Donna is the person everyone should reach out if you need your home to be decluttered and help with defining your space that didn't exist in your home. She's very professional and extremely hardworking helping us sort out the garbage, things meant for storage and donation. Her step by step process was extremely helpful to stage our house within 3 days. Her help came in a timely manner as we saved huge cost on staging companies. Donna is very creative and has a great sense of art that she purchased which was a great fit for our home. She does the hardwork for you and obviously you do have do your homework that she would enlist at the end of the day. Another great feature about Donna, is that she is extremely flexible with her hours and made herself available during the weekends. She also made us realize of spaces that we never thought of in our condo. She is a hard worker, disciplined, meticulous and she's every dollar and hour worth. In this process we learnt a lot from her on how we should organize our closets, manage cutter and make our home stage ready even if you're not selling the house. Three Cheers for Donna who has helped me clear out a spectacularly jam-packed home which I inherited. Things I had procrastinated or dreaded doing flew by with Donna's guidance. I never thought I'd get a room clear in the house so quickly, but it was done in four or five weeks of 4-5 hours a pop. I appreciated her advice about how to sort the items, and what to donate to Goodwill, etc. She was also helpful in gentle coaching and advice when I came to emotional stumbling blocks of determining what to do with a deceased loved one's personal items. Also working with her was good company. From start to finish she was focused on our goal each session. She also has a good eye for home/apartment staging/ feng shui and has helped me prepare my home for possible rent or sale. With Donna's help I have learned to organize and declutter with an efficiency and ease I have never known before.
Description of Work: We worked together to clear out a very large art studio, library, and personal effects of a deceased loved one. Donna helped me visualize and plan how I could convert this home into my own personal space. Donna also consulted and gave me guidance on fixing up the house, suggesting where I should invest and where I could save, in preparation for possible sale or rent.

Donna was amazing. She helped me sort through things that I have needed to clear out for years. We worked for a solid 6 or 7 hours and accomplished a thorough cleaning and reorganization of all of my personal belongings, including business resources and ever paperwork. She coached me on developing a systems to store and maintain all of my belonging. She was encouraging, professional and nothing short of amazing. Her coaching and words of wisdom about developing an environment that made me more happy and created room for new experiences and memories was priceless. Hiring her was something I should have done years ago but felt like I should have been able to accomplish everything myself. I finally realized that I needed help and that there was no shame in asking for assistance with something that I simply was not very good at. I hope other people will take advantage of the amazing services that Donna offers.

Today Donna and I decluttered and organized my kitchen. She is very focused in her task and regroups items logically into cabinets and drawers making the kitchen much more efficient. Donna was the best honestly. She has a great attitude. She makes you feel like you have known her for years. We worked two to three times a week for about 6 weeks and the results were incredible. I was pregnant at the time and she took so much pressure off of me and I felt like she took control of the situation and results came FAST. I still plan on using her in the future for smaller jobs. People don't realize that investing in this kind of service will make other areas of your life seamless. My husband and I feel lighter, mentally and physically knowing that we have a place for everything. I can't express this enough but we are so happy with how it all worked out. Happy Organizing! Leah

It was an amazing experience. Tiring, intense and so worth every minute and every dollar. Donna has an endless supplies of positive energy. Her approach is definitely about what you treasure, use, and want to keep. Not about what you need to dispose of. I would not have believed the amount of goods...books, clothes, keepsakes, gadgets, and memorabilia that went to charity or the garbage room. 30 or maybe even more bags and boxes left and if you had entered my home (or closets) before the clean out you probably would have said it was all pretty nice and neat. Donna has a lot of knowledge and experience that was very useful. She knows about recycling laws, where to dispose of books (many charities do not want them), how to arrange closets for most utility, and very importantly, for staging, how to make closets and cabinets look like an ad for California Closets. One pair of shoes on a shelf? Why not, once you have the room. This isn?t an easy process, but Donna is kind, efficient and works very hard every minute she?s with you. We worked for a total of 21 hours and I could never have gotten this kind of result on my own. They photographed my apartment yesterday and it looks clean, serene and very desirable. I can?t imagine you could find a better person to help you declutter and I wish I hadn?t waited until I was forced to.

