We recently undertook a complete gut renovation of our small kitchen by MCKB (Manhattan Center Kitchen and Bath). This was one of many renovation projects for us, so we have had extensive experience with other contractors. This was our second project with MCKB. Every aspect of the project, from planning with Hany, to its execution with Meryl and Lori, was flawless. Hany listened carefully to our ideas and helped us design a kitchen to expand our storage space dramatically while respecting our own sense of design. He thoughtfully planned every detail. There were no ?surprises? at any point in the project. The timeline was met and communication was excellent. The tradesmen who worked in our apartment were considerate of the building regulations and were very careful to protect the work area. All of their work was done beautifully and was up to code. Our input during the project was always considered and a few punch list items were corrected. The result is a beautiful and functional kitchen. We could not be more pleased with the result and we highly recommend MCKB.

They were wonderful. Hany, the designer came in while I was not in town and did everything perfectly. The cabinets came out beautiful. They ordered everything for me and delivered to my contractor. Everyone there was as nice as can be. They were able to match the prices on products found at other locations.
Description of Work: They remodeled my apartment including Caesar stone cabinet tops, new faucets, signature cabinetry, LK sinks, roll faucets and all bathroom fixtures.

Thank you for the kind and honest review, as you know all of our staff work very hard to give you individual attention, and to really understand your specific needs for your project. As you can imagine, no two renovations are the same. We look forward to assisting you in the future; if you ever need anything please call.

Very helpful and friendly, and completely professional. Wide selection of materials and no pressure to purchase. They often went above and beyond to find a solution. And they actually seem to enjoy their work! I would definitely use them again.

Every so often I walk into the showroom to speak with the individual who did this. My complaint is that they did not make it clear that if you do not like their cabinets or find them too expensive, you are out $2500 because they don't even give you the one page drawing - a drawing that I could have gotten myself from Ikea, not an architectural drawing. It has taken me so long to complain because I am so embarrassed, I feel I was taken. I had read good reviews about MCKand B and that is why I went to them. I was shocked when they refused to provide me with the drawing. That is what is not clear - their one page agreement does not say that you do not get the drawings if you decide not to purchase their cabinets. Again, I thought long and hard before contacting Angie's because I can't believe I allowed this to happen to me.
Description of Work: I entered the showroom on 19th street, and was approached by one of the sellers - I rather not state his name unless it is necessary - I informed him that I wanted to renovate my kitchen - an L kitchen 12 x 13 feet. I had read good reviews about MCKB. He sounded knowledgeable concerning kitchen designs and I signed an agreement whereby they would come to my home and design the kitchen for $2500, and that money would be credited against cabinets if I purchased the cabinets from them. I paid $2500, they came to my home - took measurements and prepared a plan. When I informed them that I did not like their cabinets they refused to give me the drawings for the kitchen and refused to return the $2500. I informed then that it was my clear understanding from the one page agreement I signed that if I did not use their cabinets I would be able to keep the simple drawings. They refused to give me the drawings.

At MCKB, we are always fair and upfront about our policies and procedures with our clients. We have been in the same location for more than 12 years and in business for much longer. All of our agreements and contracts are fully explained in detail. In the case of [member name removed], she signed a voluntarily (not under duress) $2,500 retainer agreement that clearly states that the fee is applied to the cost of the cabinetry, and not refunded. We considered posting a copy of this agreement on the website, but we chose to take the high road. We are not in the business of selling plans, and our plans are complete CAD drawings/3D renderings which are professional industry standard. We are a full-service home renovation company with our own designers, architects, contractor, mill and showroom. We have an A plus rating with the BBB, we are members of the National Kitchen and Bath Assoc., AIA, and many others. In this business, it is hard to please everyone, but we try our best.

This was the easiest part of my renovation. The salesperson (Zinga) was knowledgeable and helpful. She helped my pick out all of the things I needed, even some things I didn't know I needed. For instance she said I needed a "tile flange" for the tub I was buying. Later my co-op board said I needed one too--even though my contractor was clueless. She also saved me from a big mistake--I was about to order a tub with a PVC drain. She told me this wasn't up to code in NYC. The folks at the home improvement store had no clue, and if I had bought it, no licensed NYC plumber could have legally installed it. My only issue is that they are lightly staffed on weekends, so sometimes I had to wait a while to sit down with her... but once I did I was glad she took so much time with me. Their prices were competitive and they had a great selection of higher end fixtures.
Description of Work: I purchased all of the fixtures for my bathroom renovation there- vanity, tub, toilet, hardware, etc. I did not use them as a contractor.
They screwed up everything. It was a disaster. There was something wrong with every part of the work that they did. They didn't order things in time, they didn't inspect items, they didn't return for repairs, when they said they would, and it took a very long time to get a lot of the work finished. It seems like they over extend themselves, with not enough people and they have poor infrastructure. So he does not know how to say he is wrong or admit there is a problem. It was really bad. I lost a lot of money on this project and had to do many things myself, and it still isn't done. I've paid out over $200,000 and the work is still not complete. I would never ever use them in a million years. I wasted so much money and got very little with lots of poor quality.
Description of Work: Hired them to completely renovate my 750 square foot apartment. The work included kitchen & bath, flooring, crown molding, doors, skim coating, painting, built in furniture units, custom grills over hvac units, custom cabinetry, counters, and much more.

WE WERE HIRED FOR A COMPLETE RENOVATION OF A ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT. THE CLIENT WAS ABUSIVE TO MY STAFF AND UNREASONABLE THROUGHOUT EVERY ASPECT OF THE PROJECT. WE COMPLETED THE RENOVATION. WE WERE PAID IN FULL AND PRAISED FOR A "FANTASTIC PERFECT JOB". TWO DAYS LATER, A BUILDING FIRE DESTROYED THE APARTMENT. WE ASSISTED THE CLIENT IN HER FIGHT WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR MANY MONTHS. THE INSURANCE COMPANY GOT SO FED UP WITH THE CLIENT, THEY BASICALLY PAID HER TO GET RID OF HER. SHE BEGGED ME TO COME BACK AND DO THE APARTMENT AGAIN AT A QUARTER OF THE ORIGINAL COST. WE DISCUSSED HER OPTIONS AND DID WHAT WE COULD TO REDO THE APARTMENT FOR HER. I TOOK THIS JOB AGAIN BECAUSE I FELT BAD FOR HER. CLEARLY, IT WAS A MISTAKE TO EVER DEAL WITH THIS PERSON. IN THE 21 YEARS I AM DOING THIS, I HAVE NEVER HAD A CLIENT GET DOWN ON HER HANDS AND KNEES AND POINT OUT "IMPERFECTIONS IN THE WOOD FLOORING" THAT WE DIDN'T EVEN INSTALL. IT WAS INSTALLED BY HER BUILDING INSURANCE COMPANY. FURTHERMORE, WE STOPPED THE JOB FOR NON PAYMENT. TO THIS DAY, THERE IS OVER $10,000.00 OWED BY THIS CLIENT TO OUR COMPANY'S. MY STAFF AND MY BUSINESS PARTNER FEEL THAT IT WAS BEST TO GET AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PERSON AS POSSIBLE, NO MATTER THE COST. THIS CLIENT IS UNGRATEFUL AND DOESN'T DESERVE THE HARD WORK MY ENTIRE STAFF PROVIDED. SHE IS AN ANGRY PERSON WITH MANY PERSONAL ISSUES. I WELCOME ANY COMMENTS FROM ANY POTENTIAL CLIENTS. I CAN BE REACHED IN MY OFFICE TO DISCUSS THIS FURTHER IF NECESSARY.
