We made two dates for provider to view and estimate the job. Both appointments were cancelled; the first supposedly for illness the second at the last minute citing conflicts. Provider was to contact me the following week to make a new date. When I did not hear from him, I texted him asking if he was still interested in the job. Got no response. I understand if he was too busy at the time or decided he might not be interested, but he should have communicated something. Would not want him to lost interest in the middle of my jog. Very non-professional.
Description of Work: Never showed for an appointment.

Fantastic! Peter and his crew were punctual, professional, friendly and hard-working.
Description of Work: I had a 2-room high cat walk installed which involved creating steps for egress and small doors to allow the cats to move from one room to another, and connecting with a walk-in closet. It is beautiful and incorporates the industrial aesthetic of my loft apartment.

This involved carpentry and creative remaking of radiator covers that were impeding flow of air to air conditioners. The crew of 5 were very professional, cleaned up extremely carefully, and were easy to deal with. I recommend them highly and would use them again for general handyman work.

Working with Peter was a pleasure. i appreciated how responsive and flexible he was in explaining what was needed and trying to accommodate my schedule. The estimate was sent in a timely manner and was thorough listing what had to be done. His team worked very efficiently and quickly. Peter was on site every day to check in, and when we started to run into issues getting access for one of the other apartments, he brought in two extra guys to get the job done faster. I would absolutely recommend him again and will be using him myself for a bathroom job later this year.
Description of Work: I reached out to Peter for assistance repairing damage from a broken water pipe: installing drywall, patching ceiling holes, painting and reinstalling carpeting in an adjacent hallway. Work was done in my apartment and the two apartments below me.

Peter and his crew came into my home to complete a storage room underneath my stairs. The remodeling they needed to complete consisted of cutting out a hole in an existing wall, as well as fitting a door onto the opening of the space. The carpentry involved was done skillfully, which included fitting and installing the door, working with drywall, plastering, and hardwood flooring installation. They also had to frame and custom-make a doorway. From start to finish, Peter and his crew were a pleasure to work with. Peter himself is affable, thoughtful, very likable, and most important, I found him trustworthy. Peter began the process by making a preliminary cut to make sure that he was equipped to complete the project. He was extremely thorough from the beginning. His two workmen that came to do the project were also extremely friendly, respectful of the fact that they were working in a home, and aware of the fact that there were small children in the home. Peter was on hand every day making sure the project went as scheduled. They cleaned up the space thoroughly and safely at the end of each work day. Chronos finished the project days before the time they designated they would be done. The project is extremely well-done and the space looks fantastic. I will definitely be working with Peter and Chronos Contracting in the future, and I recommend him and his team highly. The only downside is that after this review he may not have time to work with me any longer :) But he is worth the time and money.

Although I had to put off renovations to my apartment, Peter from Chronos came to my place and spent a lot of time going over my needs, talked me through his process, and wrote-up a detailed, fair and realistic estimate. I really appreciated his effort and when I can come back to the project I will be contacting him first.

Job went extremely well overall. Peter and his crew were able to do all the work agreed upon, and even uncovered some other problems that we had initially overlooked. He was very helpful in trying to find solutions to every problem, and was able to work within our budget. Everything was done on time, and was cleaned up afterwards. We will definitely be using him again in the future. He's been the 4th contractor we've used for our house, and he is the only one we've called back to do more projects.

Peter has done for us the first floor renovations a few years ago and we reached out to him to do our second floor renovations. We needed to paint the 2 bedrooms and hallway, remove 2 small closets from on of them and building a new one, refinishing the floor; installing new electrical fixtures and medicine cabinet in the bathroom, and replacing all doors including ones for the closet in the hallway. Peter gave us good ideas on what to do when he came over to discuss the project and take measurements. His quote was reasonable and did not include the materials, which we paid for separately. Peter started the job earlier than expected and finished it on time. He had to come just one time to wrap up a few details and did so within reasonable time. His crew left the house in good conditions at the end of each day and Peter communicated with us daily on the status of things, any questions he had and also was very responsive with any or our inquiries. He and his crew pay attention to detail and did a great job. He took responsibility when the mirror of the medicine cabinet was cracked during installation and replaced it without additional cost to us. How often can you say that of a contractor? We love Peter and we'll definitely use his services in the future and refer him to our friends.

