My son spilled milk on my laptop and Apple wanted $1240 to repair it. I found LaptopMD on Angie's list and got it back working perfectly, without the loss of any data, for $350. Not only is this a thumbs up for LaptopMD but a serious indictment of Apple as well.

I will go back to them in the future.

No problems, they performed the service. I did have to call a couple of times to find out when it would be ready.

see above Also appreciate that you can bring it in for 30 days after the pick-up in case the problem recurs; was too lazy to do so when had similar slight glitch, since it's kind of a pain to carry my laptop around.

I walked into the shop, and I was favorably impressed. They looked like they were working reasonably and were well-organized. It took them two days to look at it. They told me that I would be better off just to forget the printer and get another one, which I did. That as far as I know was okay. The printer was under a warranty, but in order to collect on the warranty, I had to show the printer company that there was a reason for my getting another printer before I could buy a new one. So I called up LaptopMD and asked them if they could send me an email putting down the estimate in writing. That turned into about four phone calls and some emails. They told me that if they were going to put it into writing, it was going to cost me another $40. Finally, it took me about a month and a half to get an email. I sent it to the warranty company. The warranty company told me that the email wasn’t sufficient because it wasn’t on a letterhead. The person at LaptopMD said that he had had a lot of experience with companies for warranties, and if they were going to put the estimate on their letterhead, then they would have to charge $50 for it. I felt ripped off. If he was a professional, he would have told me the story that was relevant to the question that was asked and not sprung it on me after I had paid him $40. First of all, I spent what they had asked of me in the beginning. I asked how much their estimate was. I assumed it would be $40. I have lived a long time in this world but no one has ever refused to scribble on a piece of paper. If they said it was a fact that they went through all the work of deciding that I needed a new printer, I don’t see the reason why they should have had a problem putting it down in writing. I was extremely unhappy for not being told that, and the fact that they told me that they had had a lot of experience and knew that that was what I would need, and they knew I was still under warranty when I went to them, I just felt like I was being held up. I could not just walk away from the fact that it was going to cost me $90 totally to find out what the problem was and for them to say it in writing. The guy in the end sounded very pleasant and confident - maybe that is how they do business - but it made me a little weary. I was in business myself for about 48 years, and I would never have done that. I assume that they took the printer, tested it and figured out that it was a problem with the motherboard, but they gave me a reasonably sounding report orally; I have no way of second guessing them on that though. I didn’t have any complaints about it, and I was not offended that they charged $40 for telling me what might have been very quick for them to know. The real issue was that they had misrepresented what the cost for an estimate would be. They were kind of close to being fraudulent, but it was in the matter of their pricing rather than of pretending they had done work they never did or something. I am a physicist and an engineer, and I have seen shops before. They had a nice operation going on, but I didn’t expect to be abused about what the price was. If I had known that, I probably would have said that I was going to someplace else or that I would just forget about it. I had to go through the trouble of lifting the heavy printer, and I had to carry it in a cab all the way up there. I didn’t pay them the fee. I don’t like telling them that I don’t like what they did, but it is a fact, and I think it is important other people know that. Although I think they might do a good job, I would probably not use them when I hear back from the warranty company or in the future.

There was nothing worse than to see years of my personal data disappear one evening, and be left with a laptop that showed no signs of life . I was completely crushed since nothing was backed up and not a single place I went to could even guarantee that anything could be recovered. I was quoted $800 at one place and that was just to retrieve the data. I was told to go to Tekserve but they also offered data recovery and told me my computer was not even worth fixing. I literally did not know where to turn. I ended up searching Google the next day and finding LaptopMD. The name itself sounded comforting. I gave them a call and they sounded compassionate and reassuring. They offered me to come in for a free estimate and diagnosis. When I got there the Laptop doctors were truly on point. They ran a hard drive scan right on the spot and confirmed that my hard drive did crash. I was quoted a great price which included data recovery, a new hard drive with installation, and anti virus software. They offered me same day service but stated it might take longer depended on how long it would take to recover the data. I got a call around lunch time which had me completely overjoyed. They were able to use some incredible software which allows you to temporarily restore the bad sectors long enough so they could get my data. I had my laptop restored with a new bigger hard drive, running like new, and ALL MY DATA WAS SAFE. As I was leaving the manager glanced at my iPhone to see the huge cracks on my screen. He told that their technicians also specialize in iPhone repairs. I stopped in the next day on my lunch break and my phone was fixed in 15 minutes. The customer waiting area has a gorgeous view of Midtown and overall my experience with LaptopMD was amazing. Since then two of my co-workers have gone to them for their iPhone repairs and they were equally pleased with their service.
