JMW CONSTRUCTION INC

I have been working with JMW (Michael) since 2006. Michael is very good with a variety of areas, including plumbing, electric, remodel/renovations, bath, kitchen, and more. Its been almost 20 years, and I've hired him for many tasks, big projects, and repairs. He is timely and professional, so much so that I totally trust him and his team to go right into the apartment when nobody is there. As with any service contractor company, you both need to be clear about expectations, time frame, costs, extras, etc.. as problems do arise, and tasks may need to change a bit.. as with any project. I like to do busienss with good people, and JMW/Michael is one of the good ones.

It went well! Michael was so professional. He wouldn't even take shortcuts when he could. He is definitely a great go-to guy. I am afraid to leave such a great review, as I don't want him to get too busy to help me out again; but the truth needs to be told. He is amazing!

He did an A job. He didn't complete it on time but everything else was done beautifully. If I had one criticism it would be punctuality.

Michael is super-reliable, very prompt, and always wanted me to be 100% satisfied. He went above and beyond to meet my expectations. I highly recommend him to others.

He did create a lot of holes which then the guys complained about but he did a good job and he was really honest about what he was doing and he could only do so much because there was only so much electricity coming into the building so its not like he was going to be a miracle worker. I felt like he was really honest, really fair.

He came very last minute was able to squeeze me in on a rush request on my part so that was very kind. There was a little but if lack of communication in that it was hard to get a confirmation that he was really coming and at what time but I happened to be home all day and my request was really last minute so I can't fault him for that at all. I wanted to put up shelves in my kitchen but am unfamiliar with plaster walls. My stud finder was useless. Once he got there the job was quick but he visually leveled the shelves which I never would have done. I own a level and would have used it. My building is crooked the molding is not level. He also drilled one of the brackets upside down and had to flip it drilling more holes. In the end I had my peace of mind that the shelves won't fall but I wasn't over the moon about the value of what I paid for. He cleaned up and was very nice and again really went out if the way to come in short notice. Depending on the service I would possibly use him again but I would be a little more deliberate about some of my instructions.

JMW did a terrific job! Joanna handled all of the paperwork required by my co-op board and property manager. She worked quickly and readily meet the demands of my property manager cheerly and in a timely manner. Michael and his crew were friendly and easy to work with. They cleaned up the worksite daily and made every attempt to contain their materials to as small an area as possible. They also made sure my pets were safe, After finishing the job the cleaned the bathroom until it shone. They were very detail oriented and did a great job of making sure that the walls, ceiling and fixtures in the bathroom were well installed and neatly finished. On occasion, when I found small things that I was unhappy with (e.g. spacing between some installed tiles) they corrected the issue quickly and without any difficulty. Michael provided me with information during each stage of the renovation and always responded quickly when I called. Michael was also very willing to work around my schedule and meet with me when convenient. Although I learned to give him an extra 20 mins. or so to arrive if I planned to meet with him early in the morning. Overall, I highly recommend JMW. They do quality work and reasonable prices with attention to detail.

Michael is a true professional who takes great pride in the quality of work his crew does. Since I had to live through the renovation, they made sure that everything was cleaned up at the end of each day so I could have a bit of space and Michael was very thorough in explaining what the next steps were so this layperson could understand what was being done. As with any reno, there were a few unexpected glitches, but handled appropriately. I'm extremely pleased with the work done and am looking forward to sharing the enjoyment of my new place for the upcoming holidays.

Michael was fair, honest and proficient. Workers were courteous and professional, with good results. Downside was the frenetic schedule - a busy period - resulting in somewhat unpredictable arrival and end times (which conflicted with coop rules), but they did complete the job within the estimated time frame and budget. Michael was very responsive with a repair that was needed several months later.

They had gotten very high marks on Angie's List and they live relatively close by to us so we considered them, used them, and were very happy. They were extremely professional with what they were doing, they were courteous, and did a wonderful job.

He did a great job. He was professional, thorough, and cleaned up after himself. I would use him again and would recommend him to others.

He was cordial, kind, and he left everything neatly done. He was very professional.

He was on time and was very responsive to my requests, however it much longer that I thought it would take. It was supposed to take about 3-4 days for each project, but it ended up being about 4 days for the electrical work and about 8 days for the painting. He gave me an estimate, but the final project price was more at the end.

