I am a costume designer. Over the years I have collected quite a bit of inventory and it had gotten to the point that I found it difficult to find certain fabrics within my stock. I reached out to Donna and she created a system of cataloging, 242 types of fabric. This included measuring, identifying fiber, swatching and the end result is a catalog that correlated to a bin the fabric was being held in at my storage. My shelves are organized. My fabrics are protected, and I could not have done it without her. She understood the tools that were necessary to make it happen and she completed the process in a timely fashion. I highly recommend Donna and cannot wait to hire her again-she is the real deal. I never thought I would come across anyone who has a passion for decluttering, she’s kind, calm and possesses a joyful spirit. I am thrilled with the results and highly recommend her!

Donna is amazing and I can’t recommend her highly enough. She worked with my son to make his small Brooklyn bedroom livable and did a fabulous job. It went from chaos to organized and the space is now lovely and relaxing to be in. Most importantly she spends time learning about how the space will be used and how her clients operate so she can design a system that will be easy to maintain. It is life changing! Working with Donna to remake his space lifted a huge weight off of his shoulders – he reported ‘being on cloud 9!” If you are thinking about this kind of service, hire Donna immediately!
Description of Work: Remade a small Brooklyn apartment to make it functional and a nice place to be. Donna hung curtains, had great ideas for organizing and how to keep it organized going forward, helped with storing musical instruments, etc. Rates are vey reasonable.

It was the BEST moving/setting up experience I've ever had ( and I move a lot). I will never move again without Donna! I was relocating back to NYC, found an apt earlier than I expected and could not be there for the move-in. Luckily, a friend referred me to Donna. When I asked if she could meet the movers at my apt and place my furniture to match the space...her next question was "would you like me to unpack your boxes as well?" After a few minutes of explaining how she would approach the move I knew she was the right person. I couldn't believe someone could do this without me being there and also couldn't believe I had the courage to let someone take charge of my belongings. I was swamped at work so the only directive I gave her was make it beautiful and inviting. She called a week before move-in to confirm management co requirements, obtain super's contact info etc. Then again on moving day called to see if I wanted to keep a few select items that she felt no longer had use in the space. She called at the end of the day to say mission accomplished. I asked her not to send any photos so I could feel the total impact when I saw my apt for the first time. On New Year's Eve I grabbed the keys from the Super and walked into a FABULOUS beautiful space! It was everything I had hoped for. The furniture was placed exactly where it should be, taking advantage of the light and showcasing the character of the apt. No detail was overlooked. Potted plants were tastefully sprinkled throughout the apt, my books were carefully arranged by categories, the kitchen shelves were arranged to look like a Crate and Barrel ad, my boots neatly lined along the bottom of the closet, purses hung on closet hooks, toiletries neatly arranged in smart containers, every drawer had a function and was efficiently organized. Did I mention my frig was stocked with water, milk ,eggs, fruit, bread, butter and chocolate? Truly! Instead of being overwhelmed by a room full of boxes and weeks of getting organized....I walked into this amazing space, filled with things I love, sat on my sofa staring out the window sipping on a glass of champagne on New Year's Eve. I will never move and unpack myself again :) I hope you won't either. It was worth every penny!