While I initially thought the price was high to stuff a lot of plaster in the hole opening and smooth it out, I was wrong. Peter Demos, the owner, sent Vadim to do the repair and it took 6 visits over 3 days. Day 1 he screwed in a wire mesh for the first plastering with something called structolite, waited for it to dry, then came back later in the day for a next coat. Day 2 was more plastering with something called plaster meld and a fabric type mesh, again with wait time in between for drying. Day 3 was sanding, then priming with a stain block. I agreed to do the painting afterwards. Did I mention the corner was beveled with custom molding? The job looked like the original ceiling in my 1905 built home. Peter came by on day 1 and 3 and was constantly in touch with Vadim. He's a bit OCD about his work which is what you want in a contractor. All in all, I was totally satisfied with the work and I'd use Chronos for future projects.

We live in an 1880?s brownstone in Brooklyn. Our job was a little unique. We renovated a storage closet and small areaway, but also had many smaller-scale repairs (cracks in ceilings and walls, planing and repairing all 10 of our doors, making our built-in closet drawers function). After months of meeting with contractors and getting various quotes, we were distraught, and convinced that we?d never find someone we actually liked who we could afford. Chronos Contracting was the last quote appointment I?d set up. I can?t express how thankful I am that I held out and tried one last contractor before giving up. Peter was on-time, listened patiently as we walked through our house showing him all that needed to be done, and gave thoughtful suggestions as to how we could address some of the issues. He really seemed excited about our home, about how we could fix and restore things in a way that were true to the architecture of the house. We were in love with him, but were sure his quote would come in way beyond what we could afford. To our excitement and amazement, he gave us a very fair and reasonable quote. We booked him immediately. Peter is the kind of contractor we had dreamed of getting, but thought was a unicorn (Peter is indeed a unicorn, but that?s another story). He?s honest and hard-working, has integrity and pays attention to detail, and maybe most importantly, he has a wicked sense of humor. Peter was always available by phone (something that?s so rare these days), and kept great contact with us throughout the renovation. He came every morning, and if he had to leave during the day, he?d come back at day?s end to check up on the progress. He purchased all high-quality materials, never skimping to save a buck. With an old house, problems inevitably arise when you start tearing things apart. He handled these little surprises well, and adjusted the price fairly. When Peter?s highly skilled carpenter realized he couldn?t make our 130 year-old built-in closet drawers work smoothly, he suggested augmenting them by building brand new drawers, but keeping the original oak faces. Our closets look amazing, and now we have beautiful new drawers that smoothly glide on tracks. He always made sure everything was done right, and if it wasn?t, he?d see to it that it was corrected, or he?d re-do it himself. He worked tirelessly to make our renovation as stress-free as possible. I?m not saying it was totally stress-free, but Peter made it all o.k. and put a smile on my face every day. Peter is now stuck with us, as he?ll be our contractor for any future work done in our home.
Description of Work: Renovated closet & areaway, repaired & painted large cracks in 3 rooms, planed & stripped hardware on 10 doors to make them work smoothly, ran electrical line & installed washer & dryer, built new housing and drawers for 2 built-in closets.

I got several estimates before starting the work. While Peter's was not the lowest, unlike others, he was able to do all the work involved. The room was a shambles, needing a new floor, sections of plaster ceiling moldings replaced, electrical work, etc. The house is an old brownstone, so I got nervous when he warned me that he might find shaky or missing beams when he opened the floors or open gas lines when he went into the fixtures. Fortunately neither happened, but my confidence in Peter's honesty grew knowing that he could easily have lied. His workers arrived each morning on time, and Peter was insistent that they clean up at day's end. The job took longer than anticipated, but the quality of the work is excellent. He uses skilled craftsmen who were able to restore decorative plaster moldings, something I'd previously had difficulty finding at a price I could afford. The floor and baseboard installation, painting, skim coating, and electrical installations were done extremely well. Peter even fixed a sliding door that had come unhinged at no additional cost. In short, I would use him again and recommend him without reservation.

