Peter was instantly responsive, punctual, fair and extremely professional. He made sure the job was correct and, due to circumstances beyond either of our control (a defect in the Hunter fan mechanism), came back a second time at no extra charge. I would give Chronos Contracting the highest recommendation possible, and we plan on using them again in the future.

Peter was extraordinarily responsive from the time we contacted him for a quote until he handed us back the keys after the job had been completed. He could always be reached either by phone or e-mail and would respond promptly. In addition, Peter was punctual. He provided us with professional advise on all aspects of the work when we requested such advise and even when he felt we might be overlooking something. We are also very satisfied with the quality of his work. Furthermore, Peter properly covered the areas where he was working to avoid any damage and cleaned up after every working day. Finally, Peter was asked to carry out his work while another contractor, Nadoban Painting, was painting the walls, ceilings and doors of both floors of the apartment. As a former project manager in the textile industry, I have seen many examples of how contractors can make life difficult for each other, but these two contractors cooperated in an exemplary fashion.
Description of Work: The work consisted of (1) electrical (re-)wiring of five ceiling fans, of which three on existing lighting locations and two on new locations (opening up walls and ceiling, (re)wiring) and subsequently closing walls and ceilings), including advising on the choice of ceiling fans and installing the ceiling fans, (2) repairing part of a wood floor, (3) closing holes in sheetrock wall left by speakers and installing new speakers in existing holes in walls and (4) installing curtain rods.

I manage a small apartment building in the East Village One of my tenants had a large (approximately 3' X 3") hole in her hall ceiling where a small leak in the building roof had gradually weakened the plaster/drywall causing it to collapse. It was a big mess, also the job was fairly difficult because the ceiling is quite high and the hallway is very narrow. We were very happy with the quality of the work, and the speed with which Chronos got it done.We thought the price was fair, and the job still looks good over a year later.
Description of Work: Repair of large hole in ceiling---cut and installed drywall, matched color, primed and painted.

I found Peter years ago on a flyer that I found on the street. As a landolord it took me a long time to find a good an relaible electrician. For the last 6 years all the time I am having any electrical problem he solves it right away, and always gives me good advise.
Description of Work: He changed a high power electrical switch on my big AC on the roof. After that I needed to upgrade the whole elctrical system of my old brownstone and he helped me figure out how to do it and found me the certfied electrician to do it.

I called Peter for an estimate and we came to the agreement that I would provide the material (tiles, counter tops, sink, focets etc.) Only in one instance he cut a counter top with the wrong dimension, but after telling me, he provided immediately the same kind of top and finished the job perfectly in time as noting had happened.
Description of Work: Peter did superjob in renovating two of my unit in my town house. Renovated 2 kitchen and one bathroom. His craftmanship is of extreme quality and he performed the job in time and every detail was done with perfection. He has also given good suggestions in solving problems and performing the solution. Delivered all he jobs in time and always left the place clean and neat. I would highly recommend him for any kind of size renovations. Livia Monaco ( owner of a brownstone on the UWS in NY)

Peter is neat, fast, and efficient. He reponded to our questions (we have had bad contractor experiences in the past and were very nervous) with very honest answers and reassurance. He was prompt and works full days (which is probably why he can accomplish jobs quickly). His contract wording is very specific and I greatly appreciated that. He left our kitchen clean and neat- without a trace that he was ever there.
Description of Work: Peter of Chronos Contracting gave us a free estimate and was able to start within 10 days. He sanded, primed, and painted (2 coats) all of our kitchen cabinets in addition to repairing and painting our kitchen walls and ceiling.

The member & her husband were very good to work with. They new what they wanted & were able to be clear in communicating. The cabinets were dark & made their galley-style Kitchen look smaller. A lighter color was chosen transforming the Kitchen into a new space. Working with this couple was a good experience and I was happy to be of help in their home.

Peter came over to evaluate the various jobs I had and said he would email me an estimate. It's been over a week and I never heard from him again. Also, when he was at my apartment, he detached a sprinkler head off from my ceiling to look at what was inside the ceiling and broke the sprinkler head. He only mentioned that breaking it would be a possibility WHILE he was removing it (and didn't warn me beforehand). Very disappointed at overall experience.

