We were moving across the country and I have two kids that were under two at the time. My wife was insistent that we hire a baby proffer, as I would not have the time to get the house ready for the kids with the quick move. She set up the appointment the guy showed up and I asked him some questions but he clearly did not want to talk. He was busy running around the house counting up all the outlets and cabinets. I asked him why he was looking at the outlets, and he said to put protective baby plates over them. I told him that the house had been renovated and the outlets were the new tamper resistant ones. He did not seem to know anything about it, and just shrugged it off. Just by looking at the outlets you can tell the difference between the standard ones and the tamper proof ones, and he had already gone through the whole house looking at about 50 outlets. That should have been a huge red flag. After he finished going through the house he said that there was a $50 consultation fee. When I indicated I was unaware of this he made a snide comment about the wives never remember. My wife had set this up, and I just paid him to be done with it. Honestly, I kind of get the consolation fee. I could see an expert coming in and giving you all these recommendations, and then you could just go out and install the stuff yourself, but this guy did not do that, he gave me no advice even when I asked him repeatedly. I did not like him right off the bat, but I did not have the time to get someone else to look at the house so we went through with it?.bad decision. Within six month everything he had put up was falling off. I had to repair or replace everything he installed. The safety gates on the stairs were not anchored properly and ripped off the wall. We had a set of basement stairs that went down off the backyard, so we asked him to put up a gate so the kids could not fall down. He ran a screw right through my brand new beautiful stone stairs (even though there was a dozen other way he could have attached the gate) and never asked if it was acceptable to destroy my stairs. He installed a small gate and fence outside so the kids could not run out of the yard. That gate was designed to only be installed indoors, within 6 month it had completely fallen apart. This guy in the end did far more damage to my house then good. I would absolutely not hire this guy to do anything.
Description of Work: He installed some safety gates on the stairs. He installed a fence and gate outside to block the kids from getting out into the street. He installed some safety latches on cabinets and some other odds and ends.

Description of Work: We contacted James to give us an estimate, He was featured on several tv talk shows. After failing to call back several times he finally called and made an appointment. We figured he was very busy because everyone must use him. Anyway, he came over and spent 10 minutes discussing what we could do. When he was finished he asked us for $50.00 to pay for him to come out and give an estimate. I told him that we were not aware of an estimate fee. I suggested he work up a written estimate while he was there and he said, oh well i have other appointments so Ill get back to you in a couple of days. I said well I cannot give you $50.00 without receiving and estimate. BEWARE! He is a CON-ARTIST! He makes 10 appointments a day and collects $500 for a day of giving estimates. I'm sure his prices are higher than others and then he does not have to do any work. Go to his website there is no mention of an estimate fee. Also he has no pictures of his work or real references, only business partners. The reason for my anger is because when we refused to give $50.00 he started to berate my wife and I and then started to insult us because we wouldn't give him the $50.00. What ever you do do not call this company!!!