Hello, my name is Christian I'm 16 years old and boy oh boy you have to hear about Donna. So I'm very messy and usually never in the mood to clean my room. I really only cleaned my room when guests came, but "cleaning" my room meant hide everything to me. I had no drive to keep up with my room. My mom had Donna before and thought that she would be perfect to help me. We scheduled a day, and the minute I met her we got straight to business. She teaches you how to organise whatever you need help in. She also teaches you how to keep up with it. She gave me so tips on keeping my room clean, really good methods on a day to day basis. When we finished my room was not just "clean" it was organised in every way. It's been 6 months since she came and my room is still clean as ever. She gave me that drive that I had been looking for, and all I did was follow her tips on keeping up with my things, and it worked. So if there's any parents with children who have messy rooms, and in desperate need of teaching your kids organisation I highly recommend Donna! It was the best choice my mom ever made for me.
Description of Work: She puts everything in a certain pile of what you need to keep, what you don't need to keep, and things you can donate. She also teaches you how to organise your whatever you need help in. She also teaches you how to keep up with it. She gave me so tips on keeping my room clean.

Donna was recommended to me by a friend who raved about her, and as soon as Donna arrived I could see why. She was immediately confident that we could transform my space together and although i couldn't quite see how it would happen, after the first visit I understood and started to see a light at the end of the tunnel. In each room/closet, we first went through a decluttering process which was less painful than I had expected. Throughout, Donna never pressured on what to save/keep, but was motivational in keeping my eyes on the prize (a better, more relaxing and organized space) as I made the purge vs keep decisions. After going through the purging process, Donna's keen organizational eye and creative vision kicked in. She created storage solutions and seems to have found tons of extra space in my apartment and closets. And she always makes sure the solutions make sense to me, so they are easy to keep up. After several months everything is still completely organized and the stress caused by clutter has virtually disappeared. I'm not sure I expected working with Donna to be "life-changing" but it truly has been and I will be ever grateful. Needless to say I highly recommend her!
Description of Work: Over the course of several visits, Donna completely transformed my apartment in order to prepare for the arrival of a baby. Not only is she a pleasure to work with in terms of figuring out what should be saved/purged (with no pressure), but she also has a vision and sense of the potential of spaces that is far beyond what I could have imagined. And - importantly - the organizational solutions she created are easy to keep up with. Also, Donna digs in hard: clearing and cleaning, hauling heavy bags, anything that needs to done. As a result of her work, the space has transitioned from "lots of things i need to get to someday" to a pared-down, organized space that doesn't weigh on me and is ready for baby.

Tell Donna what your story is because she wants to start helping you even before she begins the job (as she did for us), i.e., "Don't put down new flooring in your daughter's condo until we have 'purged' what going, staying, donate."
Description of Work: Donna answered the phone from her vacation to talk to me about the entwining dual needs my daughter and I have for a complex job. As I said there is nothing Donna doesn't do. She has a way of making you decide what to keep, give away, or throw out. She understands the emotions people have with their belongings. She is all business, 100% professional with a human side that makes something so hard for so many people, actually enjoyable. She also has very creative ideas for creating simple storage solutions from stuff already there without going out and spending money on organizing bins, shelved, tools etc
Description of Work: Better question is What didnt she do? Donna helped my 16 year old go thru everything in his room. He has saved everything. He was adopted when he was 6 and he couldnt part with anything. But with Donnas patience love and clear understanding of what he was experiencing emotionally she was able to go thru every single item in his room clothing, old toys, electronics, school work etc. when all was said and done there were 12 bags of trash and 4 bags of donations. His clothes were sorted and everything had a place. She helped him by labeling all his drawers so he remembers where to put things. His desk is amazing. She will be back after school starts to help him with organizing his work etc. This was the 5th or 6th time Donna has been here. She has shoveled snow to get to the shed in the backyard. She hauls trash up and down stairs. She is a powerhouse

Donna spent 4 hours here. We sorted through the summer clothes and discarded those which were stained or did not fit any more. Then we went to the closet and went through the winter clothes, again discarding what was not needed or wanted now. Next, we went through sheets and towels. Here is where Donna showed her stuff! She reorganized sheets and those which are not being used now were put in with the winter clothes, which opened up space on the shelves. Instead of everything being a mess, I can see what I have, and hopefully start to use it. Next, we tackled the gloves, hats and scarfs, and again Donna's ability to work with me and my space in an easy, yet methodical way produced shelves with much less on them, and easy access to what's on them. We then went to work on the three drawers under my bed, which I thought were filled, but it turned out that I discarded much that I didn't think I would get rid of. Donna doesn't push, but she just keeps repeating, "do you love it", "do you use it", and you let it go. At the end Donna took down 3 bags of discarded clothing, and left me homework to complete for the month, e.g., taking the donations to Goodwill, or clothes to the cleaner and trying on clothes I'm not sure about. I love looking at the closet now!