great! Everybody knows that moving your home, after a certain amount of acquisition of posessions, is traumatizing and an overwhelming ordeal. When my wife and I, for a variety of reasons, decided to join the exodus of interesting Manhattanites to Brooklyn after 30 years in the same Manhattan spacious apartment, which had been an excellent home for us until then, quite frankly I couldn’t imagine how we were ever going to accomplish the move. But I knew that lots of people had managed similar moves before and thus we should be able to, as well. However, as the moving date approached, I knew we weren’t preparing and getting organized anywhere near enough and I was feeling more overwhelmed than ever. We had a lot of things, and city apartments, even decent-sized ones, do not have close to the extra space that a free-standing house with a basement and a garage has. My wife is a very productive and capable person, but I knew I could only lean on her so much, and she herself, even making her best efforts (while working), wasn’t “plunging in” as much as was going to be needed. So, I broke down and accepted an expense that an affluent friend had indulged in and I had sworn to myself that I wouldn’t indulge in (partly because I didn’t know where the money would come from) — I hired a woman named Donna Klimek (company name: Declutter 123) to help us handle at least the first stages of the project, and wound up keeping her on to provide help when needed for all stages of the project, and I never regretted the decision or cost for a moment. Donna is no-nonsense, machine-like physical worker, while itv the same time being warm and nurturing, and understanding what you’re going through, and she guides you through the process. She is very experienced regarding what to expect when moving and very organized, and knows how things should be done (down to the smallest but still important details, such as detailed labelling of boxes, predicting how long you will need to be able to function without access to anything that goes into a movers’ truck), supervising the oft-times difficult or uncaring movers, and dealing constructively with the unexpected bumps in the road that inevitably pop up. Importantly, she keeps the process moving along efficiently and keeps it on course until it gets done, all with a warm and pleasing manner. And she’s good company to go through an ordeal with (most people aren’t), a pleasure to have around, and all importantly, she keeps going and keeps you going when you’re ready to collapse and accept for the next several months getting only 80% to the finish line, rather than the desired 100%. She is consistently cheerful and motivated, and she motivates you to keep going (often simply by taking on more of the necessary work and thereby making it easier for you to continue in some diminished fashion, instead of quitting entirely, which is what you desperately want to do). In short, Donna is a gem who is worth every penny you spend on her. You will get you full money’s worth and more. I know most of us have financial challenges and instinctively this cost seems indulgent, but of the various things you spend money on, this will be some of the best-spent money ever. We are now beginning to settle into and function in our new home, and I really don’t think we could have gotten to this point for at least another 4 - 6 months of chaos and hellish living conditions had it not been for Donna. Motivated, pleasant hard workers like Donna are hard to find, and if you have a substantial challenging move coming up, I highly recommend that you bite the bullet and spend the extra money to hire Donna. I guarantee you won’t regret it.

Donna is fantastic! She is a joy to work with. She completely understands how to strike the perfect balance between your pace as her client and her position as a professional. She is very down to earth, hard working, reliable and realistic about the task at hand. I was completely impressed and surprised with her impact and never realized my home could look so desirable. The good news is that our apartment successfully sold (quickly in a challenging market) with pics appearing in the On the Market section of the NYT. Along with our amazing broker, I fully credit Donna's expertise and guidance as being key reasons we were successful in such a short amount of time. I followed her every word and really appreciated how she approached staging our apartment in an easy and very economical way. This was crucial for us as we continued to live in our home with two small children throughout the sale process. As always she worked from the time she walked in the door until she finished ahead of schedule, getting more done than I would have thought possible. Donna was awesome. there was a lot of junk to go through. I pointed she bagged. If there was a question about an object, she was there and helped. i cannot say enough on what she and how much help and guidance she gave me. At the end, the house felt lighter. She has good ideas and resources no hoe to arrange your closets. I would hire her again and highly recommend her for hire. She was a godsend.

Donna is simply amazing. I hired her years ago to help me put my apt back together after a botched paint job and she worked an absolute miracle in the space. She truly helped transform it. Recently, I called her again to help me as I was moving following a divorce. She is simultaneously so patient and kind and yet firm. ( Marie Kondo has nothing on Donna!) She was the first person I thought to call and was the only person for the job. Her ability to methodically eliminate clutter and push you to see the way through what can be overwhelming is nothing short of miraculous! I wanted to sell my apartment and Donna was recommended by my broker. I had such a mess of clothing and odds and ends it was difficult for me to walk thru my apartment. Donna came in and was very focused. She made it very simple for me to make decisions - Do I need it, do I love it and do I use it .- She arranged my clothing, shoes and bags, my bedroom, the whole apartment. She knew exactly what needed to be done throughout the apartment. Now everything has a place so it is easy for me to find things and then put them away. After it was done I had such a feeling of freedom. It looked beautiful and I was able to breath and walk tall. P.S. My apartment went into contract 2 weeks later. Thank you Donna for helping me get through this difficult period.