Response from CHRONOS CONTRACTING
I want to respond to both the factual as well as untrue aspects of this report. It is true that I did not offer this member a quote within the seven days from my visit for a free estimate. This was due to a feeling that I got from this member that she wasn't so interested in using me for the project. If this was a projection on my part, then I apologize. I did spend an hour of my time with the prospective client, so I can't be accused of being cheap with my time. The idea of spending another hour of my time scribing a detailed estimate for someone who projected a (seeming) disinterest, seemed a bit much given my busy schedule. Again if this was a misinterpretation on my part I apologize. Regarding the untrue aspect of this report- I am accused of breaking a sprinkler head on the premises. If this did happen there would have been quite a flood. It did not happen as such and thus should be removed. I did, on the other hand, break the cover plate to the sprinkler head, and for this I definitely apologized for and still do. It was a mistake on my part. I should have warned the member beforehand that some of these cover plates are badly manufactured and some of them break when one tries to remove them. This is a problem in that they are made to be removed for inspection & repairs, et al. As the member took my apology she stated that her maintenance person would fix the cover plate and we left it at that. My apologies seemed enough at the time, and I did leave the apartment with a friendly goodbye. I guess that is why I was surprised to see the above report seven days after the initial estimate. I assumed we there was not an interest in receiving a quote from this member. I want to make clear that this "report" was made by someone for whom I gave a free estimate, not for someone I started and/or completed a job for. All of the other reports for my business on this site are for jobs completed and done with care. My reports speak for themselves and I hope these outweigh the mistake I made with this member's sprinkler cover and her feeling that her time was wasted over an estimate.

From providing the estimate to completion of the job, Peter and his team couldn?t have been more courteous and professional. Peter thoroughly explained the process and provided us with the best options to achieve our desired results while clearly answering any and all questions. In the morning, he arrived promptly and at the close of each day the workspace was cleaned so as not to impose an inconvenience on our daily life. Having met with several contractors, we can confirm that Peter?s costs are in line with the market, while the quality of work is top notch. We can?t express enough, how pleased we were with the finished product. In short, Chronos Contracting is efficient, cost competitive and goes above and beyond what is promised while completing the job at the highest level of quality. We highly recommend Peter Demos and Chronos Contracting for any home improvement construction needs.
Description of Work: We hired Peter Demos and Chronos Contracting to run the electrical wiring and install a series of pendant lighting in our child’s room, a dining room chandelier and hanging pendants over a kitchen island. The work included re-sheetrocking and plastering all necessary holes and a repainting of walls.

The job went smoothly. Peter suggested where the extra lights could go ( the hallway is long, and straight, but originally included a curved closet which we removed at some point after the original recessed lgihts were installed. THis created an odd dark area. He made good suggestions and seemed to understand what I wanted, and where the lights could go. He was clear, explained what he would do, what problems he was concerned with encountering, and what he might have to do if they occurred.
Description of Work: Peter rewired one recessed light and added three new recessed lights in the hallway which required pulling existing cabling as well as creating new light sources. He broke through the ceiling in order to add the fixtures and did a good job patching the plaster after the lights were installed.

Except for a small patch of floor which needed to be redone (because the replacement planks were different wood) it went extremely smoothly. The workers were neat, set up good shields between the room being refinished and the adjacent rooms, and took care to clean up thoroughly. The contractor was responsive to our concerns about the small patch that did not look good, and made sure to fix it.
Description of Work: The company sanded, repaired and refinished my dining room floor. It was at least 100 year old floors, and had not been taken care of. They did a careful job of refinishing and staining the floor to match the adjacent rooms.

Response from CHRONOS CONTRACTING
The client has a very old floor in her dining room and was hoping to match the stain in the rest of the apartment's flooring. In addition, there was an area in the floor that was of a more recent installation, probably due to water damage in the distant past. We were able to stain both the old & newer wood flooring in order to match the tone of the rest of the apartment's flooring. The process took some extra time, but came out looking good and we were proud of the results. Sanded, stained, sealed & with polyurethane applied we were able to give her the look of a new floor whilst retaining the character of the flooring's age. Ofttimes older wood is far better than new wood, as deforestation has taken a toll on quality in more than one sense of the word.

Peter was very professional in doing the estimate, and timely. We started within a few days of agreeing on the scope of project. He helped me choose the exact fixtures and switches that I'd be happy with, and was knowledgeable on their specs and keeping with building code. He and his crew were clean - put down construction paper and kept their tools in their own corner, covered them every night. Peter asks very pointed questions to make sure you're happy with the result and know what's involved.

I had to have my shower plumbing fixed due to a leak into my downstairs neighbor's bathroom. The plumbers were not general contractors, so I was left with a big hole in the shower wall covered by a garbage bag and duct tape. I got Chronos Contracting through Angie's list, and Peter responded quickly as far as scheduling the estimate and the repair. The job was a relatively small one, although it did involve three separate visits, for replacing the cement board and tiles, putting in the grout, and a final check a few days later (forgive me for not remembering the details of the last part). I was very pleased with the final product, and very pleased with Peter. He was punctual, professional and thorough.

