I had reached out to four other electricians beforehand that didn’t show up! So when I encountered Leader Electric’s professional service, quick and someone who actually showed up, I was already happy. Then, Maxim’s work quality was so good that it made me certain Leader Electric is the only company I’ll be reaching out to for anything electric in NYC.

They contacted me after listing my needs on Angies list, and we spoke over the phone. the representative went over their pricing and answered my questions, however he failed to ask of me what i felt should have been asked. I pretty much just told them what i wanted done and there was no other questions from them. When i asked if they would have the materials on hand to perform the job as i didn't want to absorb costs associated to not being prepared, all he responded with was that the vehicles are stocked with most of the things they would need. He was more focused on getting me to sign a credit authorization form with personal data in an email as well as an agreement that i understand their formal literature in regards to their expectations. When i stated that in the past other companies i've used just provided the invoice and charged my card with me present, his reply was that they are an established company and they follow their procedures. Well i signed and returned all authorizations (nervously but didn't include the ccv on my cc as a precaution). It turned out that they didn't stock a standard box for an outdoor receptacle that was on the work order to be replaced. They wanted to charge me for the 35 minutes it will take them to go to home depot to get a standard round box as the old one i had was an older square style incompatible for the ring camera... I simply said i'm not willing to pay for that time and if i'm not accommodated there is no need to start the work. They absorbed the cost and did the work to my satisfaction, i later return to my computer to see an email from them (leaving names out) stating that they don't appreciate me playing games with them and not to expect any more handouts from them.... They also ignored the fact that i wanted to add a 3 way switch to my order and ordered the technician (who i feld did a good job) to not accommodate my request as there are other scheduled stops for him.. (on the phone and email i clearly said if i was happy with the tech i would also like to complete the 3 way switches). If you don't mind signing your rights away that ultimately enable them to provide you with sub par customer support and over charge you for their poor planning (unsure if it's intentional), then you may get a good tech but i've only seen one of them and i won't be returning to them.

Leader was great. The electrician arrived within 2 hours for this very urgent problem and tracked down the issue methodically to a bad connection in an overhead light that had been corroded years ago. The issue occurred after I changed a bulb and probably disturbed the bad connection. I have old aluminum wires (1941 house) and the method of connection back then is some sort of glue and electrical tape that had deteriorated. The company was very professional and responsive. The costs was clearly laid out in advance. I will definitely use them again!

My experience with Leader Electric was horrible. My primary reason for hiring Leader was to put in a recess wall outlet for my TV. Josh, the service manager asked me if I wanted them to mount the TV while they were putting in the recess wall outlet. I hadn't thought about that and ASSUMED they knew what they were doing. My mistake! It took the tech, Nabil 4 hrs to put a "simple" mounting bracket. There were no complications, 2 screws in the stud and 2 butterflies in the wall which Best Buy had to replace the screws as the tech put regular screws, NOT butterfly screws. This should have taken no more than 1 hr to mount and 30 - 60 minutes to put in the outlet. - The tech took 2 unreasonably long breaks, one to go to Home Depot to buy the part they should have had in the van as the tech knew that he was putting in the recess outlet. That was the reason I needed an electrician in the first place. The form I signed said that it would be a "short" trip to the van to get a part or pay a meter. 1 hr 40 min of break is NOT reasonable and I should not have had to pay for that. Agnes, not sure what her title was, should not be dealing with customers as she was CONFRONTATIONAL and RUDE saying that they can't carry every part in the van.She had ZERO customer service skills. I am well aware of that a tech cannot carry every part in the van as I managed a business that had service techs and know exactly what goes on. The tech would get as much info as possible before they went to the office so that they were as prepared as possible. This was a no brainer. The tech knew what needed to be done and should have had the part. If I had been told I needed them I could have bought them. I am sure I would have paid half the price that I was charged. There were a couple of other small things that I needed to be taken care of which took about 1 hour. Thanks to my handyman I would have been charged an additional hour as he stopped the tech from tearing down my cabinets to replace under the counter kitchen lights. The place was a mess when he left. The tech put a dent in my newly refinished floor and Agnes made light of it taking no responsibility or apology for the damage. I had scuffs all over the floor where the service tech worked as he did not remove his shoes. I asked him 3x to be respectful of the floor. Bottomline, at tops I should have been charged no more than 4 hrs for what was done. Agnes thinks she did me a favor by discounting the inflated charges which I should NOT have been charged because the tech took 3 additional hours to do the mount. Leader should not be offering to install TV mounts if they do not know what they are doing and they clearly DID NOT. I could have had my handyman do it for significantly less, however I thought this tech was suppose to be proficient in placing a bracket. Obviously that was not the case. I was charged for 7.5 hrs of time and they charged a separate fee for the first hour which should have been included in the 7.5 hrs over overcharge, $1,227. They inflate the price and discount it like they were doing you a favor. As a new customer I was entitled to $100 discount. After a heated discussion with Agnes she adjusted the price to $639. I would absolutely not recommend Leader Electric.