Donna was terrific. My closets look better than they ever have AND I can actually find things easily. Her ideas for organizing my clothes were ingenious in the way she sorted a variety of clothes by type and season so I am not fussing with a winter jacket when I am looking for a summer one. She worked hard the entire time she was here, never taking a break, never even sitting down for a moment. She also helped me see that I was hanging on to things I never use which could be donated to others who would like them. From chaos in the closets she brought form, structure, clarity and even beauty. Fabulous!

Donna was amazing. Over a period of months she helped us leave our apartment of 30 years and get settled into our home outside the city. Donna helped us make painful decisions about what to leave behind and she made it much easier than we imagined. She was meticulous about communicating with the movers, about clearing out what we did not take and left in the apartment once we were gone. Donna handled donations, receipts, paperwork and some pretty intense schlepping. We have used Donna since 2001 and can not recommend her enough.

I didn't know where to start, but Donna did. She is undaunted, and provided structure to the project from the beginning. She is creative in her solutions, and was cheerful when I got wobbly about it all. It was a team effort and was even fun. We started with the files, working together drawer by drawer, allocating each folder to "toss, shred, or keep." As we went, we reorganized the drawers into preliminary main categories and then smaller ones, labeling on the way. To my surprise, I was able to throw out 3 metal file cabinets (!) and even ended up with some empty drawers in the ones I kept. I ordered a shredding truck Donna recommended and watched them shred 17 bags of papers, so I felt safe about the security those documents. The filing part of the project over, I now had room for storing electronics and other items that were (I confess) lying around. That cleared some surfaces and cabinets! The next stage was--the closets! Our mantra was: "recycle, donate, or keep." At the end of that stage, the United War Veterans picked up 11 large cartons (a tax deduction.) There was now room to do partial redecorating, moving pictures, adding a lamp, a new mirror, etc. When guests come over, I show them my closets and they are jealous. Result: The whole apartment feels larger and more welcoming, and I am enjoying it as if it were a new space entirely! I actually know where things are and the surfaces are clear. Donna is delightful to work with, has wonderful energy, and keeps things moving. Part of her technique is that every session has a clear result, even from the beginning. Each time she left I felt we had accomplished something and we knew what to tackle next time. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Description of Work: I had not purged my files for about 20 years of being in my own business in my one-bedroom apartment, plus I was storing files from my mother who had passed away 6 years ago. They were difficult to part with. I also had a lot of "stuff." My attitude towards many things that I had not used was, "well, maybe that will come in handy sometime." Although I would not call myself a hoarder, I was also not a tosser! But as a Manhattan apartment dweller, I knew something had to be done! And the time was now.

I highly recommend Donna for your decluttering needs as well as preparation for selling! I will give her full credit for getting my cluttered, dated apartment ready for sale from decluttering, helping make decisions on painting (even the kitchen cabinets), and shopping for the right items (including inexpensive rugs and furniture) and staging. We had 4 offers at or above asking within 1 week of going to market. My apartment never looked better and this was all while we were living there (family of 4). Her easy going personality and style helped me get through all of this work within a 5 week time period. She kept me calm and focused and was always positive that we would do whatever required to get it done – and she did! I can’t thank her enough and will be using her again as we move into our new apartment to set up right from the start. If you are frustrated by the clutter and feel overwhelmed on getting started and finishing – consider Donna – you will be so happy when it’s done.

Donna is an ace and deserving of the many positive reviews she gets. We were hesitant to spend the money on an organizer, thinking we could do it ourselves. But we've been saying that for years. She cut through the basic issues and helped us sort through the clutter -- by the end of a four-hour session a totally unmanageable closet was fully organized. The service isn't cheap, but it's worth it.