Peter and his team do excellent work, are honest and timely. They were able to update the electrical and plumbing throughout, completely renovate the kitchen and the bathroom, did extensive work on the plaster walls (which exceeded our expectations) and refinished the original floors. They worked hard to maintain many of the original details (picture moldings, ceiling moldings, radiators, and many small prewar details that we loved). For the areas that were too damaged to be repaired, Peter was able to match the moldings and repair work to fit the original look. We chose to design the kitchen and bathroom and source many of our own materials. Peter was helpful in referring us to good reliable and honest vendors and was a patient and agreeable collaborator as we coordinated delivery of materials, appliances and fixtures. Peter always made himself available to discuss the project and address any questions, comments or concerns we had; often walking us through and explaining some of the more challenging parts of the process. He was also conscientious of working neat, clean and respectfully within the guidelines and parameters set by the building. We will definitely hire Peter again someday.

I spoke to Peter Demos and explained the Scope of Work for my kitchen renovation and he said he would call me the next day with a time for the day he would visit but he did not call back. He text me to notify he was on vacation and overlooked my appointment. Since he has sent me a proposal with all the info. Peter did apologize for not notifying me he would be out of town. This was an all-around great experience. From the first emails and phone calls, Peter was very responsive and available to answer questions or provide information. He sent a detailed pricing breakdown beforehand, so I knew what his quote was based on - I'd say the cost was in the ballpark of what we were expecting for NYC commercial space. He was also reliable, polite and respectful of our office space. Throughout the job and afterward, Peter checked in to make sure everything was meeting our standards and let me know he'd be happy to address any concerns. They did great work and were fair and transparent about the entire process, even when the timeline got pushed back slightly. When there was a miscommunication on expectations for one part of the project, he brought his team back in and resolved the issue. Highly recommended!

Chrons Contracting was a pleasure to work with. Peter Demos did exactly what he said he would do, and charged even less then the estimate. The Company is very professional, and we didn't have to be involved in every small decision, but Peter always stayed in touch. The job went quickly, and both my husband and I are delighted with the work. It's nice to find such an honest contractor, and someone who is so easy to deal with.
Description of Work: They plastered, sanded and painted. The apartment needed several coats of paint. It hadn't been painted in a long time. They also caulked the bathtub, and applied silicone. The countertops were refinished. A door was replaced, and light fixtures were removed, and replaced. A new radiator cover was made, and installed. Peter dealt with the management office getting all the necessary papers. There were other small things that needed to be done to get the apartment ready to sell.

I am very happy that this Angie's Member is pleased with my work. We took a neglected studio apartment and brought it into a fresh & pleasant space to dwell in. We plastered and painted the entire apartment, Installed new light fixtures & outlets & refinished the countertops in the Kitchen. In addition I fabricated a custom radiator cover from solid poplar that was subsequently painted to match the moldings. I enjoyed working with this client, and I hope to do so again in the future.

They got a late start because one of the subcontractors' family member died after an initial delay. This delayed everything but now by much - just about a week. It's just hard to schedule things when you are counting on a timeline. But they made up for it by being very careful with my apartment building and my apartment. No damages were made and they took away all of the trash and were responsible about my privacy. I asked them not to eat in my apartment (to prevent attraction of roaches and rats, I keep my place very clean and didn't want anything sticky left behind). This was my biggest fear because once you get rats or roaches it's hard to get rid of them. But they were great and they strictly did not bring food into my apartment. Peter, the owner and director was good about communicating with me. That was important for me. Also, I wanted to use a certain brand of paint and he was open to that and also tried his best to accommodate me. Other professionals I spoke to were sometimes condescending and other times trying to convince me to use paints they recommend without first asking me why I wanted to use Yolo Paint. Peter was kind and mature enough to ask my why and I explained the company's environmental record, that it is made in the US and that they pay their workers a fair wage. While the work was being done Peter was careful to make sure I was updated about the progress, like I had asked. After the initial delay Peter worked hard to get a quality subcontractor replacement and got going on things. After everything was done Peter came back a few times to finish up some loose ends. The cabinets were not fixed correctly the first time but after a bit of time they were fixed. The paint job looks excellent and it was really a relief that it is all done, and looks and feels great.
Description of Work: They painted the interior of my entire 2 BR Park Slope Apt, except for the ceilings. They also were tasked to reinstall/readjust the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen. Lastly they sanded and refinished the wood floors for the whole apartment which is 948 sq feet.