The description of what happened is riddled with exaggerations, and untruths. The scope of the work was as follows: (underlined) Install new outlet in wall for living room TV. – Completed without issue. Install TV bracket in living room. - The bracket was mounted professionally and without issue. We did bring a recessed outlet for the job but she wanted a specific kit that home depot carried. She gave us the information for it and we went shopping (this is billable time). According to GPS this took 45 minutes. The part was charged to her at cost. Rewire a wall switch to control outlets in the living room. - Completed without issue. Install existing low voltage cables into bedroom wall. - Completed without issue. Install 3 customer provided LED PUC lights. - There was a short in one of the existing circuits necessary for the lights to be installed. We troubleshot and traced the wiring to find the fault in the wall behind the cabinets. The handy man was called because he had installed the cabinets (and likely caused the short at the same time) and was familiar with how to get behind them. This took some time to trace the problem and carefully get inside the cabinetry without causing damage. We repaired the short circuit and installed her PUC lights successfully without removing or damaging her cabinets. All of the requested work was done and to a high quality. Regarding shopping for her specialty item- this was made clear ahead of time in our service contract, which she had signed, that time spent shopping is billable. We do accept customer provided equipment but she did not provide or offer to get the parts herself. It also states in our service contract, that time spent beyond the normal working hours of 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM is billable at the overtime rate of $142.50 /hour. In order to complete the job, our technician had to stay until 7:30 PM, 3 hours of overtime work. [Member Name Removed] called the office at 8:00 PM complaining about how much time our tech had spent, and complained about damage to her floor. I, Agnes, answered the call and did everything in my power to make her happy. The dent in her floor was microscopic, yet I agreed to discount her bill for the inconvenience. I agreed to not charge her for the travel time spent getting the specialty part for her. I did not charge her for the overtime, despite the fact that we were paying overtime rate to our electrician. She wanted an additional $100 off for being a first time Angie’s List client. I thought this was excessive, seeing that I had already applied heavy discounts, however I agreed to give her an additional discount of $100! The original bill, which should have been $1,227 was now $639, a discount of $588! She agreed to this price and provided her credit card number. Afterwards I was upset that I had allowed her to browbeat me into giving her so much of a discount. The following morning she called and said that she would only pay $300 for the entire job and was going to reverse the charges on her credit card that she had approved the night before. Up to this point I had been very polite and accommodating, however, I must admit that [Member Name Removed]’s relentless gouging and false allegations did change my attitude for the worse. I refused to apply any further discounts and she again agreed to be charged the deeply discounted rate that had been agreed upon the night before. A few days later, she reversed the charges! After providing ample proof to the credit card company, the charge was reinstated in our favor. Hence, she has posted this slanderous review! We appreciate the business from all of our clients and make sure to keep our customers happy, however it became clear to us that [Member Name Removed] was unreasonable in both her expectations for how long the work should take and in her requests for discounts. We feel we must defend our name against this shameless attempt at getting services for free. It is unfortunate that this client has chosen to abuse the platform of being able to give honest feedback.

Our electrician Hans is great--a true master electrician. He was confident, focused, responsible, punctual, precise, and meticulous. He called to let us know when he was arriving. He went the extra mile in describing each step of his work, making us feel like we were truly in good hands. He insisted on cleaning up thoroughly--he even asked to use our vacuum cleaner and removed trash from our apartment. He was well prepared for the job; he didn't have to leave the site to get extra materials. If he did have to get something, it was in his van. Hans is an absolute professional. We would hire Leader Electric again because Hans represented the company so well. We will ask for him specifically for future work! Office staff at Leader were courteous, friendly, and helpful in providing estimates and setting up the job. They could have done a better job communicating with us changes in the timeline of the work schedule in advance (which is why we rated a B for Punctuality).

They told me it was going to be a one day job. It ended up being a 4 day job. Each time they came they made mistakes (leaving a huge mess, installing faulty sensors, etc.) The techs were unprofessional and unsupervised. I ended up have to pay my Super extra to come back again, and again, and again to keep an eye on them. The service and follow up was spotty. I ended up spending a bunch of time on the phone over multiple days to hound them in order to make sure the job was completed. I would not hire them again.

[Member Name Removed], I'm sorry that things didn't go as smoothly as usual. You had indicated that we didn't need additional insurance, when we actually did, so we weren't allowed to enter the building. We went out of our way to return the next day expecting to work a full day, but your super unexpectedly made us leave at 3:30. That gave us no time to clean up, as we would normally do. We returned as soon as possible. Unfortunately, 2 of the sensors were defective, so we replaced them at no charge for time or material. It would have helped if you had been there. In any case, we completed the work, everything you had asked for was provided. It took us extra time for which you were not charged. I'm sorry that it wasn't enough to please you.

He came and checked for electricity. He checked switch box and cables in garage and then checked meter room and pipe in tank room where the garage wiring had been connected in the past, He cut some wires and then explained that the electric was cut-off. It only took 11 minutes. Then he wrote up invoice and I used the 10% discount coupon for new customers/ senior citizens. I needed a letter from a licensed electrician documenting electrical cut-off which he brought with him which he told me he could only give me if his work resulted in no active electricity. Since the company is far away and I had a time limit it to obtain this letter I greatly appreciated their concern for my dilemma and bringing the letter needed for the Building Department. They charged me $150 for the letter which had the licensed electrician's seal, license number and signature. That is the going price for a letter from an electrician or plumber.
Description of Work: I needed to document electric cut-off for a garage in order to apply for a garage demolition permit. I also needed a letter from a licensed electrician documenting that there was no active electricity in the garage. I had called many electricians and they did not call back .Some said they would come and then did not show up . I decided to try an electrician from Angie's List. I noticed that Leader Electric was at the top of the list and had 270 reviews. I read their reviews and was very impressed. I hesitated calling them because they were located in Manhattan and knew the hardship of fighting the traffic from Manhattan to the Bronx where I reside, I called them and asked if they would travel to the Bronx, They said ."yes" I asked them if there were travel charges and they said,"No". They told me that they charge $190. for the first hour and $95 for each additional hour. There also was a 10%discount for new customers an senior citizens, There is a coupon on the site you must present for the discount.
