniture first and move the boxes out as soon as they are packed and labeled. They had never heard of the kind of experience I had with Morgan Manhatan. My experience with them was stress free. They arrived on time and finished in a timely fashion.

They were great! They did a nice job, showed up when they said they would, everything was done as agreed, and they arrived to Chicago when scheduled. All of my possessions were in good condition. I was pleased with the experience.

THEY DID FINE. THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME, AND THEY DID NOT BREAK ANYTHING. THEY GOT THE JOB DONE RATHER QUICKLY. THEIR PRICE WAS AVERAGE FOR BEING IN THIS AREA.
