Description of Work: Fixed the tears on the roofing material, cleaned the gutter repainted the whole roof.

Description of Work: John came and immediately saw that the issue wasn't so much our roof (which needed a few minor patches here and there) but the surrounding brick wall which was crumbling and probably the cause of our leaks. He said our roof looked pretty good and didn't need to be entirely replaced (which we initially thought), so he suggested fixing those patches, repairing the brick wall, and then silver washing over our blacktop roof (which we sorely needed). The whole job took 3 and half hours, and so far looks good (with a 5 year guarantee). John was professional and straightforward, so we're glad it worked out.

Description of Work: The roofer came to my house as part of the Angie's list deal for an inspection and fixing any problems. The guy came and just very quickly spread tar on a few holes in the roof and then basically told me I needed $2,500 more work done on my roof. I have had my entire roof re-done for $2,000 in the past, so I thought that was REALLY high. I didn't like how fast and furious this guy talked and I felt like he was just trying to get me to spend more money than I had to. I didn't feel like he put tar on as many places as I possibly needed either. I felt like he wanted to move on as fast as he could.

Description of Work: I bought a $99 roof maintenance package because I had a leak coming into a room where the roof was right above. The first young man said the leak was coming from the cracked flashing at the seam of the roof and gave me a price to fix it and i agreed. He left and sent a worker back with a different supervisor and i asked the supervisor a question about the leak and he was surprised the first guy had said they could fix the leak and said the flashing repair would not come with a leak guarantee and that we really needed to replace the roof (lower where the leak was coming from). They re-secured the rear upper gutter and then left. Good thing is i didn't have to pay more for something that ultimately might now have fixed the problem but I worry about what would have happened had i not asked a question. Also I didn't like paying just to secure a gutter and basically obtain a quote for a new roof. |Overall they seemed to care about their reputation and the customer experience which left me with no hard feelings.

Description of Work: I spoke to 2 "John McGavins," the first with a California area code! I thought Angie's list was for local professionals, not mega-contractors who find a sub-contractor, who then finds yet another sub-contractor. The guy who finally showed up (in a compact car with a lady friend in tow... not a good sign) pronounced my roof in good shape, from the ground, no inconvenient ladder-climbing necessary. I had a leak next rain storm. Further work I needed was to cost $2500. I cancelled and found (on my own) a local contractor who did the work for $500 and it is excellent. | |I don't need a paid subscription to Angie's list for this poor referral. Wondering whether this list is growing in size and diminishing in quality.

Description of Work: John Jr. came over and we agreed to have a new roof put on. I think I paid over the going rate, but I had put this off for a while and my flat roof over the porch was leaking so I decided not to wait for additional bids. | |I do think they did a good job. However I also had to install new gutters which were done just before the new roof. I noticed during a large rain storm that there were leaks between the end of the roof and the gutter. They may have fixed this after a return recently (it was too cold and they were away for a few months. I did call a about two months ago and they said their foreman would come to look. He did not. I called again recently and they came over and said I need not be home for the fix. | |I also asked if the original $149 inspection fee should be included in the price--I thought of this later. They would not agree.

Description of Work: He did some coating on my roof in regards to a leak as well as offered a protective coating. He provided the service professionally and offer to come back with a 5 year warranty. I would recommend this company.

Description of Work: Applied new "Timberline" lifetime architectural shingles over entire room, applied new collars where needed, tightened & repaired gutters.