Donna is a true professional. During the initial consultation to evaluate the job, she shares her experience & expertise and listens to the client, to gain an understanding of their desired goals. Scheduling follow-up appointments that are in 4-hour blocks of time occurs post-consult and Donna is very accommodating to find the date/time that works best for both parties. Donna leads the client in the sorting process, establishing a "system" of items to keep, recycle, donate or trash. The client's expression of: what to keep & why, is always considered and final decision making is up to the client. Donna also implements a method of "classification" as part of the declutter process. This helps the client to establish order and logic for storage of items- creating ease & clarity for the client. In addition, the use of space is reviewed and item storage may be adjusted (with client consent), helping the client to know what they have and where they have it! Room set-up is also reviewed with consideration of the client's lifestyle and needs - making changes as applicable to improve one's overall living space. Donna is amazing to work with! She is an "activator" and motivates her clients to take action and progress to reaching their goals. She is respectful, kind, thoughtful and genuine. I would highly recommend working with Donna; her ability to help others is a true gift!

Of course, I was sure I could clear out 30 years? of clutter myself with help from family and friends. It looks so easy. Not true! After a month we hardly made a dent. I found Declutter 123 online. Donna came with suggestions for inexpensive storage boxes and ideas for sorting everything and keeping the memories (take pictures) while donating the objects to people who can really put them to good use. Donna has built my self-confidence to the point where we can do 75% ourselves and leave the really difficult decisions to her. Donna always arrives on time ready to work and keeps me focused on the task at hand. Her energy is incredible: she even packs the donations into the car and takes out the trash. I would recommend her to anybody who wants to clear out and clear their head.

Declutter123 is a sharp and professional company. They provided me with a free estimate with short notice on a Saturday. Prompt, Professional, Respectful, Easygoing, Unpretentious and Highly Capable. I interviewed several organizations and each one provided estimates, some charged a fee, most companies did not charge (for estimate). Donna arrived right on the dot of our appointed time. Other companies all came through the door and said I'd have to do this, this and this.....The first thing she did was asked if we could just talk for few minutes before I showed her around. She wanted to get a sense of what my goals for the apartment were, For me this was very helpful to discuss and she quickly understood I was living through a very stressful personal situation on top of a demanding job and I was very attached to many things for sentimental reasons. After seeing all the areas I needed help with from one end of the apartment to the other and all the closets and cupboards she then suggested where she thought we should start. Her suggestion told me that she understood what I was going through and she could adapt her organizational techniques quickly to suit my personal situation. I called her the next day to hire her. Declutter123 structures 'sessions' very practically, something that I did not find with other companies. Most other companies require large blocks of time to be purchased upfront. Declutter123 offers a 4 hour minimum session - this length worked very well for me. We made so much progress in one session I was shocked at how much was achieved and how little stress I experienced. I had a lot of laughs and after only 4 sessions (all booked at my convenience and with as much time in between sessions as I needed to balance my demanding job) I hardly recognize my own apartment today. There is more space than I imagined I'd ever see again. And everything has it's place and it makes sense and it works for me. I have completed the first step in a larger process. And Decluter123 will be the first call I make when I'm ready to take the next step. I highly recommend them with out any reservations. Call them today, don't wait, you'll feel better. Cost is very reasonable.

Fantastic! Donna is a master at organizing, purging and teaching you how to do these things for yourself. She is kind and compassionate and patient. She is very reliable and punctual too. She follows up with texts and she is very supportive and encouraging. If you think you can't do it, with Donna's help you can! She does all the heavy work and you decide what stays and what goes. Once you make the call, the rest is easy!

Donna asks all the right questions to help you achieve your goals. She also works great w kds and helped my kids get rid of 5 bags of toys etc so they could donate to charity. They absolutely loved working w her just as much as I did. I am hiring her to help with every room I the apartment. She helped me clear my kitchen, coat closet and kids room. I feel really clear and everything now has a home. She feels that clutter is really just an unmade decision about where things go. She helped me let go of so much and it feels great!
Description of Work: Donna helped me on several occasions. She is incredible at organizing and knows how to help you decide what you really need and what you can let go of. She is ver efficient, charming and fun. She took out all the stress of decluttering and made my space beautiful. It's obvious that she loves what she does and truly cares about her client's needs.