I wrote a glowing review of this provider early in the course of the work. But, Donna Klimek turned into a flake who never followed up. So after she destroyed a huge part of the wall in a closet and plastered it up incorrectly, she never came back to fix it. So now I've got a huge crack where the spackle warped. Perhaps Ms. Klimek is good for a one or two day project. But anything more than that she seems to get bored and walks away. Even after I requested she come back and I was willing to pay her many more $$$.

Donna was punctual, traveled up from the city to Westchester, got right to work & never stopped, was tactful, funny, warm and accomplished so much that needed to be done. She's terrific.

She was excellent. Wasn't sure what to expect. She began cleaning right away and didn't stop working. When I say working I mean working. She compiled garbage and lifted heavy bags downstairs. All in all I threw out 11 bags of garbage. It made a major difference in my apt and my well being. I can breath now! Following the job I have maintained and further organized my space.

Donna is gifted in the way she deals with her clients. She makes what seems to be an unbearable task enjoyable. She?s funny, direct, and practical. She never tells you what to keep and what to discard--she asks questions that bring you to the decisions yourself, so that you feel confident in your choices. She?s truly a pleasure to work with, and I plan on hiring her again for any organization or decluttering project I have in the future. I highly recommend Donna. I can?t say enough good things about her.
Description of Work: Donna was amazing!! She helped me divide all the space in a one-bedroom apartment once filled by one person into an apartment that now easily accommodates two. She helped me make decisions on what to keep and what to discard, and she managed to clear nearly half of my once full closet space to make plenty of room for my girlfriend’s things. I’m not even a hoarder, but in just a few hours, we managed to remove enough clutter to fill ten large garbage bags, seven of which were organized to give to charity, and three to discard, along with furniture and other items.

We met Donna through the recommendation of our social worker in NYC. After establishing contact we talked several times on the phone and went over how the project would be dealt with once we began. For us this was absolutely necessary as we are located out of town and needed to fly in and deal with this apartment within the space of one week. Donna established contact with the building superintendent so that we began with a cordial working relationship with him included. Donna and her two male helpers arrived promptly at 9 am armed with masks, windex, gloves, shipping boxes and contractor trash bags. This was a situation where most of the things in the apartment were not trash (although there was a large amount of that also) but books, cds, dvds, collectibles, clothing, furniture, etc. Everything had to be gone through carefully but quickly as we were looking for jewelry, cash and other valuables. Also, we were trying to sift though and determine what to ship out of state and to give away and reuse as much as possible. We worked together from 9-9pm. Thanks to Donna and her wonderful helpers, what probably would have been a totally depressing day turned into as pleasant an experience as possible, given the circumstances. They were thorough, cheerful, and helped my daughters and myself from becoming "obsessed" with keeping things and dealing with what needed to be done....which was to empty the apartment within a few days time. With Donna, we were able to deal with the vast majority of items on the first day and then my daughters and I were able to finish up the job by ourselves. Donna also checked up on us to see how we were faring during the rest of the week. We are extremely happy to have worked with her and I would definitely do so again.
Description of Work: Helped to empty a two bedroom apartment of all furniture and furnishings. This was a case of hoarding and living in the apartment for 35 years.

Donna saved my marriage!!! My husband and I were constantly arguing over the clutter and "stuff" that was everywhere. Donna stepped in and made us realize we were both responsible for our own stuff. We are much happier now that our lives are organized. Her patience, understanding and organizational skills have had a significant impact on our relationship.
Description of Work: Donna was able to totally organize my clothes, shoes, husbands clothes, pare down a huge book collection. She transformed our kitchen into a totally functioning family center where we once again loved to cook and gather.

