Owens Corning Basement Finishing Systems

Description of Work: Owens Corning refinished part of my unfinished basement to turn it into a gorgeous hangout space for my children. The job included the installation of fabric, mold-resistant walls; some minor plumbing; removal of original footings; encasing of the new footings (which had been installed by a previous contractor); electrical work involving installation of recessed lighting and new switches in both the finished and unfinished portions of the basement; installation of new ceiling and windows; and lots of carpentry associated with encasing of pipes etc. as needed; new doors. |Corning did a spectacular job. The company was very professional, from the advance team, which included a designer, to the back office, to the team manager, and most of all, to the installers themselves. The installers were considerate, polite, highly-skilled, and very sensitive and responsive to my particular requirements for the final outcome. I can even say that the designer and the installers were creative, as they placed one of the original beams to the house under the new ceiling in an alcove, which created a kind of Swiss Chalet effect.

Description of Work: Although we did not sign a contract that day for a basement remodel, the price above was the price quoted that day. I would like to say that the presentation started off well and went downhill once we came to the price. Apparently if you are not ready to sign that day and committ to their price you will be treated as a third class citizen. With that said i would never ever use Owens Corning for anything ever. They gave me a price that was so outlandish it made me laugh. I had a previous estimate to do the basement, entire kitchen with appliances and hardwood floors in my entire house for the less than what CKH had estimated just for the basement. Once they present their estimate you are expected to whip out your check book and hand them over a deposit ! Do they not believe in comparitive shopping? Do you buy the first car or house you see? NOT!!!!!! Once the salesman learned we were not going to sign that day he became very angry and rude towards my wife and I. Even after trying the call my manager and bringing down the price a mere 2,000.00 to be showcase house......don't insult me ! I am sure i am not the only one out there that has run into Ron Pelle and his not so nice attitiude after he knew he wouldn't get a sale that day ! Sorry ron, you basically suck at customer service !!!!

Description of Work: They finished our basement.

Description of Work: Basement cement walls were covered in the special wallcovering/insulation product. Some dry wall was put up to finish the stairway and close off a section for a non-finished storage area. Two poles were covered with wood surrounds and two doors installed. Cable and phone jacks and two dimmer switches too. Armstrong drop ceiling and recessed ceiling lights installed. Electric heating unit. Approximately 650 sq ft.
