Please choose someone else. They were happy to come, diagnose and remove the air conditioner, but gave us no receipt or piece of paper. They asked if they could bring it back Friday -- we weren't going to be home Friday, so we agreed on Monday. They tried to deliver it on Friday. We reiterated MONDAY. They agreed on Monday, between 10 and 1, and they would call when they were about to come. We stayed home -- called at 3. "oh, sorry, we'll come tomorrow between 1 and 5". That next day we stayed home again, then called at 3 -- "yes, they'll be there." We called at 5 -- "they will be there by 5:30". We called at 6 -- "oh, they're in New Jersey, they can't come till tomorrow, and we tried to deliver this morning and you weren't home." Right, because you told us to be home between 1 and 5. And why didn't you call us, either in the morning to ask where we were, or afterward to tell us you weren't coming? Why have we never gotten a phone call? "I called, you and I spoke about it." Except -- we didn't. I insisted on speaking with someone a level above the woman who answered the phone -- "there's nobody here, I don't have their phone number" -- I insisted and got Eddie. Eddie heard the story, apologized, discovered they had called a completely different phone number from someone else's account, and promised me that our a/c would be the first delivery of the next morning, and that they would call when they were leaving the warehouse, sometime between 9 and 10. At 11, HAVING ONCE AGAIN HEARD NOTHING, I began to call again. May I speak to Eddie? "no, he's not here." Then call him and patch him in. "well, he's on the phone." I'll wait. Hung up after 10 minutes and called back. "he's not here." Yes, he is, you just told me he's on the phone. "oh, yes, he's on the phone, he will call you back. Never heard from him. "The technician will be there in 30 to 45 minutes." They actually did show up. I then got a call asking me for my credit card number, "since you deliberately gave us a false number before." ??? I asked them to send a bill before I gave them my credit card number, because we had NOTHING on paper from them, and I didn't trust them at all at this point. "We don't do that, we send you an invoice after you have paid. It's our company policy." I told them that I wasn't giving them a credit card number until we had a bill. Much back and forth and putting me on hold. "Well, if you won't give us a credit card number, you can pay in cash." We don't keep that kind of cash around the house, and besides: no bill, no pay. "well then our technicians will stay until you give us a credit card number." I agreed, and said we'd give them some ice water, and we were happy to host them for as long as it took to get a bill. They finally took my email address to send a bill, and called me to ask if I'd gotten it. I had not. They had, of course, written it down incorrectly. I got the email, and paid the bill before calling my spouse at home. He said that they were charging us about $100 more than they quoted him. I called again, "no, that is what our technician quoted you." Untrue. But at that point, I was SO TIRED OF DEALING WITH THEM. Please spare yourself from dealing with these people. Nothing but evasion and delay.
Description of Work: Our air conditioner (a year old) would only provide fan, no actual cool air. We believe it had a freon leak (that's what the man who took it away said).

I hired Hitech Central Air Inc. to service my HVAC -- they had immediate availability (first red flag). They arrived and took a look at our unit and told me the problem, the price, and attempted to fix it. They came back after "fixing" it and i tried to explain to them that it still wasn't working and please don't leave. The spoke down to me, told me it was fine, said there is a 3 month guarantee, and couldn't answer simple questions I was asking about why the air still wasn't cooling. Despite all of this, they left, sure enough the air wasn't working. I called the service number and the customer service rep (Melly, who was the only part of this review that is positive, she was helpful and kind), Melly informed me they would be back out later that evening. They didn't show up and didn't update me after I stayed around for hours waiting for them. They then rebooked for the following day. It was two different techs who knew very little about hvacs. They again couldn't answer simple questions and told me it was normal for the air coming out of the unit to be 73 degrees. (thermostat set to 68). The unit wasn't working and the air wasn't cooling. They looked at the unit again and told me it was overheated and to wait a few hours to turn it back on. I did this and it still didn't work. I called them back and set up a return visit again and on this date they didn't show up after I waited all day for their arrival. When I called them they didn't have me on the schedule even though I had an email confirming the date and time. I asked for a refund and for the manager to call me back, they never called. I emailed several times asking for a refund and they never responded to my emails. They claimed a 3 month guarantee but clearly don't back that up. Very disappointed in their service and their techs have very minimal hvac knowledge. Since their visit I hired another company who did an evaluation and they were able to tell me the issue and the fix very quickly and professionally. They informed me that when Hitech Central Air loaded my system with extra refrigerant they likely exacerbated the issue. Run far away from this company, not only because they ghosted me and stole my money. But more so because the techs simply do not know what they are doing.

