I have bought various kitchen appliances from Krup's over a long period of time. I have been very satisfied... until this time. This place seems to have lost the plot. I had originally called to pick and purchase a range hood (to replace one that Krup's had sold me a few years ago which broke). I spoke to Mitchell, who apparently is one of the owners. He was very knowledgeable, helped me select the right product, and offered a good price. I determined that I could do the installation myself, but I asked if it would be possible to arrange for installation if I decided not to do it myself after all. He said yes, no problem, and quoted me a price of $250 for the installation. After doing some diligence of my own, I called back to place the order. I spoke to someone named Rita. That's when everything started to go south. First Rita said she had it in stock and could have it delivered by the following Tuesday. On Monday she called back to say that there was some sort of computer snafu and she'd have to call back with a new delivery date. It was several days before she got back to me, including one time when I called on a Saturday when the store was open but the person answering the phone was unable to look up my order because "I'm in the front office and the back office is closed now." By then I had looked at the dimensions of the product and decided that installing it myself was beyond my capabilities (cutting into a cabinet with a jigsaw was necessary), so I asked for installation to be arranged. It took over a week to arrange this, including 2-3 iterations of her telling me that she couldn't find anyone who would agree to install it because they didn't do duct work and me telling her that this wasn't necessary, the duct work was already in place and they would just have to tape the new unit to the existing duct and it's the same size. Finally after I threatened to cancel the order, she found someone to install it. She failed to confirm the day and time so I had to call and nag a couple of times to get it confirmed. So I stayed home from work. The guy showed up on time, took some measurements, and said "OK, I can install it. When did you want it installed?" Furious, I called Krup's and spoke to Mitchell. The guy couldn't install it because he didn't have tools or another guy to help him. I asked Mitchell to give me a break on the installation cost because of this screwup. He agreed and said he'd call me back. He never did. I arranged the day and time of actual installation with the installer himself. He came during the time window he had given me and did the job, no problem. But then he presented me with a bill that was $275 instead of the $250 I was quoted. So I called Mitchell back. He agreed to charge me $250, and that was that. I like to deal with indie appliance stores rather than the big chains, but I must say that I've had better experiences with PC Richard and Best Buy. These guys are hopelessly disorganized.

I adore Krups. I am fresh from a time-consuming aggravating year long gut renovation. I must praise those who made my life easier during the process- hence taking time to write this. Thank you Krups! I usually work with Mitchell but everyone there has shown themselves to be highly knowledgeable and well connected in the industry which matters when you need something at a specific time. They are a small family-run shop and they know their product and how to get it in time. There is no BS involved. If they don't know something- they tell you. Other retailers online and in the area could not get me product when Mitch could. I am assuming it's because he's got the right relationships with the dealers and cares about his clients and his business. Everytime I've ordered something he gave me the actual delivery date- unlike dealing with efaucets or other venues who couldn't deliver on time and didn't even bother to let me know their ETA was shot. I trust Krups simply because they delivered. every time. They also saved me the hassle of ordering something which would never come. It makes a big difference when you've got a big renovation and need to stage things. Krups doesn't have a huge shiny storefront nor do they need it. It is a small very stocked storefront with a big warehouse in Long Island and loyal white glove shipping dept. It's not a place to browse for items. It's a place where you consult with them on details on the product, place the order and actually get it when you need it. I can't convey just how wonderful that is! The guys are great who deliver the appliances. They know what they are doing and they care about what they are doing. I trust Krups more than the retailer who is near my Bedford estate. The local company who sells appliances left me hanging, didn't return calls for weeks and their service was very wanton. I am very happy I bought almost all of my plumbing and appliances from Krups. You do need to be patient because they are in high demand for a good reason. I purchased a Wolf Oven, 2 Sub Zero Fridges, 2 Mile' Dishwashers, automatic espresso makers, Sigma exposed shower systems, AGA wine coolers and a gorgeous Ilve Oven from them for both my NYC City Apartment and country estate. I only trust Krups for appliances.
Description of Work: Krups is a true pleasure to deal with in the heart of NYC.
