EKB Kitchens

We had been checking out folks to do the renovation and had not yet found someone whose ideas we liked and at a reasonable cost. We had seen EKB in the Clipper magazine and decided to stop by the office to check it out. That is where we met Leah, instantly comfortable with her.Set up a home visit by Matt (owner) and after we told him what we wanted, he came up with a different take on part of it which we liked. Leah made a. Design, we went to the office to review it and the pricing and to decide if there were things we wanted to change, etc. This all started in February. By the end of Feb, we had signed the contract, and had a tentative start date of early April. With an estimated work time of 4-6 weeks. We picked the cabinets pretty quickly, and they needed to order to get them here at the proper time. We had Brian as our main installer, who was phenomenal! The orchestration of who came on which days, was very well done...plumber, electrician, building supply drop pin G off wallboard and cement board and the tile installers. During the planning for the project to begin, we had to determine where our makeshift kitchen would be and what we needed at our fingertips. No kitchen sink for about 3 weeks, we put an inexpensive microwave, a countertop oven and our fridge in our dining room. This prevented us from needing to run out for takeout every day. And with the time of year, the barbecue was available.

Very well. Both Leah and Matt never made us feel pressure to use EKB. We decided that they were the kitchen contractor for us after the initial visit. They never once made us feel like we were just customers. Matt even thanked us for the opportunity! Great communication, open to any design changes, great implementation. Their patience is admirable as well, as we flipped and flopped on design a couple of times. Leah just rolled along with us and helped us make the decisions needed. Now we have a magazine quality kitchen and are extremely happy with it. We've sat at our island with smiles and both said "I can't believe this is our kitchen!" Great job! Thanks Matt, Leah and EKB

Great experience all around. I would use them again.

They did not do the tear out of old cabinets and drywall, elect, plumbing, ect. I had to hire someone else to do that. When Matt came to measure he told me they did everything, plumbing, elect, tear out, drywall, install, ect. After measure and design consult, and picking out cabinet's and granite. I was told by Leah, they didn't have anyone to do tear out, or install. I was fortunate to get help from another company I've done business with to send one of their guys to do all the prep, ect.. My husband got very sick not log after ordering and was in ICU from Thanksgiving thru New yrs. When Leah called to tell me the cabinets were in, I called A to Z home professionals in desperation to help me find someone to do the prep work. John, the owner of A to Z was very kind and sent some of his guys over to take care of it. Then Ekb came thru and got one of their installers to install the cabinets. in one day. Some of the bottom moulding came off afterwards. and some wasn't done correctly. I did call Leah and she was going to send someone out to fix it, but I'm pretty handy and fixed it myself. The only disappointment was one of the cabinets we had changed on the original design doesn't go all the way back to the wall. Its an L shape design. so we lost about 8 inches of depth, but it was too late to change it, not that I asked. But after all the stuff with my husbands illness, I just didn't want to making a fuss, plus it would hold up the granite countertop install, and I needed to be able to cook for my husband because of diet restrictions from his illness., so I didn't say anything. The granite counters were installed in about a week. with an under _ mount sink included. They look lovely, but there is a seem I can feel as well as see when I'm cleaning them, and two slight chips you can only feel around the sink.. I haven't said anything to Leah, as I don't know what they could do about it anyway, short of replacing it, and I just have too much on my plate right now with taking care of my husband. I did however, have to straighten out the dishwasher, as when they put it back and mounted it to the granite it was really, really, uneven. The top stuck out much farther than the bottom, which effected how well it worked as well as made it a pain to load or unload as the top wrack constantly slid out. When I did straighten it out, one of the brackets that was glued to the granite to hold the top of the dishwasher in place came off. I still have to get some apoxy to put it back on. I did not make Leah aware of this. I'm sure she would remedy it, but it' seems trivial, after almost losing my husband.

From the time that Matt (owner) came out to do the first visit, to the initial drawings by Leah (Designer), the quality and professionalism was top notch. They recommended cabinets, granite, etc.. Matt only deals with people that he has worked with long term and who he knows to be up to his standards. Each team of tradesmen were punctual and extremely detail oriented. There wasn't any scrimping on materials - everything first quality. The project manager, Brian was also the carpenter. His work is impeccable, able to handle every type of carpentry from framing to crown molding. He oversaw all the other workers and didn't allow one detail to escape him. (Nickname - Eagle Eye). This was an extreme overhaul, the whole room was ripped down the studs. At no time was there a delay in the work, workmen came and did their work like clockwork. Very good project management We now have a kitchen that could very well be featured in a magazine - couldn't be more satisfied!.