Excellent job. Had to work within the constraints of an old house and a co-op, and not all materials being there in a timely fashion. Respect for the architectural integrity of an older home and thorough knowledge of trade, plus creative flare. Peter really saved the day. The pipes had rotted and burst during the dishwasher installation. We were leaking on our downstairs neighbors. Everything was fixed within a day. Great job. Helped pick out colors and types of paint, all turned out to be great choices, wonderful attention to detail. We have an older home (end of 19th century brownstone), so there are all kinds of issues. All services were performed impeccably, and the effort was made way above and beyond the call of duty, like working with a chandelier chain that didn't exactly fit, or figuring out how to fix the exhaust hood light of a model that wasn't manufactured any longer, so no possibility of getting the parts. Quality and attention to detail is impeccable. Went above and beyond in accommodating us, for example finding a substitute part to replace the light in the hood which was no longer being manufactured (worth it, looks great now).
Description of Work: Painting: living room, dining room, bathroom, parts of kitchen; kitchen: plumbing-replacement of pipes, replaced bulb socket in the hood, installed backsplash, refinished floor, installed faucet, installed under-cabinet lights; refinished wainscoting in the bathroom & fixed bathroom ceiling; installed new fireplace tiles; restored crumbling, cracked walls and ceiling, installed a chandelier in the dining room

The entire process went very well. We were very pleased with Peter's professionalism and punctuality. Peter was very prompt each day and, most importantly, finished the work in a timely fashion. He pays great attention to detail and also brings an aesthetic view to the work. My wife and I are very picky and extremely detail oriented and we thought Peter met our every expectation - we would highly recommend Peter to anyone who needs general contracting work done. Excellent! Would definitely use Peter again.
Description of Work: The contractor built a custom closet for us in our den, including the installation of a door frame, a door - which he stained and finished, and the installation of shelves, electrical fixtures and a light switch. he contractor also painted the interior of the closet and in order to complete the work needed to plaster and drywall the existing walls. It went really well, just as we had hoped and expected. We left keys for him. Peter and crew came and worked all day while we were out, then tidied up and cleaned each evening by 6:00 pm so that when my daughter and I came home, it didn't interfere with our normal evening schedule. They were very accommodating and easygoing. They did the project in a timely manner and well done. After the project was completed, they took away all debris and leftover sheet rock and other stuff used during construction.

We are happy with the results. Things went quite smoothly. I felt confident that things would get done properly and well with Peter personally working on the job everyday. We had frequent consultations on how things would be done, i.e. where the exposed conduit would run on the ceiling to a lighting fixture (we don't have dropped ceilings so everything had to be surface mounted on the underside of the structural slab). The job took a bit longer than expected, mainly due to the paint being hard to work with - I specified Benjamin Moore Eco Spec which apparently was 'like painting with water'. Peter didn't have too much experience working with this type of paint beforehand. The existing conditions such as non-straight corners appeared to be challenging. We also added on a few things to the contract, which Peter quoted on separately. Peter took the time to make sure that everything was done to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Painting of entire apartment in Benjamin Moore Eco Spec, including ceilings. Note that cost is for whole job including substantial electrical work and sheetrock work (for areas cut out due to electrical work). Sheetrocking of areas on walls cut out due to electrical work. Created a niche in a wall which was discovered to be hollow (deep enough for a bookcase). Note that cost is for whole job including electrical work and painting of entire apartment.Numerous new electrical outlets throughout home (condo), as well as new cable/telephone outlet, lighting including a custom fixture, light/fan switches, ceiling fans. Note that cost is for whole job including Sheetrock (for areas cut out due to electrical work) and painting of entire apartment.

Chronos Contracting was great. Professional, punctual, clean, and we're very pleased with their work. I'd hire them again for any additional work we do on our apartment.
Description of Work: Peter and his team prepped our closets for some custom closet work we were having done by another company, and separately - they hung up a pendant lamp in our kitchen. They gutted our closets, sanded them down, and then painted the insides. The closets were in perfect shape when they finished. Then, they beautifully hung an awkwardly shaped pendant lamp in our kitchen.

I WAS ABLE TO POUR A NEW SLAB & INSTALL THE TILE WITHIN THE TIME ALLOTTED, FORTUNATELY. I'M GLAD TO HAVE WORKED FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY AND HOPE TO DO SO AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.