Perfectly. Peter is a true professional, a magnificent contractor and an artist. He fretted over the tiniest details and always found a solution. Peter's team is great. They were completely respectful of me, my space and my belongings. And each of them went out of their way to befriend the building super, which made the whole process so much easier. Peter is licensed, insured and not above getting his hands dirty. In fact, he did the bulk of the work himself. And he totally stands by what he does. I had a slight problem with my closet doors swelling in the humidity and Peter was here in a flash to replane and restain, You would have to be crazy to not want to hire him..
Description of Work: I had a leaky pipe inside a wall that needed to be replaced. Peter Demos of Chronos Contracting tore down the wall, sealed the space, consulted with the plumber, rebuilt the wall, removed the damaged floor, built a new floor, built a new closet, changed all my interior doors, painted the walls, moved a bunch of electricity, stained the doors, installed new lighting fixtures, installed an access panel for snaking the pipe, kept my space spotless and managed to keep me smiling through the nightmare of renovation.

This would be my favorite client of all time. Her acerbic wit aside, she's a heart of gold personified. My first project for her was a bathroom remodel some years ago. Since then I've enjoyed working on a number of her projects. This specific project was spurred on by the fact that there was significant water damage in the rear of the apartment, due to a cracked drain pipe, as well as vapor coming in through the foundation wall. In addition her HVAC unit had been leaking, and ruined the floor in the front of the same room. We ripped out the wall and damaged flooring, and once the plumbing work was completed, applied a sealant on the foundation wall & insulated it. We installed a new plywood subfloor (as the old flooring was on some precarious runners) and then installed new unfinished white oak flooring. She took the opportunity to remodel two closets, as well as construct a new one, so the project included a bit of redesign as well. We proceeded to frame for the new closets, installed new baseboards & door casings. She chose stain-grade doors from Dykes lumber which came out nicely. We were also able to run some new lighting, as the room was cave-like with the pre-existing lighting. Ultimately, from the new hardwood flooring to the added closet space, several new stained oak doors to the final paint finish, we were able to create a completely new room for this client. I am happy she is pleased with the work, and always enjoy working with her.

I could not be more pleased with the work that Peter and his team did in my apartment. It was a transformation from a house to a home. The molding, cabinetry, radiator covers and paint job were top notch. Peter provided a very fair estimate from the start. He was very transparent with each step and wanted to ensure that I was pleased with the progress. He communicated every hiccup in the process (there was only 1 - some measuring issues in the closet causing an additional $300). Peter is a perfectionist and treats your apt/home as if its his own. He would push the workers to strive for perfection. I witnessed a do-over instructions - Peter would guide his workers to rectify any imperfections. After the work was completed I ran into another issue with the dry air in my apt. A few months later the wood & paint pulled back leaving cracks in the cabinets and molding. After a bit of communication and schedule juggling Peter returned with a worker and fixed all of the issues (for a reduced fee - to only cover the worker labor). I thought this was very fair since the issue was caused by the dry air in my apartment. Overall I am VERY PLEASED with the work Peter & his crew did in my apartment. I have already received estimates from Peter to do additional work in my Kitchen (and have receive 3 levels of very fair estimates from him). I am looking forward to working with Peter again. I have referred him to many friends and neighbors. I feel lucky to have found him.

Response from CHRONOS CONTRACTING
This was a project to transform an apartment from a bland developer's rehab, to a much warmer and personalized space. The apartment is in a typical Manhattan building that was converted from commercial to residential units. While the building itself has charm, and they did a good job in the common areas, they did not splurge on the apartments themselves. I initially met with the client, in order to ascertain what she was looking for. We soon came up with a plan to warm things up with new crown and base moldings throughout. In addition there were three closets that were completely under-utilized due to bad design. We soon realized that there was quite a bit of square footage lost behind the framing, so we raised the ceiling of each closet gaining close to 2 solid feet. This enabled us to create upper level storage cabinets for each closet. We fabricated custom doors for the upper levels, and installed good quality 80" doors for the lower closets. In addition we fabricated two differing styles of solid wood radiator covers for two separate rooms. I am very happy with the way they turned out. After painting the entirety of the apartment, it became a very different one from its original form. The nice thing is that even though we did not remodel the space via moving walls, et al, we were able to transform the space through some relatively basic modifications. I am very glad the client is happy with our work, and appreciate her review.