We bought a new air conditioning/heating unit from Hi Tech in June of last year. While the installation was easy and professionally done, the unit seemed to be a lemon. It didn't cool as well as our other units, and the heating was totally inadequate. We called to ask if they could fix it and they sent technicians three times with no effect. We finally asked that they uninstall the unit and sell us something better, but they ghosted us. I left voicemails that were not returned, then sent an email 2/27/23 that has yet to be answered.
Description of Work: We wanted to exchange the unit they installed.

Horrible. Do not use ever, avoid like the plague. I have been jerked around for an entire week by this company and they are the most unprofessional company I have ever used in my entire life. They came to fix my unit; first, I get the window from 1-5 and am told that they will call 30-45 minutes before they arrive. They don't show up til 6:30, no call or anything. They take both my units away, one needs to be cleaned and the other needs to be replaced. The next day, they bring me a new unit (window also from 1-5) and everything seems fine. On Monday, I get a call from my super that the new unit is leaking onto the apartment below. I call on Monday, and they say that they will bring my old unit back on Wednesday and will send technicians to check out the leak. On Wednesday, two guys show up who clearly have no idea what they're doing and don't know anything about the new unit. They come to the leaking unit, pull off the cover and look at the unit from the outside, and put the cover back on all within 3 minutes. They tell me that it's a new unit, it's supposed to leak, and a leak means that it's working... I call the office to complain that I have now waited around again for them and they didn't bring my old unit back. I get told that the old unit will be delivered Friday now (window from 10-12) and that they will send a specialty technician along with the old unit. Friday rolls around and it's 11:45 and they haven't showed up yet, so I call once again to see what's going on. First, the woman tells me that I'm on the list and they're coming. When I press her for more information and a definitive confirmation that my old unit will be delivered today, she tells me yes for sure. Then I ask what time they're coming, so she puts me on hold and calls. She then tells me THAT THEY'RE NOT DELIVERING IT AT ALL BECAUSE THE TECHNICIAN DIDN'T COME TO WORK THIS MORNING. This is AFTER she has spent 10 minutes telling me that they're coming and they'll be delivering it soon. If I had waited around and not pushed further, I would have waited the entire day for people to come that had already decided THAT MORNING that they weren't going to. I got no call, no warning, nothing. This is the most incompetent service I have ever received, please save yourself and don't do anything with them.

Please do not use this company. The worst... They set a time and date and then never show up. Their favorite line is that their tech is stuck in traffic or driving, so they can't answer their calls. Very frustrating I would not recommend using them even on the simplest job.

An absolutely amazing company I would recommend to anyone. They’ve done some great work at my Home. We had some things installed incorrectly when we first purchased that have always caused us problems. They explained the issues until we fully understood them. The team even gave us a few different solutions that would help moving forward. I felt that they gave us real solutions and didn’t just push for the most expensive job they could find. I Highly recommend Hitech Central Air Experts .

If I could give them zero stars I would.... This is the WORST company I have ever dealt with. I called them for a price quote for servicing of a PTAC heating/cooling system. I was quoted a price of $125 for cleaning and inspection of the unit. The repairman came, vacuumed out the unit and did an inspection. I was told that the fan motor was running very hot and needs to be replaced before it burns out. He took a few photos and said someone would order a new motor and contact me to set up time and day to do so. I get the bill, and its for $180 plus tax. He said that my unit was a "water based system" and its more expensive to service. I didn't know spraying and vacuuming heating coils would cost more because its a different type of unit. Less then 24hrs later, my PTAC unit shuts down completely and won't turn back on. I googled on how to reset it, still not working. I call and email them with no response (website states they are 24/7). Now I'm stuck with no heat a few hours before the worst snowstorm NYC has seen in years. Monday comes, I call again, they pick up and I explain what happened. Person on the phone says "I will call you back, let me get more information." I call them back after an hour, no answer. Finally after 6 hours of calling they pick up. Person says "I know your who you are and your situation, but I need to talk to your repairman and he won't be back till 7 PM. He said you might be interested in buying a brand new PTAC unit from us?" I couldn't believe it, after not answering multiple calls and emails, he tries to sell me on a brand new more expensive option. I asked him, no matter how late it is, just call me to confirm you spoke to him and that things are in the works of getting me a new motor. He said yes, I will contact you back. I never got a call and it's now been over a week with no heat in my apt. I understand that we had a snowstorm and that it's hard to get around and things may be delayed. I was more than willing to wait and work with these guys. I'm more than understanding and was willing to work with this company, but to not even return a phone call or reply to an email? It's like these guys don't want to make money. Don't get swindled my these guys.
