Divine Moving and Storage

Description of Work: The 3 man crew arrived at 8:30 AM for a 9:00 move. I had a great deal of difficulty communicating with the crew "lead" due to his heavy accent. They did a good job wrapping the furniture and seemed to be taking a great deal of care with it. However, after they left our building I learned from our doorman that the crew had folded our king size mattress in a U-shape and taped it that way, due to the difficulty of getting it out of the building through the stairway/service entrance. The doorman was very concerned about what he saw, and wanted me to know that he spoke to the movers about the way the mattress was taped, believing it probably damaged the springs. I was not at the storage unit when the moving crew arrived with our furniture so I don't know if the mattress was still taped that way when it arrived there. When the move was completed, a $20 bill was given to each of the crew for a tip. The crew "lead" said that it was a company expectation that the tip equal 20% of the move price! I later complained to the owner, David about the way the mattress was handled, and about being told that there was an expectation of a 20% tip. David was very responsive and apologized for the way the tip issue had been handled, and offered to credit me $60 for the tip, which I declined. He also offered to do whatever needed to be done to assess whether our mattress had been damaged, on his dime, including sending a crew to our storage unit to unpack the mattress and box springs and check it for damage. Because I would never let total strangers go to my storage unit unaccompanied, this offer is not all that helpful in the long run. It is an enormous inconvenience to have to go to the storage unit, and unpack it, just to try to assess whether our mattress was damaged, which will likely include having to purchase a tarp so that the boxsprings and mattress stay clean. I am appreciative that David offered to do whatever it takes to try to assess whether the mattress is in fact damaged, but who wants to have to go through this hassle? I have never had any mover fold and tape a mattress the way this company did, and the way they justified it was to tell me that Tempurpedic mattresses have to be folded like that for a move. Well, I don't have a Tempurpedic mattress!

Description of Work: We moved from one side of the building to the other side, from the 6th floor to the 5th floor. I mainly hired movers because I didn't want to ask my friends to help carry the large stuff. We have a very heavy sleeper sofa that doesn't fit in the elevator and has to be carried up the stairs(!).

Description of Work: This is my second move with this firm, even after using them in the past they exceeded all of my expectation! They were awesome! Nothing was broken thanks to their packing service, the movers packed and labeled everything for us (1 bedroom apt.).

Description of Work: They moved me from my old home in Chelsea two and a half miles to my new home, taking 4 hours to do so. They helped me pack up my belongings and moved all my furniture from my old apartment to my new one. All my items arrived safely when I reached my new home.

Description of Work: Divine moved me from a small one bedroom in Brooklyn Heights to Bay Ridge. Both were third floor walk-ups with narrow stairs. They did an excellent job; they were fast, careful, and nothing was lost or broken. They had to do some last minute packing for me as well (which I alerted them to the day before). The packing was done well.

Description of Work: They were awesome. They did a great job packing up any extra items we did not get a chance to finish packing. They were very careful with all of our items including a large plasma TV. They were quick, efficient and hard workers. They asked us where we wanted everything and basically arranged our big furniture exactly where we wanted. I would totally recommend them.