Donna was just the best. Efficient, fast, competent but most importantly incredibly patient when I needed her to be. I sometimes didn't want to throw junk out but Donna helped me figure out if it was something I was keeping because I needed it or just resisted discarding for no reason. She helped me organize everything else in the nicest way possible- both aesthetically and practically. She was a fantastic organizer and a lovely person to work with. If I could give her an A++++ rating I would.
Description of Work: Donna was beyond amazing!! First she tackled my basement, helping me to once again see beautiful space, cleared walls and floors. She helped me throw out the junk and organize all the rest into their designated "homes". Donna helped me set up my kitchen into an efficient and beautifully organized room. And most importantly, she helped me take my personal space, a space I generally would not let ANYONE else touch and converted it into an airy and comfortable place to be. I experienced tremendous resistance to doing this until Donna came to help me.

This was a very emotional thing for me to tackle and all I can say Is thank the powers that be for sending me Donna. I was nervous to have someone see my mess but I never felt judged by her. Super professional, quick and encouraging. She immediately shared her plan on how to get It all done. I agreed?she smiled and we went to work. Wow! She not only organized my whole house, helped me rearrange furniture and find better storage space I didn?t even know I had. She also taught me the basics of organizing and how I could teach them to my kids. I?ve told everyone about her. It was the best money I?ve ever spent. I have 2 kids, a husband and a job. This was for ME!
Description of Work: Donna Is the best. She helped me clean out 30 years of clutter as well as stuff I took from my moms house after she died and boxes of paperwork I was pretending wasn’t there. With her expert guidance we got through It all In record time and even had fun!

This was the first time I had worked with an organizer, so I didn't know what to expect. I immediately liked Donna's attitude -- courteous, knowledgeable and upbeat. We had several decluttering sessions during the summer of 2013 prior to my move, and several organizing sessions at my new apartment in October-December 2013. I sat and she did all the work! At my old place, Donna went through every piece of my wardrobe. I've retired, so I don't need work clothes. We sorted shoes, accessories, handbags to give to charity. I made instant decisions, with her help, which was never intrusive or disrespectful. We went through my books, kitchen items, desk stuff, music cassettes and record albums, and toiletries and facecare products (many of which had expired). We ended up, at Donna's suggestion, giving away everything to the Salvation Army for Hurricane Sandy survivors: 6 huge bags of clothing and shoes, 2 boxes of record albums, an old flat-screen monitor, 4 boxes of books, 5 boxes of miscellaneous household goods and glassware, 90 music cassettes, a big baggie of old costume jewelry, and lots of other stuff. We also threw out useless and broken things, which she carried to recycling for me. All this lightened my move. Per the coming move, Donna expertly packed my very fragile things from one hutch, so the movers didn't have to do that. At my new place, Donna swung into high gear -- this woman has ENERGY and knows what she's doing! -- and she unpacked boxes of books, putting them where I wanted. She put together a shelving unit I ordered, and she hung 2 heavy mirrors and a bunch of pictures. (She brought her own drill, mounting screws and level.) She also attached my new headboard to my bed. She organized my kitchen, the kitchen pantry and another huge closet with shelves for linens, cleaning supplies, tools, and glassware. She was unstoppable. I particularly like that Donna used just a few new shelf units and storage boxes for my things. (She bought them, and I reimbursed her.) She didn't push expensive, complicated organizing systems. We actually used some of my old shoeboxes. Donna was particularly mindful of my new building's rules -- she folded packing boxes and papers flat and sorted properly for recycling/garbage and took everything down to the basement for me. In short, Donna is a terrific organizer and human being!
Description of Work: Donna pared down my possessions in anticipation of my move from a one-bedroom apartment to another one-bedroom, both in Manhattan. She also unpacked and organized my new apartment. So, she worked with me at two locations.

I can't say enough positive things about the experience. I was totally embarrassed to let anyone see the disaster of clutter in my life. But Donna had no judgements whatsoever. Instead of drawers overflowing, I now have tons of extra space due to her organization skills. I have cleaned out and donated tons of stuff that I no longer need. And the built in closets and desk area are a great help to me. Donna would come in 3-hour sessions. She would also give me "homework" of tasks I should do on my own to continue the declutter process. She also has impeccable design taste and turned an ugly bookcase into a work of art showcasing my treasures. I'm not the easiest person to deal with, but Donna kept her cool the whole time.
Description of Work: Donna Klimek came to my home and worked with me to organize every single part of my life. We went through all my clothes and got the closets and drawers cleaned out. We straightened out all the junk under the sink. She then helped me find and hire carpenters to create built-in closets and storage in my bedroom. She also helped me work with an electrician to modernize my house. She also looked at how I was using space in my apartment and found a way to increase my living room space and move my office space into a whole new area.
