Steve was very responsiveness to inquiry, in providing estimate, providing insurance documents and making time to fit job within our time frame. He showed up on time and finished the job within the time frame he estimated. He was careful, neat and a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend him.

Friends referred us to Steve Bakur. The work he did for them looked great, and we called him. Steve was on time for every meeting. He gave us a fair price for prepping and painting the entire apartment, and was able to schedule the work to fit our schedule. The prep work included some water damage from above, and around windows and AC sleeves, and some settlement cracks here and there, and his price included that work. We had a fairly serious problem with a plaster ceiling detaching from the wire mesh lath, and Steve referred us to a general contractor who, in turn, gave us a fair price for that work. Steve coordinated the work and access to the apartment for the GC, and we didn't get any panicked calls, which is how it should be! Steve's work was clean and neat and really made the apartment shine! I'd hire Steve again in a heartbeat.

Steve is an excellent plasterer and painter. We had a few areas that were damaged by a roof leak and he made everything look good as new. After plastering he repainted the apartment ceiling, one wall and the bathroom. There was a bit of dust and sink cleanup to do after he left, but we were well pleased with his overall result. We look forward to working with him again.

First off, Steven was super responsive, coming over to give me an estimate same day. He did a great job, going beyond my expectations. He payed extra attention to little details that would have gone unnoticed by me. He was unhappy with the state of my ceiling and added an extra coat of paint, gratis, which really did the trick - it looks great now. Having My walk-in closet which was in a state of disrepair looks gorgeous now. He also did most the furniture moving which would have been difficult for me, and was generous with advice which I really appreciated. Being unhappy with my choice of color in the alcove, Steven repainted it for me. I feel like I'm living in a new apartment. My grumpy old dog who doesn't really like anyone, including me, has also chosen Steven as his new best friend, so yes, I would hire him again...

Steve was very responsive - the first one to respond to our request for a quote among 5 companies we contacted. Cost of service was competitive, but what impressed me most was his responsiveness because I had a very limited time frame. Steven finished the work within the time frame he promised and kept us informed of everything. I can't say enough good things about the quality of Steve's work. Considering the bad experiences we've had with different contractors, I highly recommend Steve for quality of service.

I contacted Steven approximately one month prior to the date I needed the painting completed for my midtown condominium. Steven responded to my phone call promptly and professionally and offered to complete an onsite estimate. The estimate took place almost immediately. Steven gave me a thorough verbal description of the work that needed to be completed (painting and some small repair) and followed with a written estimate. I had gotten two other estimates. Steven's price was mid range. I was very impressed with his personable and professional demeanor and so we set a date to complete the job. Steven was accommodating with the date I needed. I was reassured when he dutifully touched base one week before the date for the job and also the day before the work was to be completed. Steven provided the paint, he arrived on time. Steven and his associate were very amiable, they carefully taped everywhere and certainly worked hard as there were some hard to reach areas. The end result was above expectation. However, after a few days I did notice some very minor areas that needed attention. I called Steven, he immediately responded and offered to come over to address my concerns. He was very professional. He gave consultative advice and was very dilligent in documenting what we wanted done. We did not use him because we felt the price was a bit high, but we appreciated his professionalism and prompt response.

Steven exceeded all of my expectations. He was available for an estimate on the same day that I called him. When he arrived, he assessed the condition of the room, recommended the color that would match the rest of the apartment, and offered us a choice of two dates for him to do the work. He gave us what I thought to be a fair estimate and agreed to have him to the job the next day. He showed up the next day with his own equipment and completed the job within the estimated time frame. His workmanship was outstanding; smooth, no brush strokes, no "holidays" (missed areas). He worked around the woodwork and light fixtures without leaving any smudges of paint. His clean-up was impeccable; nothing left behind except a perfectly painted room. I would recommend him without reservation for people who have high standards.

The job went very smoothly! As many others before me have commented, Steve is very professional, reasonably priced, and reliable. He also does nice work! :) My husband and I would absolutely recommend him to others. We have an approx. 600 sq ft apartment in a pre-war building. We needed some repair work done to the plaster in a few locations on the walls and ceiling and then a complete paint job of the whole apartment. Steve is a sole proprietor so he does all the work himself. He is neat and clean. Started and finished the job when he said he would. Original quote was given to us last March but we had to delay the work for 6 months for various reasons of our own. Steve kept the quote the same. He's a good guy and easy to work with. What's not to like about Steven Bakur and the excellent work he does? This is our second time we have used his services and all our requirements were met and more. Steve was very professional. He promptly returned my initial call to get a quote and showed up on time to check the property and give me an estimate. His cost and time estimates for the project were very reliable. He did a great job painting our apartment and finished the job on time allowing us to move in as scheduled. Steve was great. He showed up when he said he would. He began the work on schedule and kept at it on consecutive days until it was finished. He helped us choose colors and had good ideas. He provided the paint and all supplies and had no trouble giving our coop managing agent the needed insurance information. Steve's work is impeccable. He really cares about quality. He works efficiently but takes the time to do an excellent job. There were no problems with messiness; he kept all the areas very clean. The two bathrooms required lots of scraping down and all the work was done well. After Steve finished, we had carpeting installed in the bedroom and Steve was terrific about coming back and doing some touch up work around the baseboards (at no extra charge) for the extremely minor damage to the paint job caused by the carpet installation. We will definitely be hiring Steve again in the near future to paint our living room and hallways.

From start to finish Steven was a pleasure to work with. He communicated quickly both via phone and email. He came over a few weeks before the job to do a walk-through and was very professional and honest. I felt like the price was decent relative to the amount of detail we were asking him to do. Steven was a pleasure to work with during our project. We were redoing all our floors at the same time, so painting of the apartment had to be done in two shifts. Steven was able to accommodate us which we truly appreciated, and was also happy to redo certain areas or do touch-ups which were needed along the way. No arguments, no resistance, and no issue with any areas which we felt needed special care or more attention.

We are very happy with Steven's work on our bathroom. Our bathroom was a mess - we had about 5 layers of peeling paint and he came in, scraped the paint down, plastered the ceiling over and painted. His pricing was also very reasonable for the quality of the work - we had three estimates and wound up going with Steven. I would use certainly use him again.