He started doing some work for me in November and December and then came back to do some things in January. He did a spectacular job and he brought it in for a price that we negotiated. He is not only a very talented carpenter but an all around person who can do all sorts of jobs in your home. I don't want to say he is a handyman because he is a very talented craftsman. He is very splendid, pleasant, honest, and reliable. I could give him my key and he could work here without my being here. I trusted him and he worked very slowly, carefully and methodically and the person that he also brought to assist him was also a very talented craftsman. Regarding price he is very fair. I used him again for additional work. The first thing we had negotiated with the book cases was in November but I was so impressed and I thought that he was so fair that I contracted him to do additional work for me. I would do it again as soon as I need more work done he will be the person I call. It was great because this was actually the first I took at signing someone through Angie's list. I had called a couple of people and spoken to them first and they didn't sound like they did the type of work that I was looking for. But when I spoke to him he was extremely knowledgeable and he came over that same day to look at the furniture in my apartment and give me an estimate and since it was custom-made and I knew how these pieces had been put together initially and how much work went into them. I could tell he knew his stuff hands down. He knew exactly what he was talking about when he assessed this furniture and gave me the estimate. Considering the amount of work that had to go into these cabinets I knew that he was giving me a very fair price. He is a really nice guy. Anyway I could tell people to hire this guy it would be my pleasure. For his responsiveness I thought he was great I would text him, we did part of the texting and I have a schedule that is not only the same and he accommodated me really we were able to work out something. What I really liked is that he did the job in a very kindly manner. He didn't come in and tell me that he couldn't deal with my job three or four weeks down the pike. I was shocked at how soon he was able to start the job and it went really quickly. On his punctuality it was fine. I had no problems with it he was great. He was all over the place with his schedule as was I. We would get things spontaneously. He was very easy to work with.

They came early on a saturday morning as arranged, worked through the day and completely repaired the area of flooring that needed to be removed and replaced that day.They also took all of the debris with them upon completion of the job.

First of all we were very happy that he came out in a pinch. We had electrical go out in half of our house and it didn't seem like that there was anything wrong with the panel or any of the switches flipped. We had also some other repairs in the house a day before so we thought that we had triggered something. So he came and double checked the work that we did and helped in solving the problem. We had called him on a late Sunday and we didn't expect that he would call us back but he did call us back within 15minutes and it was 11'o clock in the night. We were really impressed and he was out the next morning to my house. The price was less than what we expected it to be.

We were very impressed with they quality of the work and the responsiveness of the contractor.

Mr Beltran only did an estimate of the work to be done. Overall; the encounter was poor. I had high hopes after speaking with michael, but we had very poor communications with each other.

He was a pleasure to work with and did the job as promised.

Michael is a great contractor! He is honest, reliable, and does excellent work. Even the painting was done meticulously. It had been very difficult to find someone who was both licensed and insured to do a small-ish job at a fair price. Our bathroom looks brand new, even though we didn't do a major renovation (no new tiles, no new bathtub, etc.) Michael was very flexible and understanding with us regarding the start date (which we had to change several times) and our our co-op's managing agent's irritating demands. His co-worker Oscar was also pleasant and polite. They even cleaned up (mopping included) when they were done. Michael is available by cell and email, which is a great convenience. The job took three days, and he worked over time on the last night to finish the job so it wouldn't stretch into four. Problems that came up during the job (and they always do) were carefully explained to us so that we understood (and luckily he was able to resolve them!) The price was true to his LOWEST original estimate, plus a few extra supplies that were needed along the way, which we reimbursed him for. He kept old parts to show us that he actually removed them and didn't just pocket the new ones he bought. The re-wiring he did with the light fixture probably saved us a fire. Plus he graciously answered our questions on how to solve little problems ourselves (we would love to hire him for everything but aren't financially in the position to). His overall attitude is that unless there is a safety issue that requires a major overhaul, you don't need to spend a ton of money. Other people we interviewed said we'd be crazy to spend less than 10K on making our bathroom livable. They were wrong! His work is guaranteed for a year. Overall a great experience, and we would definitely hire him again.

I called Mike, I was very happy to see he lived in my neighborhood, I explained what I wanted to have done he gave me an estimate, [which I felt was to low!!!] When he returned later and did some measurements he explained the closet door opening would have to be enlarged, He never put any pressure on me to accept his services. I have hired hum to put in a ceiling fan, until I can get permission from my co-op board to enlarge my closet opening/

Michael and his staff arrived on time, did the job within the time and for the price they had promised, were quiet and neat, professional in their attitude and their work, paid particular attention to matching the paint color in the areas they were repairing - all around exceeded my expectatons.

Due to a leak in an upstairs apartment kitchen, there was substantial damage to the apartment in the kitchen and the bordering living room and bathroom. JMW Construction was recommended by another resident in the building. Except for my own indecision in whether or not to choose a new color for the living room, there were very few delays in the work. All reasonable steps were taken to minimize the dust and debris as the work progressed. The project took approximately three weeks from start to finish. The attitude of both Mr. Beltran, the contractor, and his employees was always professional and patient. Explanations of how the work was progressing were made almost daily, and supply receipts were presented in a timely fashion. Mr. Beltran was very good at providing answers to any questions regarding the work being done, and laid out alternatives when requested to do so. I would use JMW construction again for any project regarding this apartment, and have recommended him to other residents in the building and to friends.