Upon contacting this company, I received a call back promptly, but instead of leaving their contact number for me to call back on my voicemail, they recited my number to call them back on. I understand that people make mistakes, but that made me a little leary from the get-go because they clearly weren't paying attention. As I had several contractors over for estimates, I had Chronos do the same. Mainly, my concern was soundproofing a bedroom ceiling with green glue and dry wall, and the quote was WAY over priced (by about $2500, which didn't include materials). I also know more than I led on, and I know to soundproof a ceiling, you don't need to repaint the entire bedroom (just touch ups around trim) and this was a 2 man job max, not a whole team of people. I was also told this would take about a week, when this can be done in two 4-hr days or less. The guy who gave the estimate seemed like he would do a very good job, so if $$ is not a factor and extra work that isn't necessary (and paying for extra workers) doesn't bother you, then I don't think you'd have a problem with this company. Overall, I won't hire them or recommend to a friend because I felt like they were taking advantage of the situation to make more money than reasonable. Here's my update: After reading the response back from this company, I can say more strongly than ever to SKIP THEM. Stereotyping me as "young and looking for a cheap quote" could not be more unprofessional. Considering I'm almost 30 years old, perhaps they were a bit mislead by my "appearance". With this said, yes, I asked them to take a look at several areas of my home that I wanted work done on in the future, separate from the soundproofed ceiling. I asked for additional information for both bedrooms, but only needed one done immediately. Again, he told me that there was no way to soundproof the ceilings without painting the entire bedroom OR installing crown moldings. A simple touch up around the top of the ceiling with paint would be perfectly fine without the additional cost of repainting the entire room or installing crown moldings. He was actually very pushy about this, which is why I simply suggested that I would do the touch ups myself. I would also like to mention that although he was here for about 45 minutes, he was also more than 30 minutes late. Chronos, your response is rude, and perhaps you would do better in future by not stereotyping young women as cheap and unknowledgeable.

I gave a free estimate to this member which included almost an hour of my time, plus travel. She had asked for a quote on soundproofing both her Bedroom ceiling as well as the ceiling in her Office. I found out when I arrived that she is a very young person who's renting, and of course, was hoping for a low quote. I explained my price is the same for people who own or rent, as the work involved is the same. I sent her a quote within a day and never heard back from her. I understand when people choose a different company based on price, but I see it as unfortunate when they feel that they need to cast aspersions. This member claims that the project involved only her bedroom ceiling, but in reality the quote was for two separate rooms. She states that the work involved would only take two single four-hour days. The work involved applying Greenglue and installing 5/8" sheetrock to two separate ceilings, after moving furniture and protecting the floors. In addition we were to tape, plaster, sand and prime the new surfaces. Proper taping & plaster work alone can take more than two days based on drying times. Unless one is looking to pay a Handyman to do a slap-up job, things take a certain amount of time. In addition she stated I was being misleading by saying someone would need to paint the walls after taping and plastering. Since one must apply joint compound to both the walls & ceiling when one is applying joint tape to each corner, it's necessary to paint said walls unless you don't care how things appear. Her Handyman may have done things differently, but you really need to paint a wall that has new plaster on it. The strange thing is that I gave her an add-on price for installing picture rail molding near the ceiling, as this would save her from having to paint the entirety of each wall, and she seemed interested. She also clearly said that she would do all of the painting on her own, so there was never any pressure on her to pay me for that anyway. She also states that my quote did not include materials. It did include materials, excluding the door seal kit she wanted me to install to soundproof her door. As she said she had purchased it online, I did not include that in the price. She also wanted vinyl sheeting to be installed on that door, which I also did not include, as I asked her to order it from the same online outfit. Again, I understand if this member chose to pay for a different level of work than I produce. I do disagree with the claims made and the tenor of her review.

I have done a number of projects for this family. They are always a pleasure to work for, and while very easy going, highly knowledgeable and very specific about what they want. We've worked on their exposed brick, ultimately giving a sealer to each wall. There's been a good deal of painting and plasterwork. In addition, exterior waterproofing, and interior carpentry. I hope to continue doing projects for them in the future.
